Pros and Cons from Salesforce Marketing Cloud users
+15
Encourages cross-team communications. Great support from the vendor, and strong community of users and third-party integrators.
The price, the user experience, the lack of multibrand use. When I threatened to take my business elsewhere we had one call with the VP but then he stopped responding to calls and emails.
Was quite easy to understand for novice and navigate around and had easy to use and useful automated marketing features that made reaching a large audience seamlessly easy.
It felt like they were just as fed up with this crap tool as we are. Although they didn't say it, I think one of our key employees quit over the frustration of dealing with marketing cloud.
We use salesforce daily to engage with customers on a daily basis. It has been very helpful in managing customer journeys, sending and preparing emails, and getting good reporting.
Not all pending sends will list themselves under "Pending Sends," so that has caused some issues with accidentally sending the same email to the same list more than once.
It had a good native integration with Litmus. I liked the reporting feature that visually showed where users where clicking in an email.
The customer service and sales team was probably the worst I've seen from an enterprise product. Even though it's owned by Salesforce, it isn't as well integrated as Marketo.
Its very user friendly when you need to build assets with less time. I think those who have a more B2C business marketing model will find this more beneficial with the 1:1 ratio for personalization.
Further, the e-newsletters don't cooperate with Outlook, which is frustrating since both are Microsoft products.
Salesforce offers a big eco-system with lots of functionalities and a good customer overview.
Also opening a ticket with customer support is a pain, especially if you don't have a Salesforce login (I've tried both with and without.).
You are able to view and respond to emails from all of your coworkers which helps with workload management.
The e-newsletter design function is nearly useless unless you can code HTML, and the preview emails you see never match what ends up in your inbox.
The Journey Building feature is incredible for this. This also allows you to set triggers and make intelligent automation decisions.
Steep learning curve, Poor Customer service, Fairly expensive for most of the users.
Love what the product is capable of doing. But it takes a significant amount of time and money beyond the cost of the product to set it up and maintain it.
For a small business I'd HIGHLY recommend going with something else.

The team is great with helping you troubleshoot any problems and my team loves how easy it is to use.
And that hurt our webinar registration for that week (which was a bummer) and we found out about this on the day of the webinar.
I really love and appreciate the ease of use. It's super easy to throw together an email, assign tags, create lists, etc.
The major problem is the lack of ability to copy an email to more than the recipient. The lack of this feature is putting the continued use of this product in doubt.
I am so happy to have Active Campaign on board. It is just what I needed to help promote my online program.
I've a problem to pay for my upgrade plan due to an currency problem. The website automatically converts the price to my local currency.
Great training, support, sales, and customer success people. The training, the consulting sessions, and follow ups have all been very well managed and super professional, but also fun.
I actually gave up on ActiveCampaign - discouraged by the lack of support.
I like that it saved a lot of my time through automation. It also helped me get a better understanding of the success rate of my campaigns.
They offer great integration with my Wordpress sites, Facebook fan pages, and Zapier (automations integrated with Eventbrite.) Customer support has always been helpful and friendly.
What I love most about Active Campaign is that it is wonderful to use for lead generation, automation, and building your email list.
I love how I can look after my community with personalised emails, other features like tags and links with website are very useful for CRM.
Hands down it has the most capabilities that I was looking for, with ability to really customize and tailor your automations and email sequences. It was easy to use and extremely reliable.
Features seems comprehensive enough to suit my needs and I trust that my data will be protected. Set up support and training has been fantastic.
The customer service is amazing. I love that you can receive automations from people, you can customize everything.
ActiveCampaign has integrated easily and perfectly into my business so far - with great success for my first campaigns both in terms of open rates and engagement as well as revenue.
Everything works as it should, their support is great when you need them (which in my experience has been infrequently), and the price is great.
AC provides the best combination of possibilities (features), user experience (ease of use), and pricing (it's affordable!).

Great for triggering any action you want really and so useful if you are sending out large volumes of emails every month. Integration options are great too.
Here are a few cons which shouldn’t be ignored. Reporting of Analytics of Marketo is very bad and in addiction smart list designs are not flexible and it is very difficult to design them.
Its almost intelligent interaction with prospects allows our team great confidence in engaging and in capturing quality leads.
With customization that is available, it is possible to get a bit lost in the hugeness that is Marketo. Lastly, there are no customizable reporting options which can make things hard.
Marketo customer support team is very responsive and always available to help, this is something I like the most. Marketo's simple and easy user interface is amazing and very easy to use.
Not much return on investment here; very basic functionality, and problems with our website getting clocked as spam form our target cusotmers.
Marketo engage is a perfect tool for automation marketing. It’s also a great handling emails and marketing materials.
The look and feel of it is also stuck in the 90s. They don't provide any decent templates so my team is often forced to look elsewhere and then integrate email and landing page templates with Marketo.
I've used Marketo for more than 3 years. Marketo is a powerful tool that gives me the ability to market and track my marketing campaigns in a meaningful and scalable way.
New feature functionality is questionable in the 2015-2018 vintage (pre-adobe) - eg Sky doesn't work as one example.
Quite a good experience with database management and also the part of segmentation. It has quite nice engagement engine.
Unless you have a consultant or take classes, it can be diffcult to learn. The community can be hard to navigate, and I think it takes too long to wait for responses.
Marketo is a very powerful marketing automation tool. I've used it at a few different companies for years and feel like there is still so much more it can do.
I get inundated with what seems to be totally random leads with no actionable information mixed in with the actionable ones.
The depth of configurability has been a huge benefit for our organization, a global enterprise company with a complex international business structure.
It is hard to use if you don't know your way around. It also does a lot so some companies have it configured much differently.
Marketo is good for setting up marketing campaigns and tracking revenue generated through campaigns.
I like the web based access and it is intuitive and easy to customize depending on your report needs or just preference.

A good amount of details and marketing capabilities. HubSpot has some of the best integrations I have seen with other platforms.
I am disappointed with the number of panel limits you can have with the contracted plan. The other disadvantage is that UX can be tricky at times.
HubSpot helps track, monitor and create the best content for growing my business. I have seen great strides from using this company.
Any interactions with any person who works at HubSpot. Arrogant, rude, condescending, lacking any understanding of business rules.
Lots of cool features that are quite easy to use. Great academy to learn how to take good advantage of all the features.
It's frankly disgusting that this company relies on such draconian measures as a source of revenue.
It is a basic organizer and it helps you to design perfect plans for your marketing strategy. By using this tool I saved time and increased the power of my marketing plans.
Worst experience ever with any software company.
I love the flexible nature that comes with the usage of this application and the user-friendly quality that makes it easy to read and interprete flow charts with ease.
A very strong customer support which is responsive in time ensures a stable and strong market growth. Its ability to provide a mobile app really gives my business an edge to boom.
This software supports all business sizes from small to big hence facilitating growth of the whole enterprise. A good emailing platform really makes record keeping easy and efficient.
It is my favorite CRM that I have tried. The free version is really nice and user friendly and there are more features when you upgrade.
The software has great reports and makes it easy to understand how and where you are driving leads to your business. The platform also has a very slick interface so it's easy to navigate.
I found their API really nice to work with as I had to ping pong data from our own CMS back and forth to HubSpot. Their support developer team was a great help as well.
It offers a great array of tools that are build on a solid core Platform has a fair cost with exceptional support and community.
Also, Hubspot's customer support is really amazing. You can get someone on the phone in minutes which is so important when you are trying to deliver things under a deadline.
3 days is enough to learn and understand how it's work. The value for money is good and features are great too.
Ease of use, optimal automation performances, the program is robust. It positively meets the needs of the company.

I've had a very positive experience. The help desk was able to respond to some of my questions pretty quickly, I like the functionality and my emails look good.
I have had instances where the emails sometimes end up in the spam folder or promotions folder, which can be annoying and needs to be figured out.
Mailchimp is very great software. I like how it's easy to interface, and how you can clean the data.
Mailchimp is used by many which means that spam filters are more likely to tag your emails as spam. I did not have any other problems with Mailchimp.
I like how Mailchimp keeps track of my audience and helps me categorize them for different types of emails. I also like being able to create appealing and interactive emails for my viewers.
For a company that's been around as long as Mailchimp has, it's crazy to me how bad the UX/UI is. It's just hard to use so much of the time.
The greatest benefit to using this program is the integration possibilities. It is compatible with a lot of the other software/programs we use so integration was seamless and saved time & money.
Very confusing, very difficult to figure out where to click , also when you input a wrong email address it blocks your whole process of sending emails to others.
Their dedication to improvement is a positive sign for the company. There is a reason that they are the industry standard.
Mailchimp is the best, I have learned about their features, and they are perfect especially for a beginning business or business with a small following. They make it really easy for you to use.
It was great - I love them and suggest them to all friends getting started, I wouldn't trust any other company for a product in this price range and offering.
The templates are great and quite efficient. It's really easy to set up a campaign and the option to make a landing page right there is awesome.
This software is great for social media, has advanced features with it and allows you to have a free trial with it. The email campaign is very straight forward and easy to use.
I like the ease of use of this software and how you send 2000 emails for free before you transfer to a paid membership. They are a great company and have been in business for years.
I love to use mailchimp for email marketing most especiallly when i want to generate lead. THEIR Landing page is superb.
Its broad feature set and ease of use are an amazing help to a new company just getting started. If you're not looking for custom integration or transactional emails, this product is one of the best.
It has been a good experience, would recommend specially if you are just starting creating your newsletters and want to practice before spending a significant amount of money on this type of software.
The easy to read interface and the ease of printing. The hospitality from customer service is great.

They were very responsive and did a great job helping me figure out the best way to use the software. The Event tool was nice and make event management through the list easy to do.
Given the circumstances of the pandemic and not using the services to even log in during the last year, that was inconsiderate and unacceptable.
The data reporting on opens/clicks/etc. Is incredibly helpful to track which emails gain a good response and which time of the week works best to send to our audiences.
Very disappointing, frustrating, and countless email cammpaigns have been wasted due to Constant Contacts software rearranging and distoring the format of the original created email.
The program is easy to customize, There are plug and play templates as I like to call them. They look beautiful from the consumer side and are easy to understand from the creative side too.
I was disappointed when the dropped the event portion of their program and integrated with Eventbrite.
The software is easy to learn, use, and the templates for the emails are nice yet simple to customize. The feedback about open rates is good and it's easy to setup follow-up campaigns.
But advertised as a CRM and contact management to me. It is expensive for the purpose and you can not pay per use which is unfair to most.
The interface of this tool is very excellent, clean, and easy to use. It is helping me to send emails to my customers within just a few clicks—it is fully automated.
Whenever I have a question, the techs are so helpful and can direct me to exactly what I need. I also love that it can be integrated with Donor Perfect.
The price at the time was good. It was our first software for emails, so this had a lot of wow factors for us.
It is super easy to use and allows for quick emails out to contacts in the database. I love that you can schedule emails prior to as that allows me to plan ahead.
I love that it's so easy to use and integrates with websites, e-commerce platforms, etsy, and so much more. Customer support is awesome if you have any problems.
Always a great experience using Constant Contact ... and on the very rare occasion when I may have a question or concern, their Customer Support is excellent.
My overall experience with constant contact is pretty good. I found it to be one of the most user friendly.
I did appreciate how the software doesn't require a lot of checkboxes stating you have consent to use the list, and just trusts you.
The customized templates and reporting features are great, and well worth the cost, which I find to be very reasonable and minimal, compared to the ROI that I receive.
I've found it to be one of the easier platforms to create email campaigns on, and the reporting and analytics are more advanced. Also customer support is great.

Embedded chats with history are quite nice, it has both the messages and notes left by the supporting team members to each other. Chat itself works quite good and overall thing of a good quality.
Their customer service has been incredible poor. They caused a completely preventable service disruption that caused several hours of outage for our team, and have been difficult to get in touch with.
Intercom is overall a really good, professional product. They have great quality of support, good training material, and they still keep releasing.
We have stuck with intercom for 4 years at this point and no plans to leave.
When we were first started using them, they were flexible, had great customer service, and seemed genuinely invested in helping us succeed.
Updates may be lost, updates may be rejected by intercom because of server side exceptions, or mysterious thing called "concurrent updates" when there is just a single update.
Integrations are just fabulous and once done, every marketer or even customer care folks will be so happy, if trained properly.
The customer support and account management is absolutely horrible.
The product really has a good user experience for the end-user. Fantastic that you can have the same customer support on both website and in the app, which all are linked up together.
This has been a great product for communicating things to our users. Easy to use and has a great support team.
Inside the company, we use the intercom as our support chat. In general is a pretty good, nice interface, easy to use in general.
Intercom is great for tracking user engagement, support, and marketing. I love that you can see what a user is doing on your site and send messages (email or chat) based on specific criteria.
It feels like the team at intercom has come into it's stride. New features like Series, Guides ect and most importantly - how they all work together - has made it a much better experience.
Makes your team very accessible, also makes the support process simple for the end users. Good integrations and useful statistics provided.
I really like how it lets my team assist our customers in real-time. Aside from that, it lets us send pictures, links, etc and tours to help the customer troubleshoot with ease.
Intercom is simple, easy to use, and great for website chats. It is very easy for customers to interact with.
Very nice software with only positive experiences so far.
It has fair amount of rich content options, though they cost extra.

Pros and Cons from Lead Gen & CRM (formerly SharpSpring) users
+15
Not only is it affordable for a small agency like mine, who works with small businesses, but it's extremely powerful, and capable of executing any strategy my team or my clients require.
The constant failure of the system, the automations fail. They are not fixing the bugs.
I love the ease of use, interface, but most importantly all of Sharpspring employees, and how quickly they respond with tips, ideas, and help with support.
Their billing platform is absolutely ridiculous. They bill your clients directly, and not the agency using the platform saying that the client is the end user, not the agency managing the account.
This allows us to better understand and track our users and help determined the best platforms to promote our campaigns.
We are now remarketing to leads that were missed during the initial buying cycle and reclaiming that lost revenue on top of increasing our close rate on new clients.
I love all the metrics it provides me which helps me cater my newsletter and make adjustments as needed. This is so important so I can actually alter my content for my audience.
The only con I can think of is the lack of display/functionality options in the form and landing page builder.
Very good experience, easy to use, they were helpful on the CRM integration. Overall a very positive experience.
Very pleasant experience so far. Great service and some keen insights about our audience and site visitors.
The price and support speak a lot about the company. The fact that its packed full of features that are easy to use makes it a great product for good value.
Sharpspring is a very powerful program and well worth the price. The integration team was very helpful in getting us up and going and the support team has been available for questions along the way.
SharpSpring has been a successful decision for our agency since we got it in 2017. Within the first month it was making a huge positive difference for us and our clients.
SharpSpring has great customer support team that is always there to answer my questions and help me to get a solution.
Great product with a good cost benefit ratio and a great support.
I have improved in my ability to navigate and save time. It would seem that every day I find a new trick or workflow that saves me time and makes money for my company.
The customer service of our account reps are outstanding. They helped us create some things that were never done before.
I find this product is relatively user friendly, I especially like all the details in the analytics. All the information you ever needed and more.

Pros and Cons from Campaign Monitor by Marigold users
+15
Campaign Monitor is an excellent email automation tool that is user-friendly and easy to use. It has an intuitive interface, great customer support, and comprehensive analytics.
We disliked that the platform seemed to be split between different names. Sometimes the login would redirect us to another website which was a bit weird.
Although testing on the likes of litmus is great, Campaign monitor gives the ability to test emails EXACTLY. This has been excellent for development and my learning about email code.
Some parts of the UI are cumbersome and feel stuck in another internet era. Some services can be very pricey if you don't have a subscription.
The ease of use, depth of reporting, and helpful support team. I like the ability to change and alter the campaign up until the last minute, even if delivery has been scheduled.
Some features and configurations can be a bit hard to figure out without a fairly technical background. Email builder templates felt a bit restrictive in terms of styling and formatting options.
Campaign Monitor lets me create, send, manage and track eblasts with great ease. It has a high number of quality templates and automation is very easy.
Plus, not being able to marry together the email insights into our customer actions/deals/leads was a big hindrance.
The great thing with this is the Price is very competitive and it offers a bit more than the others.
Campaign Monitor is wonderful. I recommend it enthusiastically to anyone looking for a full service, easy to use email platform.
I liked the documentation, it's nice and easy to read as well as follow.
I realized that it is much easier to create a campaign that contain a good design visuals. Thanks to its templates.
Campaign Monitor has great integrations that allow us to use it throughout our platforms and connected to other software we are using.
Analytics: powerful and easy to understand which has evolved out marketing team to be able to properly target and understand our marketing strategy.
I love that this software lets you either upload your own custom coded emails OR you can use their email builder.
Campaign Monitor recently bought Conversio Emails. The price is very competitive for all the things it offers.
Dashboards and analytics are all intuitive and easy to use. Automation journeys are easy to build and update.
We've had the same code running for years and have never run into issues. The API is very stable and after 5 years we haven't had any issues, no breaking changes or anything related to it.

I love the feature where you can resend your email to a batch of subscribers who didn't open the first email. I also love that they recommend exactly when your email will most likely be opened.
I HATE that you have to break up the text to add photos - if they insist that photos have to be full-width, just do that, it was a dumb decision to force user to add a new text box after every photo.
The best thing that i like about this software is its ability to segment audience quickly and exporting information to database from external sources.
We have had a lot of small issues with Robly. The most concerning issues being emails never arriving to subscribers and emails going directly into spam folders.
I love the templates and options for sending and then resending when the first isn't opened. I love the helps to increase percentage of readers too.
Sometimes, I find the design options a little confusing.
I like the ease of use of this software. Robly (and its helpful learn more buttons) demystify powerful marketing features and make sending emails a breeze.
With every "update" Robly gets harder and harder to use and now I can't even upload or import photos anymore. The design functions are limited and slow to load, that's when they're not glitching.
My organization has really come to enjoy Robly and how easy it is to us. Favorite features include: contacts are very easy to upload, OpenGen feature and the campaign overviews and analytics.
Ease of use, simplicity of the platform, great integration with social media.
Their customer service is responsive and kind.
Robly is one of good email management platform based on WYSIWYG edition. It has variety of customizable templates and I used some of for my marketing campaign.
The pricing of the software is just right. That makes it very attractive to me.
How easy it is to add pictures, colors, buttons, etc. to create a visually appealing newsletter or email campaign.
Probably my favorite thing, though: integration with Zapier. We have cobbled together our own MarTech stack, and Zapier is a key element that ties it all together.
I feel Robly is much easier tool to use with drag and drop, list features, contact building, branding, and the chat support is amazing.
Originally, we were attracted to the price, which was half the price of what we had been paying.
Designing emails with Robly is straightforward and fast with an easy to use interface.

Originally, we were attracted to the price, which was half the price of what we had been paying.
Designing emails with Robly is straightforward and fast with an easy to use interface.

Act-On is extremely easy to use and starts providing working data immediately. Act-On has a quality product with a friendly UI and wonderful support when the occasional question comes up.
In some cases, metrics are just a bit confusing. In particular, there's a metric that compares SEO-type things, but the explanation is inadequate.
I like the breadth of capabilities with superior customer support by both the Customer Success Manager and Technical Support.
It could have better designed templates for emails and landing pages; the ones provided are dreadful. There is a major shortcoming, though, and I think it's a fatal one: e-mail deliverability.
There may be other big brands out there, but this is a great solution at an affordable price.
As a small business testing out systems this is horrible.
And the customer support was outstanding; at times, they were reaching out to me, asking me if I needed anything or if I had seen new features that were introduced, etc.
When we tried to cancel they refused and sent the account to a collection agency...well done Act-on. Any world class software company doesn't try to trick clients into sticking with them.
It's user friendly, has a nice design, and serves the basic purpose of helping you stay in touch with your customers and build a marketing plan for your brand.
AVOID these guys at all cost. The ux is poor and you'll need a dedicated in house resource to learn and operate a sub-optimal system.
Great support and product learning program. The integration with our CRM and overall features/ease-of-use was excellent.
It's very robust and provides connectors and performance in outbound social and email, scoring, competitive insights, just like it's competitors but without paying for a Farrarri.
This software has great features. Act On is easy to use with the available instructions and other help information.
It really helps with workflow management and offers a lot of marketing tools that are helpful.
The best thing is that you can be extra specific when targeting customers. The interface and metrics are major plus points too.
Our team are really happy with the metrics and insights available through Act-On.
It was easy to upload your email creative and get the campaign going.
Once we figured it our, it was extremely smart and well designed workflow.
