Pros

The customer service at Bloomerang is the best I have ever experienced in this field. I am also thrilled to continue to learn about how customizable the platform can be to our needs.
It's easy to use, customer support is outstanding, and it integrates our online donation platform, fundraising software, donor retention score, and e-mail marketing all in one piece of software.
Their support is top notch. I love that they take customer feedback seriously and are constantly improving the functionality of their tool.

Pros

What I love about the product is that it is easy for us who are new to accounting to use, but also robust enough that our treasure (CPA) is able to use it in more complex ways.
The webinars and support areas offered are always helpful as well. Lastly, I personally enjoy the humor of the Aplos team; and the occasional contests/prizes are fun, too.
Clearly designed for non-professionals like me - a volunteer doing a treasurer's job. Loved it from the first time I started playing with it during the free trial period.

Cons

Previously, we had a very confusing donor software that provided no customer support.
This new group doesn’t support using software and had gone back to spreadsheets and notebooks to keep track of donors. The executive director left and the pros dead.
The only problem that I have identified so far is that I cannot generate letters to notificants of tributes by creating a letter with filters.

Cons

Ongoing problems, month after month, in many areas. Then the response time to get problems resolved is unacceptable and you are stuck in their hands until it works in their schedule.
I lost data at least a couple of times trying to look up accounts while entering a Receipt because I wasn't warned that navigating away from the receipt would delete my entry.
Our biggest complaint has been in the area of reporting. It is difficult to get the report info needed for our accountants.

Bloomerang

Bloomerang Has Made My Job Easier

I love this product! It is easy (and fun) to use, and the interface looks great.

Pros

I serve in a dual role, so I needed donor management software that saved me time. Bloomerang not only saves me time and readily provides key metrics and insights, it helps me to serve and communicate with our constituents far more effectively.

Cons

I like that it integrates with our FireSpring website, but I don’t like that the integration doesn’t extend to our payment gateway with PaymentSpring. Also, we have our account integrated with APLOS, but I don’t feel like I have a good understanding of how that is working.

Only worth it if you can't afford something better

Pros

It's relatively easy to use out of the box. It's not very customize-able, which is a good thing if you are new to databases and a frustrating thing if you need the software to do anything beyond the very basics. And you can get a 1-year license through Tech Soup if you're a nonprofit. That's the biggest plus.

Cons

I've spoken with folks at Bloomerang, and find them incredibly inflexible and unhelpful when it comes to taking customer feedback. They have a product that only works for the most basic kind of record keeping. For example, we used it with a client that works exclusively with LGBTQ folks, and there was no way to alter the gender options. They also REFUSE to create an integration for QuickBooks Online,...

You'll be happy to know that we do now have a QuickBooks Online integration: https://bloomerang.co/blog/new-feature-quickbooks-online/ We've also added a third user permission as of 3/26/18 that will allow only certain users to add, edit, and delete transactions, and are actively building more! I'd love to know more about your ideas for how we can improve the gender options in Bloomerang. We?re sensitive to this (it's why we've done things like adding the honorific "Mx" as an option).
