great customer service!

Reviewed 6 years ago

We are managing our database and fundraising. It has been amazing to streamline the two! We used to use several platforms for all of our needs and we found that it was nearly impossible to maintain accurate records that way, the inconsistency was inevitable. Salsa has really helped us solve that issue by creating a system (with a reasonable price tag) that talks to one another. For example, a ticket sale online will go directly into a record!

Pros

The diverse features available and they are always updating to stay current with trends! I am grateful for the constant updates and the variety of options available.

Cons

The implementation was a bit rocky but customer service worked with us a lot and we got through it! We were moving from google drive and several other platforms for ticket sales, emails, etc. so we didn't have any experience with this. It eventually all worked out and the Salsa team really stepped up to accommodate our needs.

Executive Director

Reviewed 6 years ago

It is a challenge and you have to put a ticket in for every problem. We are a small organization and wanted a simple program. This is a full time position.

Pros

Price, online data is transferred to the CRM. The Engage and CRM merge. We were able to get rid of Event Brite. We can all access the CRM and use it at one time. This is helpful.

Cons

Transfer of data was a problem. We would up with over 10,000 duplicates and it is taking us forever to delete them. Also the user experience was poor. Our constituents say it is too complicated. Membership is a challenge.

Vendor response

Dear Suzanne, Duplicates are a very serious issue for nonprofits and Salsa recently created a new utility to help resolve those without having to review each potential duplicate one by one. I will follow up with you personally to make sure your team is able to use this feature and is able to resolve your many duplicate records efficiently. Our team is also more than happy to work with you to ease any questions on the system user interface. Thank you, Andrew Shoaff Director, Customer Success Salsa Labs ashoaff@salsalabs.com

Overall Salsa CRM is a good system.

Reviewed 7 years ago

Feel they could use more support. Though their support team is always friendly and helpful, don't always receive answers in a timely manner. A lot of back and fourth with email when picking up the phone would be faster and easier.

Pros

For the most part Salsa CRM is user friendly, the cost is reasonably priced and works well for our foundation.

Cons

Some features were misleading, did not offer certain things needed for our foundation. Always room for improvement.s

Vendor response

Lisa, our apologies for not being more clear. Please give us a call and we'll work to find the proper solutions you need for your foundation. Thanks for your feedback.

Great training and very friendly customer service. It was very easy to make our transition from our old CRM system to the new system. We love that Salsa CRM is affordable and it meets our needs.

Pros

Quick system, easy to navigate, affordable, great training materials, syncs with Constant Contact

Cons

I wish that we could upload contacts and donations from an excel spreadsheet into the system.

Started with no experience of Donor Pro, got some lessons, and much, much assistance from the Help Desk.

Reviewed 7 years ago

Is it possible to choose programs rather than the whole setup?

Pros

I like the things I can do - like go into a file and have a wealth of info. Again, the Help Desk -- that I like best..

Cons

That there are many, many things on it that we do not need or use. If we could just have our needs, it would probably be more cost efficient.

Combine several softwares with this one solution

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Salsa CRM consolidated our record keeping into one online platform. We can now do event management, donation tracking, donor communications and so much more with this one solution. Since it is a new merger, it is extremely affordable for all of the functionality.

Cons

The transition to the new software was a bit rocky but we were transferring information from several other platforms.

Better than we had, but funtionality, training and best practices not nearly robust enough.

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

Ease of use, reports robust, ability to ask donor to cover fees, custom fields in various areas to cover what the database doesn't.

Cons

Cost per person instead of range, no user forum or place to add suggestions for improvment in an easy and transparent way, password functionality misfunctions, would like to see Salsa Engage more user friendly like Constant Contact in terms of creating a newsletter or fundraising page from template, linking membership to gifts, no automatic save function, or reminder to save;

Vendor response

Hi Jessica - Thanks for your review. Salsa does have tools to help with best practices and training. Keep looking

Reviewed 2 years ago

If you just need a simple tracking system, Salsa CRM is good, but very expensive for just that ability. For integrating peer to peer and other functionality, we found it clunky. There were other options that, if not cheaper, were at least vastly better at performing tasks.

Pros

The features are more robust than some of the other software we had used, so it seemed like a good move from our old software. My favorite feature is probably the ability to leave a prominent note about a contact.

Cons

The conversion from our old software did not go smoothly and they were less than sympathetic about helping us, even though we paid for them to do the conversion. Ultimately, the software was not as robust as we understood that it would be, and the API interactions were sometimes problematic.

We are a very small new charity - I set up all registrations, peer-to-peer events, email blasts.

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

The software is somewhat easy to use - after you play with it a while, you can usually figure it out.

Cons

I have been told our platform looks cheap and almost to the point where people are unsure whether it's "legitimate". It does not have all the capabilities that Donor Pro's peer-to-peer software had so we are unhappy that it feels like we are getting less for our money this year. (e.g. participants were unable to track off-line donations)

Vendor response

Cherrie - Thanks for writing a review. In our next release (rolling out end July 2017), you will see lots of changes in our peer to peer fundraising functionality. Major enhancements include pre-designed templates and a new UX for supporters for professional looking personal pages. We have added the ability to also track offline donations. We hope you'll provide us with direct feedback on our new releases. We do incorporate suggestions from our clients into our new release so please do let us know what you'd like to see.

Salsa CRM is THE tool for success

Reviewed 7 years ago

Salsa CRM has been one of the easiest transitions to a new tool that I've ever experienced. From the very beginning, we were supported and guided through preparing our data for the conversion, connected with staff to train us on how to make the most of the features. After we implemented the tool, the wide variety of support and training materials has made getting the answer to any question incredibly easy. Salsa CRM gives you all the functionality of an expensive system at an affordable rate. This is the third organization I've worked for using Salsa and the second that I've led the transition from a different system.

Pros

It is easy to use and intuitive. The ability to create processes for cultivation and other engagement activities is invaluable and makes managing a growing team of fundraisers far easier.

Cons

Salsa CRM being a newer product that was based on the DonorPro platform, the manual wasn't immediately updated to reflect the online, cloud-based product.

I liked it but I was not impressed.

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

It's a good software for raising funds, and simple details of Non-Profit companies. I can say the software is relatively easy to learn and setup, I am definitely ok with it.

Cons

I do not like how it is for the Non - Profit market, with no online pricing. You have to request pricing which means you will be talking to a salesman, not that it is bad. That is kinda good knowing they have people selling it who actually know about it, but again, Non - Profit that must talk to a salesman. Maybe it is just me, but in the end that is the only thing I did not like about it.

A great CRM!

Reviewed 5 years ago

Our staff all agree it's easier to learn, easier to use, and we have all really liked our Customer Support, and Customer Success Coach. They have helped grow to really thrilled with this CRM! And the price is a wonder factor, also. Great ROI.

Pros

I initially looked at Salsa CRM because we were fed up with Raiser's Edge, and I had faith that better, and more affordable option exist! Salsa is that software for us. This CRM is user friendly, looks great, super intuitive, and the seals people were really kind and patient with my five zillion questions! This CRM has buit-in Analytics that are user friendly, the mail merge integrates with Google Docs, making our thank you process, simpler than ever! We have already grown our lists, and increased retention in the 6 months we've been using Salsa! The other HUGE factor for us, it integrates with Salsa Engage.

Cons

Change from one database to another. that's all.

Salsa has been a game changer for our small nonprofit!

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

Reasonably priced, Salsa offers an affordable way to track, organize and engage our supporters. As an advocacy organization, we especially love the action alert, petition and letter to the editor options.

Cons

One downside is that it's difficult to separate out event income from donation income. Most of the built in reports automatically add up both totals when querying.

Very Satisfied Donor Pro Users!

Reviewed 8 years ago
Pros

The tech support and service is exceptional. Every question receives a quick and thorough response. The functionality is very good for what we need. The cost is very reasonable and we are able to afford additional modules.

Cons

We are very satisfied with the product. We have only one suggestion for improvement. We would like to see a better integration within the Event Module itself. Every entry is listed as a registrant/attendee. We have sponsors who are non-attendees and we would like to keep the sponsors separate from the registrants.

Very comprehensive, if you have time to learn it

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

This tool is based on a CRM system framework and this team has clearly integrated a full featured CRM tool using a great interface. It's ease of use is predicated on you understanding how a CRM is generally structured, how it's organized, and how non-profit communications are conducted. The pricing model is all or nothing, no tiers of capabilities which is refreshing and its very competitively priced. I would say that out of all the non-profit software that I've reviewed, this had the most features of any and did so in a great interface. For our needs, it was a bit too much of a leap to get people up to speed and learn the system in a short amount of time.

Cons

So just out of the gate as a new user, there are a lot of assumptions on what you know, the time you have to learn it, and how quickly you can get up to speed. It also assumes a certain level of technical savviness that may be more than you or the users currently have or are willing to dedicate. If you feel that you or your team is "not very technical" then be sure to allow for a steep learning curve.

Easy to use and good product for the price

Reviewed 3 years ago

It was really easy to get started with Salsa Engage. The staff people are fantastic to work with and very responsive. The webinars and online classes are helpful. We are really please with our choice.

Pros

The Salsa Engage product had enough functionality to fill our needs but not too much so that we felt like we were wasting money for bells and whistles we weren't going to use.

Cons

Even though we did the onboarding session, there is functionality that I know is there, but I can't figure out how to use yet.

A newer merger makes the price more affordable than competitors!

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Salsa has recently merged with donor pro making prices lower while offering more features than other options out there. This is great for cost-conscious organizations. Additionally, the fees are charged monthly per record, creating an incentive to keep your database clean.

Cons

Salsa CRM has a partner product for external marketin, engage, and the integration could use improvements. For example, the ticketing features from engage do not translate into CRM as clean as you would hope.

Pros

Salsa Equips constituents with digital marketing, peer-to-peer fundraising and advocacy tools. Bottom line, there is no limit to how one can share an organization's cause! Also, the automated communications allow you to develop sets of tasks that help you engage with constituents. This is extremely helpful when developing relationships with our givers (who doesn't appreciate a timely response to a gift?).
