Alternatives to FieldAware

GetApp Analysis

FieldAware is a field service management solution that helps businesses better manage their field service operations (e.g., scheduling, dispatching, routing, invoicing, job tasks, customer management and reporting), generate more revenue, reduce overhead, expedite payment cycles, and reduce customer churn through better customer service. The app allows organizations to mobilize their field service personnel, streamline scheduling, automate workflows and ensure service level compliance.

FieldAware is for any business with eight to 10,000 field workers offering onsite commercial services. Top features include the scheduler, mobile time tracking, mobile quote generation, task lists and PDF (portable document format) forms.

What is FieldAware?

FieldAware leverages the mobility advantage not only by allowing field workers to stay connected with their teams from anywhere at any time but also by equipping them with the necessary tools to get their jobs done, while eliminating the need for a time-consuming communication back-and-forth with the dispatch office.

Built for mobile first, FieldAware’s mobile app is easy to use and takes full advantage of the native hardware and software features of the mobile device. FieldAware native apps are available for the iPhone, iPad and Android. Customization options are also offered to ensure the software works the way businesses need it to work.

Main Features

Scheduling and Dispatch

Operations extending beyond the walls of the office are oftentimes fraught with communication challenges and data collection inefficiencies that eventually amount to lost revenues and business opportunities. FieldAware’s Scheduling and Dispatch features have been designed to keep field engineers and technicians from missing a call window. Office dispatchers, for their part, instantly recognize field workers with jobs completed ahead of schedule and subsequently assign them new jobs by proximity or open time slot.

Because scheduling and job completions are done and reported in real-time, managers, executives and dispatchers are able to quickly determine the productivity of their field workers, either through comprehensive business reports or the scheduler’s graphic user interface.

Mobile Time Tracking

Traditional time tracking practices for field service organizations require field workers to report to the office every day to turn in completed time sheets. FieldAware tracks the time required for field workers to drive to a client location, allowing them to bill for actual travel time. The same is true for other job-related trips, like when procuring additional parts.

FieldAware also enables organizations to view in real-time when field engineers and technicians start and finish work orders, including the status of other job orders.

Mobile Quote Generation

The combined business benefits of mobile devices (e.g., smartphones and tablets) and mobile field service management software for field service organizations in terms of customer satisfaction, productivity, profitability and business intelligence are undeniable. FieldAware’s mobile quote generation function is one good example.

FieldAware enables field technicians to create quotes for additional parts or services even while at the customer’s location. Actual labor rates and part costs are pre-defined, so there’s no need to contact the back office and ask questions. Field workers auto-fill customer information, and select the applicable details from dropdown menus for service, associated tasks and labor rates. Quotes acceptance is done through electronic signature capture.

Tasks List

Tasks are services provided to clients and are comprised of actions, steps and procedures to get a job done. From the FieldAware Task tab, tasks can be created, filtered, imported, exported, and printed. Columns you want to display can be customized and saved.

To create a new task, fill in the task’s details (description, estimated duration, cost, etc.), and once saved, the task will automatically be included in the Tasks List. Later, when you create a new job, tasks can be added to the job screen by selecting them from a dropdown menu. Once a job is started, tasks that are in progress will be shown at the bottom. Come invoicing time, tasks show up as line items in the invoice.

PDF Forms

The ability to edit and fill out PDFs while in the field is a game-changer allowed by FieldAware to field service organizations. Some instances require field personnel to fill out customer, process, and government forms. A PDF form can be edited via a mobile device as long as it’s attached to a job and the job is in active state – meaning, not scheduled, paused or complete. All edits and entries will be stored with the attachment in FieldAware.

The PDF forms can come from Microsoft Word, Excel or Adobe Acrobat. Note that to open a PDF document in Android devices, the device must have an installed PDF reader.

Integrations

FieldAware currently integrates with NetSuite and QuickBooks, and many more integrations are coming. FieldAware’s native API (application programming interface) client also allows businesses to integrate with existing software systems like ERP (enterprise resource planning) and CRM (customer relationship management) to allow for a more seamless information flow, thus reducing data entry requirements.

Pricing

Depending on the number of field workers your organization has and the software features and capabilities your business requires, FieldAware employs three licensing options: Pro, Premium and Enterprise. Pricing is a monthly per-user fee.

Bottom Line

  • All-in-one field service management solution that field workers can literally carry in their pockets
  • Empowers field service personnel via a native mobile app that takes advantage of the mobile device’s pre-installed applications and built-in hardware
  • Data caching enables field workers to work offline in locations where a wireless connection is unavailable
  • Synchronization between the mobile and office web apps follow a two-phase commit approach to guarantee data integrity
  • API and built-in integrations with business tools enable a seamless information flow, reducing data entry needs

customer service and customization!

At K&E Flatwork we are the largest residential flatwork company in the KC Metro area, and we have a growing commercial presence as well. We use FieldAware to schedule all of our jobs. The desktop web-based app allows me to create and change plans as needed. And the mobile app keep our crew leaders informed about job schedules, addresses, contacts, etc. and allows them to access plans as well as builder and city specs. Finally our accounting office uses the completed job reports to help them bill accurately. FieldAware has been an extremely stable and reliable platform for us, functioning without fail and providing good standard features. But I am particularly happy with the ability to customize fields. this allows us to use fieldaware for needs that may be specific to our industry or our company. Finally, I take advantage of the technical support line -- real live people! -- about once per month. I get quick, clear responses from friendly experts. Recommended!

Pros

Customizable. Stable. Great customer service.

Cons

I'd like more options to control reports and filters.

Starts off strong with sales and customer service. Once you actually get past the learning the complicated method to using the program and actually find out all the glitches, they no longer want to respond. Typical response you start getting is "unable to duplicate". My review is almost EXACTLY like all the other ones. Add a user? price goes up. (understandable) delete a user? price doesn't go down. Didn't realize that's what the contract meant? no problem, you can just keep paying for it because it auto renews.

Dare to Aware? F BBB rated company - Now boarding the RMS Titanic!

08/02/2017

FieldAware has an F rating with the BBB and for good reason. This is a terrible company with a terrible record. It's a sinking ship and will only be a matter of time before it goes under. Do you want the backbone of your business to depend on a company that mistreats its customers so bad to the point of an F rating? You have to try to get an F with the BBB and FieldAware is one of those companies. FieldAware currently operates under the FieldAware brand and also runs FieldLocate under the same company. There are hundreds upon hundreds of cloud apps to choose from, this is a company you do not want to do business with. Our company has made every effort possible to avoid going down this road. Joel Hawkins who heads up renewals at FieldAware refuses to let us out of our contract despite not providing any support for the product which was part of the contract agreement. To make a long story short, FieldAware renewed our agreement for 12 months automatically and refuses to lower our license count. Part of the contract was to provide support and training, while we did sign the contract agreeing to auto-renew the software is dead and is no longer under active development and are now shifting customers towards the FieldAware product yet continues to operate it's now defunct FieldLocate. If you are on the fence about signing up with this company, do you really wanna put your faith in a company who maintains an F BBB rating? Feel free to contact me via linked in. I'll give you a free consultation on them.

Pros

- Billing integration was fantastic - Cloud-Based

Cons

- FieldAware currently has an F with the BBB - Terrible leadership - This company is a sinking ship - No support, company runs two separate brands under one roof - Ignores customers - Abandons yet still sells junk product

They charge an outrageous amount of money compared to similar products that are far better. My Customer Service rep spent hours on the phone with their techs and none of the problems were ever fixed. In fact, every time they would try to "fix" something, it got worse. They never delivered what was asked of them. When I tried to break the contract, because I was not receiving what was promised, the threatened to sue me! I wasted THOUSANDS of dollars. They are terrible people.

Pros

Nothing.

Cons

Terrible customer service. Once you sign the contract, they don't care about you anymore.

promises promises - undelivered

10/01/2017

They were able to present what appeared to be a fully functional and stable application. When we presented our needs in detail many times over, they agreed they could handle them in the end, they were unstable and unable to deliver. Pointing to the statement of work every time they denied their responsibilities, make sure your statement of work with them is a recreation of everything you need in the most minute and obvious detail or you will go for a similar very expensive ride.

Cons

They were unable to execute a working product to meet the agreements we had

Field tech perspective. Limited functionality very quirky.

04/10/2016

When we first implemented this program we discovered very quickly how limited this program is. Poor integration options. Not modeled to improve field performance in ways you might expect from typical service management software. Mostly just a fancy way to dispatch calls. You can only see 10 previous calls in the history. Syncing is disasterous and cumbersome. It takes a long time between functions to sync which can frustrate a busy facilities manager or store owner trying to get back to work. No internal integration. Information entered into one section of the system does not populate to other parts of the system where it would be helpful. This software is very frustrating to both field and office personnel. From a service tech perspective this program is a hinderance to customer response times and satisfaction.

Pros

It can be deleted.

Cons

It is nothing like presented.

Meh...I have moved on to another vendor

14/07/2016

Pros

This product is great for dispatch, but for invoicing it has flaws. I talked to them for help on invoicing and payments and they claimed that their product isn't made for that. But if you look on their website, they claim to have the best thing since sliced bread.

Cons

If you look on their website and talk to them, they will sell you the world. The invoicing is pathetic on this software. That's why I left.
