A very positive experience with Maximo.

2017-12-19

One of the more complex CMMS systems on the market today.

Pros

It is deep in that you can drill down and be very specific as to the type of reports you can generate.

Cons

It requires a good deal of training for both data entry and to generate reports.

Maximo Enterprise Asset Management software

2016-11-09

Add-on modules with additional licensing costs and some level of customization are more than likely required to get meaningful functionality which drive up costs and the need to have experienced developers involved in start up.

Pros

The software is fairly robust, and can accommodate most facility management program needs.

Cons

The software is not very user friendly, partly because of the complexity and depth of possibilities when trouble shooting issues.

This system is to Expensive and Complex for unless your business is Maxim

2018-02-05

The system is for companies that have computer geeks not to maintenance people who are alawys getting budgets slashed.Keep it simple stupid most of the time it's a flashy front program and the real work is done with excel, word or Google products.

Pros

The name is short. It looks good it is web based the icons are bright the drop down menus help. The customer services is great as long as you pay the fees Not worth it other programs compete at a fraction of the cost.

Cons

To complex a system for most businesses you have to have a staff dedicated just for the system. 450 page manual that never gets read who has time. Companies use it for show no for work because it takes to long to learn it and if you have a problem with it your stuck.

Three years of use

2015-01-12

Pros

I was able to provide all my input data in simple Excel spreadsheets that they scrubbed and uploaded into the system, and it has been growing since.

Cons

With the way we have the system set up, we have 10 different locations. The only drawback is if we transfer an asset from one plant to another, the receiving plant can not see the asset history.

Set up a standard format for all of your equipment, parts, and so forth. For example, "MTR-DC" followed by the description of the part. When you have multiple locations or a large variety of DC motors, this make the searches easy to drill down to what voltage and size searches run very quickly this way. Look at all the items you want to enter in the system and allow room for expansion. Once you start using it, you will see how easy it is to add inspections, safety reviews, quality audits, and so forth.

Maximo User / Administrator for the past 20+ years, very flexible

2016-09-12

Pros

In addition to being a great asset / maintenance management package, it is also a developmental platform so it can be configured to solve many problems and replace in-house systems.

Cons

Look for ways to minimize the need for training. For instance, Maximo can be configured to hide tabs/sections of a screen based on conditions. This helps drive the user to the information they need to see/populate which improves the user experience.

Maximo in the Utility Space

2016-08-30

Our goal early on was to remove some atiquated software that was being used on an old platform. We made a decision to segregate the various business units and buy multiple copies. Given the chance to do this again, I would influence the decision makers to consider consolidation in order to leverage more of the power of the product. Integration at a later point is time consuming and expensive, hence, we should have looked further ahead.

Maximo expert started as a consultant and now at the client side

2016-08-30

Pros

Capable and has amazing industry verticals which set Maximo apart from all competitors. The addition of HSE manager was a great value and the recent Supply Chain functionalities enhancement were spot on. Overall, when it comes to having an out of the box product with deep industry understanding, Maximo is the way to go.

Cons

unless you really need a specific industry vertical, Maximo is one system which require million integrations. Hence, Maximo must ship with, not only the excellent MIF capability, but also with free integration adapters to major systems from Oracle and SAP.

1- Excellent industry verticals 2- Great flexibility but over-use it and it bytes back 3- Be ready to build and maintain a lot of integrations 4- Its not an ERP system, but do you really need an ERP system? 5- Make sure to contract a capable IBM business partner or hire experienced professional 6- Acquire deep understanding of the out of the box functionalities, it will greatly reduce the customization work that you may think you will need.

Administrator and End User

2016-09-02

Pros

IBM seeks to have the best CMMS product available and they have that and they continue to make it better all the time!

Cons

I think the licensing scheme is confusing and hard to understand. I think it's a road block to asset owner's looking for the best CMMS. I think the cost is prohibitive. I realize it's an expensive product to produce and maintain but I also believe it's severely overpriced. Requires asset owners to lean heavily on implementation partners who do not fully understand the product (as an end user) and as a result they are not able to help match the customer needs with the product ability.

Know all of your business practice's, process's, and workflows. Work out exactly what you want the product to do and how you want it to be done, before working with an implementation partner to accomplish it. Waiting until the implementation partner is onside is a recipe for disaster and getting a product that won't seem to meet your needs. Go to several Maximo User Group Meetings over a couple year period and see how others use and view the product. Spend time a lot of time developing how you want to use the CMMS and work out ahead of time what you want out of the CMMS. Haste with a CMMS implementation is waste and you will regret it!!! MAKE SURE TO ENGAGE ALL ALL ALL ALL ALL ALL STAKEHOLDERS FROM TOP MANAGEMENT TO THE LOWLIEST OF END USERS AND ENGAGE THEM EARLY IN THE PROCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maximo version 4 to version 7.5 in a single bound.

2015-01-12

Pros

Projetech made the switch between versions as seamless as possible with such a huge gap between with very little lost work time. They are always available to answer any questions or to talk me through learning something new.

Cons

Our version jump was so huge that the old and the new do not communicate well. The thing I like least about Projetech is that they are so far away. I'd like to be able to drop in and visit.
