Its great Modelling and simulation software for rapid prototyping and iterative projects

2020-10-01

Overall a great experience, I mainly use it for product renders and design mock-ups.

Pros

Fusion 360 has multiple avenues from modelling to rendering to CAM/3D printing simulation which is very helpful in not wasting time exporting it to 3D printing software and then modify the design.

Cons

The software seemed to not do a good job with respect to importing files of solidworks format and converting it over cloud.

Best CAD software

2021-03-25

It is great software if your design is simple, for complex designing you have to invest more time in it to become an expert.

Pros

It have great UI. It is full featured 3D modelling software can be accessed freely using student version. we can create machine code for 3d printing the designed model.

Cons

It run on cloud so you have to have an internet connection for using this. Learning can be difficult for the beginners. Beside these it is a great software for 3D modelling

My first real CAD and CAM experience

2020-09-30

I'm using this software with a non-profit license (free) and despite the recent announcement about the functionality cutout (from first October 2020) to 10 active projects, I think it will remain to be my option. The main advantage versus his main competitor (Sketchup) are the fabrication functions. For a maker with an interest in CNC and/or 3D printing, it can be the perfect software.

Pros

Extensive learning materials on Autodesk website (updated) and third-party authors.

Cons

You will need an additional GCode sender program if you are doing CNC milling. Some learning curve. Not as good cloud assets library as SketchUp.

Fusion 360

2018-12-20

I really enjoy Fusion 360, it has let me design projects that have helped further the design process in projects

Pros

It is fairly intuitive and easy to work with.

Cons

There are some lacking functions that would be nice to have, the workspace is hard to manipulate sometimes and I wish it had a slicer built in

Biomedical Engineering Projects

2021-03-02

Great if your design is more simple, or if you are an expert in this specific software, and you want to collaborate live with a team on a design.

Pros

Love the ability to work on one project/design live with a team.

Cons

Though this one is able to be collaborated on live with multiple team members, the design features seem mixed up and sometimes limited.

A (Surprisingly) Nice Alternative for CAD/CAM

2021-04-21

As I said previously the team had the idea that we were going to need additional software to design and produce all our prototypes (considering the special needs of our CNC machines), but we ended up adopting Fusion completely for the whole design process.

Pros

Fusion has actually surprised us for good with its capabilities, since at first glance we thought we were going to need additional software to design and mechanize prototypes, but we ended up adopting Fusion completely even for using it directly with our dated CNC machines.

Cons

But I would totally like to see more customizable keyboard shortcuts and interface parts.

Fusion 360 is a more Modern and Friendly Solidworks

2020-02-24

I enjoy using Fusion 360 for design, the interface and modern design make it pleasant to use.

Pros

The interface is very up to date and easy to get used to.

Cons

It feels like some of the more intense and powerful tools are missing (like structural analysis and finite element modeling), which is likely more a result of the kind of product they are trying to release than slacking on the part of the developers.

2019-08-02

With a little patience and the help of the huge online community and tutorials, I can design, test and prepare for production (cnc milling or 3d printing) any part or assembly of parts with precision and confidence.

Pros

The integrated workflow that covers all the steps in product development, from prototyping to final production, is very powerful.

Cons

It is very feature rich and powerful, which means it is complex and has a long learning curve

Fusion 360 makes modeling easy

2020-04-02

Overall, it is worth the price of admission and is a great package to have with features that far out weigh the competition.

Pros

I was able to jump in and begin almost immediately. Exporting is easy and there are a lot of people using this software if you need an existing model to add to your library.

Cons

Some functionality changes and when you are in the middle of a project and your workflow changes, it is a little annoying.

2021-03-31

3D modeling in Fusion 360 is a wonderful experience as I have designed products ranging from medical equipment to automotive technology to household tools and even industrial machine parts with ease.

Pros

Finally and obviously, you can easily get access to your design files from anywhere and at anytime you want it as Fusion saves them on the cloud.

Cons

Of course, Fusion 360 is cloud based and may consume internet data while it is running in "working online" mode.

The best CAD tool for hobbyists and anyone who wants to make something

2019-08-06

I've used it to design robot parts, program machine toolpaths, and modify CAD designs from free libraries for fun.

Pros

Fusion 360 set out to be the best integrated CAD and design software, and it certainly has achieved a lot of its goals.

Cons

Because Fusion 360 is constantly being updated and new developments are being added regularly, sometimes you will open it up after a few weeks without using it and the interface will be different.

The most comprehensive software you can get for free

2019-12-31

Fusion 360 has one of the best and most responsive teams of developers and product designers who actually listen to what people report and ask for on forums and implement those features constantly.

Pros

It has all the features to satisfy you as a beginning or reasonably skilled maker - someone in mechanical engineering or digital manufacturing.

Cons

It's now gotten more difficult to apply for a startup licence to be able to use the software for free for commercial purposes, but I still think it's worth it.

Great CAD/ CAM tool with great features (Free for students)

2019-08-29

We use this tool for the enclosure design for our PCBs.

Pros

We use fusion 360 for rapid prototyping of our circuit enclosures. We design the enclosures and print them using the 3D printer.

Cons

Anyway if user has previous experience in CAD/CAM modelling using fusion 360 will be very easier. Otherwise, it will take some time to get familiar.

Great Designs Require a Reliable Software

2018-12-14

Of course, true testing requires real-world application; however, Fusion 360 has been fairly accurate with its simulated statistics. Ever since high-school, my team and I discovered Fusion 360 and used it for our design testings to which we 3D-printed and used for our Toyota-sponsored hydrogen car.

Pros

I also find it particular helpful that you can do design tests such as putting it through a wind-funnel and seeing the air resistance as well as the designs performance in general.

Cons

Although I use this software quite often, I have to say it did take me a little time to figure out what each option did and how to become more fluent with my use of Fusion 360. Thereby, Fusion 360 is not for those that aren't willing to put in the effort and passion in running designs. It takes quite a bit of patience to understand the functionalities overall.

Fusion 360 review

2018-12-20

I've used fusion 360 to quickly model up basic parts and develop physical rapid prototypes on CNC mills.

Pros

No other CAD engine I've worked with has a built in CAD to CAM function that works so well, so it is very easy to make a model in the software and then have it made on a CNC mill very quickly.

Cons

However, I think the UI is generally clunky and unintuitive.

An Excellent Tool for Designing 3d Prints and CAD Prototypes

2018-12-30

In the context of Fusion being a tool for novices, it is an excellent tool to start designing in to learn the ins and outs of CAD and 3D modeling.

Pros

For unsupported printers, Fusion can also export 3d printable formats such as .STL files for the printer to use.

Cons

This means that some of the more complex parametric modeling tools and functions are missing from Fusion, making it unsuitable for more serious CAD design. While the interface is clean, many functions are often hidden behind too many mouse clicks that can make the program hard to navigate at times. this can be particularly confusing for those unaccustomed to 3D modeling or CAD software.
