DONATION vs Donarius Comparison

I tried a few programs early on in my time as treasurer (which is 17 years now), including Quickbooks and Donarius. I found Donation much easier to use than Donarius. Our needs are fairly straightforward and Donation allows for easy multiple donation entries for a given day. Also, the support has been great. Every question I've ever asked was answered usually within 24 hours. They even added features to the program at my request!

This program is really meant for tracking donations only. It's not meant to be a complete CRM system, so some folks may find it limited in that regard.

Would like some more reporting options. Would be nice to show both a cash donation and a cheque donation from the same donor on the same date.

It is simple to use and covers all the needs I need to post weekly donations. It isn't a costly program like others I looked into. Others are also complicated. You are able to selective what certain features you need.

We added the Pledge module, but I wasn't happy with it.

User-friendly. Affordable (low priced). Has lots of featrures. Reliable (does not crash). Help facility gives lots of info. Allows you to do a lot of things with your data(reports, graphs, labels, mailings, directories).

Can't think of any.

Donor tracking capability. Donation totals and reporting for tax reporting.

Interface is old-fashioned. Does not provide integration with other client-management software.

It is flexible and easy to change or add donors.

Not being able to remove or change titles on donation areas

This is the most advanced donation tracking software available for the price.

Mail Merge Letter writing function is not very user friendly, but tech support is more than available to help work through the kinks.

The latest version does what the customer asked for in the "Cons" section - he has been emailed about it.

There is nothing so far I can think of.

The software is relatively easy & straightforward to use. I am able to complete weekly donations input in approximately 30 minute time frame. with the lastest revision, for multiple donations from one donor, able to press F8 and the next donation for the same donor will appear.

I really do not have any complaints / concerns about the software program. Two improvements that would be nice to have: 1. When you move to the next donor, whatever donation field was previously used, the donation goes automatically into that category which is not always the case. You need to be very careful that the donation amount & category for each donor is correct. 2. Be able to select additional fields / donation categories and in the order that would make more sense. not easily changeable.

Easy to use. Interfaces with Vanco Solutions (our online donation system). Customer service is excellent!

Occasionally, while entering donations, the 'sync' is interrupted. After entering a donation, the software usually goes to the donor number/envelope number ready for the next search; however, sometimes it stays in the amount recording field after hitting enter causing an error in the donation amount.

I found this software intuitive enough that our volunteer book keeper was able to use it on a regular basis without issue. Produced Tax receipts and tracked miscellaneous donations as well as regular ones. Our accountant was pleased that he only had to review at the end of the year - it took the burden off him on a weekly basis. The tax receipts was huge - saved us from manually creating all of them.

The software itself had an older look and feel and I felt it could have been updated more frequently.

All I need is in the program and to make the yearly donation receipts is very simple. Creating the yearly donation receipt was only a simple click command and it was done. This was the best part of the program for me.

A little more work to delete inactive numbers. I just needed to work through the commands to find what I needed most.

Order of donation type changed from set up page. Don't know how to change that.

This software is simple to use and meets our needs. I like that there are various reports that I can generate ie. specific donors, specific dates of donation, and donations to specific causes.

This software is complicated to run on Mac. It requires software that will run windows programs on Max

Easy client data entry, good reports, lots of room to add causes

donation entry is not so easy when you have al lot of causes, takes a bit of searching

Donarius has proven to be much more user friendly than the previous product we used. It has been rock solid, with no corruption or data loss issues. The product support has always been same day in my experience

Still working on laying out and printing donation receipts, but this latest upgrade should take care of that. Have found the input screen to be a little cramped- again the latest release addresses that.

Very user-friendly and easy to understand.

It's hard to change the member number.

It's intuitive and really easy to use. And the customer support is stellar. No one gives this kind of patient, customer-focused support and that's why I recommend it to everyone I know.

I honestly have no complaints and i have been using this for multiple NPOs for years.

It does exactly what it says it will do, for a very reasonable price.

I wish we could figure out how to change the programming for thank you letters so it would show what program (ministry) the donation was applied to.

The customer was shown how to update thank you letters to add the program donated to.

I have used Donarius to record church offerings for four years and have found it to be an invaluable tool. Set-up and entry are simple. There are many reports available for preparing financials, tracking pledges and issuing reports. I am especially looking forward to the newest version that will allow me to email reports to donors. Customer service is wonderful, and I have never had a problem with the software. The discount offered to smaller congregations is also a welcomed and appreciated feature.

The only con in 3.44 was the lack of a calendar to simplify entry of the date of the donation. That has been added in the latest version.

Pretty straightforward if you know how to use it

First entry for donation defaults to the first person in the database - can lead to errors if you don't catch it. Bit tricky to change the format of receipt.
