Small business

Reviewed 2 years ago

The support team is very responsive and it is cost effective, but I'm almost at a point with our virtual machine setup that I will need to look at other avenues.

Pros

I like that its cost effective for a single user, and its relatively easy to migrate into as a small company with not a whole lot of assets. I would like to have more users on the platform but financially the next tier of FAP does not make sense for the size of our company.

Cons

We are on virtual machines so I cannot download the software to one machine consistently so every time I go into FAP I have to put a different Reg code in and contact customer service. Everybody's always responsive but I have to work on FAP during business hours and it can put me in a bind when I'm wrapping up month end/qtr end financials. One of my bigger issues are the reports that come out. For some reason it will put some of my assets in different "locations" and I cannot access them all to get my reports in line properly.

Vendor response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We value your opinions and feedback. There may be a workaround for the issue where you need to re-register on your virtual machine. Please contact our Technical Support and they can give you a special registration code that handles a changing computer ID.

Fixed Asset Pro Review

Reviewed 2 years ago

I am on my 3rd version of the software and only use it to maintain depreciation schedules for my rental properties, but definitely see opportunities for more comprehensive usage.

Pros

The program has many features which I don't need to use , but I can see the value to a manufacturer, transportation type client to use for tracking and maintenance. For those type of clients the software is very inexpensive. For the casual user it is a bit more expensive.

Cons

I do have a problem viewing some input screens .

Vendor response

Thank you for writing a review. We appreciate your feedback. Fixed Asset Pro is adaptable for those that only need simple straight-line depreciation for one set of books, and can scale up to fit the needs of users with multiple books like GAAP, Federal Tax, AMT, State Tax, and more. As you've seen, there are also options that let you track assets by group, location, department, GL accounts, etc. These are all options that you can ignore if not using them.

Fixed Asset Pro Meets 100% of our Organization's Needs and the Needs of Our Auditors

Reviewed 2 years ago

Great experience. I believe we have used Fixed Asset Pro for about 5 years now and it completely meets our organization's needs. It is also cost effective. Our prior auditors recommended software that would cost 10 times as much annually, so Fixed Asset Pro is a great value.

Pros

The software is easy to customize for our organization. The software has all of the standard reports that we need to manage fixed assets during the year and also has all of the reports that our auditors request for the audit.

Cons

The software is great. I don't have anything to say about what I liked least about the software.

Vendor response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Your opinions and feedback are important to us. As you found out, Fixed Asset Pro does everything you need for a fraction of the price of other systems.

Great, especially for the price

Reviewed 2 years ago

We have almost 10,000 assets so we were worried because of the low price that this would not work well for us. When we loaded all of our assets in it was very slow. I reached out to [SENSITIVE CONTENT] who was quick to offer several solutions, which worked. Since then I have had no issues. I've used much more expensive softwares and this one is comparable for a fraction of the price.

Pros

This has made reporting much easier, especially year end tax reporting. It is also much easier to add and dispose of assets than it was in our previous system. [SENSITIVE CONTENT] was great to work with in implementing the program and was very helpful in answering questions. Their customer service was also very responsive when I reached out with questions.

Cons

Would prefer it to be cloud based, but have had no issues related to that.

Vendor response

Thank you for writing a review. We value an appreciate your opinions and feedback. We're happy to know that Fixed Asset Pro has made your reporting much easier. It' also good to hear that you had positive experiences with customer service and they helped improve performance after importing 10,000 assets. Fixed Asset Pro has no pre-set limits on the number of assets or the number of entities you can maintain.

Overall great depreciation software for our needs.

Pros

This product was one of the easier to use software's in the market and a good value for what we needed it for. We use it mainly for depreciation and book keeping and it's been great.

Cons

Sometimes there was glitches when clicking from one tab to another and the copy process can take some time.

Fixed Asset Pro is a reliable low-cost solution for tracking our client's fixed assets.

Pros

low-cost solution and easy to use for depreciation calculations.

Cons

Does not link directly with our Sage Intacct accounting system.

Vendor response

Thank you for writing a review. We value your opinions and feedback. Fixed Asset Pro does not have direct integrations with 3rd-party accounting systems, but it does create journal entries for depreciation, acquisitions, and disposals that you can save to CSV and import into accounting systems.

Fixed Asset Pro for Small Tax Practice

Reviewed 6 months ago

The support team was nice to deal with, but the functionality for a tax practice is not there compared to other options. I wish this would have worked better because the price point is great.

Pros

The program setup and company/client setup are easy. The customer support response is good. You can create and save custom views.

Cons

The report options are OK for a company, but not for a tax preparer. There is no option to have separate columns for additions and deletions, just a total change. There is no projection report for all assets, and no year-end close to prevent changes to a prior year. Adding assets can be cumbersome if you can't get the import function to work. The report builder is difficult to use and time consuming. You have to download a new version each year and transfer the companies and assets. This is no online platform option.

Vendor response

I'm sorry to hear you switched back to CCH as many of your concerns are already handled in Fixed Asset Pro. There are reports for asset acquisitions, disposals, a rollforward report that shows all activity, and a projection for all assets. The Report Builder is a legacy tool that we've kept for older users, but it is replaced by the Flex View Grid, which is vastly superior for creating custom reports....

Fixed Asset Pro used in Small Firm

Reviewed a year ago

We have used the product for several years and have grown to depend on it for asset management, monthly and year end deprecation reporting. We are a small firm with limited resources and a limited need for a product like fixed asset pro. It has filled every need we have had at a price point that works well with our firm. The customer/technical support have been outstanding, very responsive and accurate. So overall my opinion is this is a good product that meets our needs for fixed asset management and is administered and supported by a great staff.

Pros

The ease of data entry, calculation ability, and the reporting capabilities are key features for my implementation.

Cons

The export to excel has in the past has created some format issues for me. When viewing reports, I think it would be better if you could scroll through the pages.

Vendor response

Thanks for submitting a review. Easy of use, strong calculation capabilities and flexible reporting are all things we strive to achieve with Fixed Asset Pro. It's good to know you received outstanding service from our Technical Support.

Asset Pro User

Reviewed 2 years ago

Was a Sage user until the end of 2018. The cost was $3,000/yr for the renewal. Too expensive for our, somewhat, vanilla company to maintain asset records for two companies. I had used this software at another company and found it easy to use and 1/5th the price for the same results.

Pros

Easy to run this software each month for two companies and generate a monthly depreciation expense report and a Net Asset Value report to reconcile to my General Ledger accounts.

Cons

I think that the details on the type of depreciation method could provide better information. Most users are not as knowledgeable on depreciation methods as an IRS auditor. Of course, this is probably the trickiest part of any depreciation software.

Vendor response

Thank you for your review of Fixed Asset Pro. We appreciate and value your opinions. Many customers who switch from the higher-prices systems have similar comments.

Fixed asset pro

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall we love the product is is very easy to use and upload items as well as entering the items manually. We have over 5,000 capital records so it can handle the volume of data well.

Pros

We upload all of of capital assets into fixed asset pro. we used it to track all of our assets as well as capital expenditures. For the price which is very inexpensive it works just fine for my company. We also use it to track disposals of assets as well as book deprecation expenses on a monthly s well as annual basis. This report is also used for our personal property tax returns that we need to complete for the state

Cons

Sometimes when running the reports we get incorrect totals on the depreciation expense or on the net book value on the assets. I think it has to do with the database table needing to be reset.

Vendor response

Thank you for writing a review. We value your opinions and feedback. We're glad to hear that Fixed Asset Pro meets all of your needs. If you get incorrect totals, you probably just need to calculate to refresh the depreciation calculations.

Fixed Asset Pro is convenient and easy and extremely cost effective

Reviewed a year ago

For small companies this is an excellent software to get away from tracking assets on an excel sheet. Once setup the program will calculate your monthly depreciation in under 3 minutes. the reporting capabilities will aid in year end tax return preparation and any other reporting such as county Tangible Tax Reports. The price point will not break the bank.

Pros

Once you setup your assets in Fixed Asset Pro the maintenance of monthly depreciation for our company to calculate the monthly journal entries decreased from a few hours to just minutes. Reporting format can easily be exported to excel which is a huge plus for budget and forecasting calculations.

Cons

Would like to see better tools and options in creating your own reports.

Vendor response

Thank you for writing a review. We value your opinions and feedback. As and easier (and better) alternative to the Report Builder, try using the Flex View Grid in the Asset Listing tab. It includes a library of data views that you can customize or make your own data views with any fields in any order, include subtotals, etc. You can save these data views to Excel and CSV to make custom reports.

Inexpensive fixed asset tracking

Reviewed 2 years ago

In all, the system meets our needs and the customer service is excellent. We can forecast and budget, track construction projects and track all of our capital assets much easier than our previous method using spreadsheets.

Pros

Fixed Asset Pro is an expensive fixed asset tracking software that meets our needs and ensures that we are easily able to account for depreciation without the need for spreadsheets.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve and the system seems to be geared more for tax purposes. We are a non-profit and don't need all of the extra tax features.

Vendor response

Thank you for writing a review. We are happy to hear that Fixed Asset Pro is meeting your needs for fixed asset depreciation, management, tracking budgeting, and CIP. It's a complete solution that costs much less than some other systems and is far better than using spreadsheets. We are in the process of improving our training materials to help you learn Fixed Asset Pro as quickly as possible. Also, there is an easy way to turn off the Tax and other books if you don't need them. Our Tech Support can show you how to do this.

Great value!

This is the 2nd business I have implemented and used Fixed Asset Pro. One company was large and the other was smaller. It is very flexible and user friendly to setup and maintain. Great product at a great price!

Pros

Very user friendly and versatile to fit your business. Able to assign departments/locations to individual assets, attach photos and purchase invoices.

Cons

Almost too many options to work with when setting up for the first time.

Vendor response

Thank you for writing a review. We're glad to hear you like Fixed Asset Pro enough to use it at multiple different companies. When setting up for the first time, you can reduce the number of options and fields you see by using the Asset Quick Add form and hiding all the fields you are not using. Basic use for a great cost

Reviewed 2 years ago

If you are looking for a basic Asset management system and a low cost, this one fits the bill. We are using just to track assets and depreciation expense. We looked at systems that cost tens of thousands of dollars but wouldn't use most of it. This software works great for the basics. It probably does more than we use it for but guessing only 10% of business would need that.

Pros

Basic asset management and depreciation Many options for depreciation methods Future expense forecasting

Cons

Not overly intuitive. Would need some background on depreciation methods.

Easy to use. I feel that the software itself could be updated but for the price I am overall happy with the product.

Pros

The product is somewhat easy to use. I only need it for financial straight line depreciation

Cons

The one feature that I feel should be improved is the export to excel function. When it exports the columns need manual fixing. I use this to send to my auditors and have to spend time fixing presentation of the report. All of the numbers are accurate.

Vendor response

Good Product For The Money!

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

I've tried other fixed asset management solutions and this product has almost all of the functionality of the much more expensive solutions (like SAGE in particular). The depreciation reports do not show current year disposals whereas the net book value reports do but otherwise, a great product, especially for the price!

Cons

Depreciation reports need to show current disposals being back out of total cost and accumulated depreciation.

Vendor response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We value your feedback and suggestions. The depreciation reports include current year disposals because there can be partial-year depreciation on disposed assets in the year of disposal. One of the improvements we added this year is inclusion of depreciation on disposed assets in the Net Book Value Report. So you can use this NBV report to tie Cost, Accumulated Depreciation and Depreciation Expense to your GL.

Cost Effective Asset Management Software

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall, has helped us in our year end processes, asset valuation and assessment and planning. For a small cost, it pays for itself in saved time and labour. Recommend for anyone with a lot of depreciable assets.

Pros

Makes Asset Management much easier. We have a lot of assets in many different locations. We used to keep track of them on our excel spreadsheet, which was a nightmare for our accounting team. With Fixed Asset Pro, the information is in the system and the calculations are automatic. Saves our accounting team time and headache calculating and depreciating the assets. It also helps us as a management team to plan our capital asset expeditures in the coming months and years.

Cons

Quite an extensive setup process. Requires a lot of information that may not be readily available. Customer service could be a little more responsive.

Vendor response

Thank you for your review. Fixed Asset Pro is great for reporting by Location, Department, Category, GL Accounts, etc. It gives you a lot of control.
