BEWARE!!!! This company is awful. I started this position in September of 2019. When I came on, we were utilizing Podium to get reviews. The software itself was fine, but did not produce results. So when I let them know we wanted to cancel our services, they gave me the run around FOR MONTHS! There are very few phone numbers that exist to get in touch with anyone from their company, and the ones you do find will lead you right to a voicemail that is never checked and the calls are never returned. Emails go completely unanswered, and if you get a response, it 9 times out of 10 never addresses your actual question. Stay very very far away from this company. No morals, and very shady at best. THERE IS A REASON THEY HAVE A D- RATING FROM THE BBB!!

Pros

The only pro I have is that it was easy to use.

Cons

Lack of morals and integrity. Non-existent customer service. Shady business practices. Over-simplified platform.

A user-to-customer messaging platform for reviews that's hooked in with Google

Pros

Direct Google integration is definitely the biggest pro here. They also are focused on having staff message customers directly for reviews one-on-one. It won't work for everyone, just depends on the business model.

Cons

Very limited functionality and visibility into your account. Right now, it's basically just a review solicitation platform via messaging and email. It's efficient at getting star ratings and reviews, but that's about it. If you're looking for surveys, look elsewhere. Also, when I was a customer, they didn't even have NPS Score. That's pretty basic. Reporting is very limited and it's hard to get an overview of your total account, only individual locations. Customization is little to none for both the dashboard and the actual campaigns. Oh, and it's crazy expensive. You're basically paying for the direct Google integration. Which is super nice and important, but still. I also had a very negative experience that was unique to me. I had very specific contract conditions that were not met and it was a very difficult and painful process to get rectified. I felt very misled by the company and lost any trust I had in them. It was very disappointing.

Overall a great system that makes it easy to see what people think about our business

Pros

Podium makes it easy they ask for the review for you. They filter out the bad and post the good. You can also use them for mobile payments and communication for multiple parts of your business

Cons

The back end tool is a little weak. No real way to clear out items that maybe where not addressed right away. Hard to follow the task organizations

Functional platform when it works, but customer service is very poor.

It was good until I stumbled upon problems on their end, and they do not respond to these problems in a timely fashion. I hope they iron out their problems so I don't ever have to speak to anyone at Podium Customer Service. They very rarely respond in a timely fashion.

Pros

I like the ability to integrate my business landline number with SMS capability. It's easy to send text review links to customers.

Cons

Customer service is horrific. Let me repeat--horrific! I rarely leave reviews but the inconveniences afford to me deserve a stern warning to others considering this platform. I am fairly tech savvy and a good problem solver. However, problems, server disconnects, software glitches occur from time-to-time, and customer service contacts cannot be reached, are unreliable, and human customer service is lacking!

Podium filled an important need for our business while also providing some unexpected benefits.

Pros

Managing a sizable car dealership's online reviews can be a daunting task, but Podium simplifies that process. Manage the reputation and communicate with customers in one simple platform.

Cons

If it were more (easily) segmented by user, that would help. It seems that they are moving in this direction, but as of today, it still needs individual customization.

Podium is a fool-proof way to monitor online reviews

We've used Podium to quickly raise our client's Google review rating in just a short period- in less than 3 months, we've increased 1.2 stars and because responding to reviews is so easy, we've developed deeper relationships with reviewers with our responses.

Pros

Probably the best thing about Podium are the SMS text feature that sends an easy to use FB or Google review link directly to a potential reviewer. The link eliminates any guesswork of confusion about how to leave a review which, for the clients we're using it for, would definitely hinder their customers from providing review. Additionally, the email notifications that inform any time a review is left is hugely beneficial because reviews never fall of your radar and because it's so so easy to respond directly to reviews within the Podium platform, it's simple and quick to just pop into the review and respond to it as soon as you're notified! Another thing I love is that Podium is constantly adding features and functionality, like the ability to now respond directly to FB reviews from the platform in addition to Google reviews.

Cons

It can be a little glitchy- for instance, for the past two weeks the Reply button within each Google review wasn't working so I had to reply to reviews directly from google.com/business. I will say however that the live chat customer service option is awesome and both times I've used it, my problems were immediately resolved and the support team was super helpful

Would have benefited from a free trial plan for small businesses to try before they buy.

Terrible customer service. I saw the reviews before signing up but was convinced by the Sales team the Customer service issues had been addressed, they definitely have not. If you decide to use the software try to get a free trial so you can see what it is really like and could do for you.

Pros

The software seems like it would be good if you wanted to spend additional money to integrate with existing systems or if you have a dedicated IT team.

Cons

During the sales I was lead to believe automation would be easy with the software but found the only available automation was if you used their payment system, not workable for my business. They have horrible customer service. Immediately after starting with Podium I found the software would be unusable for my business. I tried to work through the onboarding team to see if there was something I was missing but couldn't get a response and when they finally responded I was unable to get any answers. When I asked to cancel my account they refused a refund and will be charging me for a second month as their terms state 30 day notice.

Podium makes managing high volumes of texts easy

Cons

The lack of customer service is truly boggling. It is literally impossible to get someone on the phone. The poor integration should have been my first clue. We lost three days of business and nobody cared. Podium Customer service makes your local DMV look like Chick-fil-a or some other excellent customer service organization. I will be leaving the second my contract is up. The amount of money they charge is absurd compared to other similar products.

Great experience with Podium

We've really enjoyed using Podium for communicating with our patients while remaining HIPAA compliant and for generating a higher volume of reviews.

Pros

The texting feature is really convenient for our patients and they like being able to get real-time responses without having to call and potentially wait on hold. Plus the chat interface is very easy for our staff to use and manage.

Cons

I wish the review request feature would offer more customization, not everyone has a Google address or Facebook account so it is somewhat limiting for our patients.

Pros

This program has given an easy way for customers to contact us, which was very nice during the pandemic here. It has also provided for a fantastic way to communicate with customers using my cellphone but without giving them my phone number. Not only that, it allows us to easily gather google reviews when we remember to utilize that function.

Cons

If anything, the only thing I can think of is to improve the design a little more in terms of user friendliness. But I can’t think of anything specifically at the moment

They have amazing customer service and training sessions for businesses starting out, great customization and options for all types, and helpful with seeing the progress from the client's view.

Pros

This allows you to send review requests directly to customers and clients from within the app, taking them to exactly where the review should be posted. Takes the hassle out of requesting reviews, and it also can be beneficial by collecting all reviews for the business to see overall. Customizable to the business's wants and needs as well.

Cons

There are daily notifications, even if there is no change in actual happenstance on the site. There also can be user interface learning curve, which can take longer for others.

The ability to communicate with customers has been beneficial to bringing them in, and the ability to send payment requests has been crucial.

Pros

The ability to send money requests to customers is very important. The constant communication from customers asking questions we are ready to answer also helps draw customers into the shop.

Cons

The ability to mark a payment as checked and noted in our own accounting and pawn software would be very helpful. Due to many people accessing the app and making sure that payments are seen and only applied to customers accounts once is very important, but unavailable on the app. If the ability to archive a payment would be available like on paypal that would be very helpful.

Podium is very easy to use. Initially we purchased it to collect on-line reviews. They have added so many features we now use it to text guest’s about a purchase and also collect down payment on credit cards. Their system integrates with our retail software.

It's been okay for the most part. The integration was very long and drawn out when we thought it was going to be very straight forward, and the software has been pretty inconsistent since we added additional locations. For example, the automation just stops working for no reason and takes weeks to get going again. Very frustrating.

Pros

Ease of responding to reviews - it's streamlined and pretty straightforward. It is a bit confusing how reviews and messages appear in various areas of the platform, however.

Cons

Very inconsistent - seems to not work more often than it works.

Everything Podium does you can get for free elsewhere

I frankly just don't get why Podium is a thing. Nothing they pitched to us offered anything of value beyond what we could get for free from Facebook or Google, with just a little additional training to our staff.

Pros

Interface was sharp and professional looking. Team was friendly and responsive.

Cons

It could never integrate well with Facebook, which is where most our customers find us and want to communicate with us. Our CRM already does texting and has programmable logic and bots. We found way better results from just having our employees ask customers face to face to please leave us a review directly on Facebook or Google.

Cons

I signed the contract, having listened to the beautiful promises of the sellers that everything would work perfectly and make it easier for me to communicate with clients. As a result, you can only interact with clients within this platform, you will never receive a notification that the client is waiting or the client has sent you a message. Only within the platform. If you missed the message - that's your problem. Given that my call center is still accepting messages from customers via phone, email, and Yelp, keeping another platform open is extremely inconvenient. As a result - a bunch of missed messages and dissatisfied customers. I was promised free text messages included in the price. As a result, I have to pay more than $1000 for mailings. When I tried to stop the service, the manager informed me that I had a contract for a year and I was obliged to pay for this year, even if the service did not perform its functions and promises.
