DEAR Inventory Features In Depth

Purchasing

Using DEAR Inventory, businesses can create and track each phase of the purchasing process. Once a purchase order has been created, it appears in the list of orders for easy tracking. The order is submitted to the specified vendor, automating the ordering process to remove the burden from workers. Businesses can also access information on the reorder level of all stock.

Through reporting, businesses can see all purchase orders, with separate reports available for pending purchase orders and purchase cost analysis. A Supplier/Product report can show all activity with a specific supplier or product for a specific date range, as well as all pending orders for that supplier or product.

Inventory

Managing inventory can be difficult, especially as a business’s product offerings grow. Once an item is entered into the inventory system, it can be transferred and adjusted within DEAR Inventory. DEAR Inventory supports many aspects of inventory not available in other solutions, like serial numbers, batch/log tracking, and expiration dates.

An Inventory Aging Report can help an organization pinpoint all items with upcoming expiration, preventing waste by giving businesses an opportunity to move that inventory at a reduced rate in the weeks leading up to a product’s end of life. DEAR Inventory supports a FEFO (First Expiry First Out) costing method to further prevent waste. If a product requires a recall, businesses can conduct a batch/lot recall within DEAR Inventory.

Logical Workflow

DEAR Inventory’s happy customers list its logical workflow as one of its biggest benefits. Each section of the app works with other sections to create a seamless process for users. When integrated with other apps used by a business, DEAR Inventory can provide an easy-to-learn interface for everyone within the organization.

With DEAR Inventory’s Users & Permissions setting, managers can give each user the access he or she needs. Editing capabilities can be locked down to only those employees who need to add and remove information, with others within the organization only having the ability to read information.

Production Tracking

Manufacturers can keep up with production on each item through DEAR Inventory’s production section. Even before production starts, DEAR Inventory can be used for job costing and to issue an item to production. Inside the application, users can view the Bill of Materials and wastage percentages.

DEAR Inventory can also help with Disassembly manufacturing. Within the system, businesses can enter an item and include the quantity that needs to be disassembled.

Accounting Integration

Because DEAR Inventory works with the accounting applications businesses already use, updating financial data as items are ordered and sold. This reduces duplicate entry and reduces the risk of error due to missed entries.

With the ability to pull reports, businesses can have updated information on all aspects of their organization in just minutes. Everything will be located in the cloud, giving professionals the ability to login from any internet-connected device to view up-to-date information.

inventory management allows for multiple warehouse locations and plentiful products. customer lookup easy

Cons

reporting awful support unhelpful/non-existent getting information out of the system into excel/CSV files is difficult, creating multiple lines of data that need to be merged. Invoicing is slow the biggest problem is no real support and no services available to support in local markets

Inventory and sales order management

Pros

You can search in many ways, the amount of information available by reports is GREAT!

Cons

It is extremely expensive to add a user. I don't think that it should cost that much to add a user. I also don't like that it was setup initially by me as a user and now that I am an Advisor, I can't change that. It is costing the company extra money to pay for me as a user. Being that I am the one that recommended the software, I think this is unfair.

Reports are further customisable with ability to ¿drag and drop¿ a variety of data fields and can be exported to Excel for further modifications if necessary. Inflexible invoices ¿ DEAR utilises Word document type templates specifically for this reason, flexibility. You can reach out to support for template customisation at any time as you have done in the past. Bulk printing ¿ you can select sales or purchases from the relevant list and then select the documents you would like to print in bulk. Xero integration ¿ DEAR is a ¿5 star¿ rated Xero application in the Recommended Category and was nominated App Partner of November 2017. DEAR utilises Xero API almost in its entirety, however, if you have some suggestions on how to improve the integration we are happy listen.

client is able to get away from tracking inventory on spreadsheets and can track goods by lot, recognize free / discounted goods easily in their onhands

Pros

Easy and intuitive, allows for sku consolidation from Amazon, real time. Quite a bit of information in the reporting tools, but I think the criteria screen is a little intimidating if you are not familiar with data cubes.

Cons

I would like to see some bulk processing functions added - eg mass disassemblies (break down different cases / flavors in one disassembly as opposed to one disassembly per flavor). Average costing would be a nice option.

I've been searching for warehouse management system about a year.

Cons

Main cons, they are minor: - auto-disassembly does not work, have to disassemble products manually; - does not have integrations with some marketplaces (WISH for example); - can not update tracking information at marketplaces after an order was shipped; - templates and merge fields are not easy to understand.

DEAR - faster JSON access (no limitation of 60 calls per second) - no need to UNDO sales for non essential information fields change - ability to edit allocation of products - ability to edit batch/serial information - Reports 1) shows clear information of Sale Order that have not been 1) shiped, 2) invoiced. 2) be able to extract information related to earning power of a product (% margin x rotation of a product) - Ability to limit sales bellow certain margin or price - Dashboard with historical inventory and accounts receivables graphs (currently not available) - Rename product fields (example: type, category, brand, stock locator, barcode…) - Additional fields available on more reports - reports are missing a lot of related information that could / should be available

Much clearer picture of inventory, movements via batch, customer purchases etc

it has a lot of great features and is fairly easy to use, customer support is very good, prompt and very informative.

Cons

Or you have to run several reports if you want to see both batches and customers etc. Exporting to excel is also problematic; the fields you see in the report are added to when you send to excel and the number formatting of 4 decimal places is just annoying.

One of the big pros for us was the ability to use and track serial numbers.

Cons

I did the implementation and training for the software, and one area I found a bit lacking is documentation of how the program works. There are youtube videos on many features of the program, but things that are not covered in videos you have to figure out by trial and error.

Our processes are quite unique and finding a software that could meet most requirements was really hard. The API is quite open and documentation is clear and complete.

Pros

This is the BEST inventory (almost ERP) system out there.

Cons

Somewhat rigid and limited in reports. The reports I want to run never seem to be possible without downloading 2 reports and analyzing them with excel.

Pros

it can be integrated in other useful program, it can manage a business and able to monitor your in and out and can be extracted to a report too.

Cons

cant tell that right now, weve been using this for last than 6 months and i cant still comment about its negative flow

Great manufacturing aid

For some of our operations--for example when we create 10-30 batches of a particular material--use of the API is almost mandatory for efficient data entry--but generally the interface does a great job.

Pros

Finally, the standard interface is good but the API lets us implement solutions to meet specific needs at various points in our production.

Cons

I also wish the date fields would accept time information so that we could capture real-time production data in the system--at the moment you can only enter a start and stop date when you create finished goods.
