The new inventory management could have been a great feature.

Cons

The retail version has less features than the free version. Inventory can only be uploaded and can not be entered manually.

streamlined search of product

Pros

The clean display as items are rung up, the favorites aren't on the front screen, and being able to search everything from the front landing page

Cons

No pictures show on products, Item and Inventory Management being different pages on the back end (needs consolidating), and lack of gift card options

Love Square! I've been using it a year and am very happy with everything!

Pros

I love the integration with Big Commerce so I can easily sell online and in store with inventory syncs immediately.

Cons

In my mind it would include, physical inventory counts using scanners for tons of inventory -preferable to have multiple people doing different parts of the store at the same time.

the software can easily customized and tailored to your specific needs, simple easy to use screen makes transactions simple.

Cons

Reporting can be limited at times but easily overlooked due to the great build quality of the software. if you need very detailed reports then this may not suit your needs.

SOMETIMES IT FREEZES WHEN WE DO NOT WANT IT TO. WE HAVE TO REBOOT AND THE SYSTEM IS FINE. THIS HAS ONLY OCCURED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND HAS NOT OCCURED ANY MORE

Pros

Reports are easy to run and can get most data that you need.

Cons

Wish there was a way to take a deposit for future orders (placed online or on the phone) so the sales are applied to the date they are picked not the day we take the payment. For advance orders, available pick up times are based on your hours of operations. Wish we could limit that depending on what is being ordered.

Too many glitches in the system.

- Streamlined use - Lower level product variation searches

Pros

- Inventory accounting - lower level search function - streamlined look - ease of use at POS - clear screens

Cons

- Problems with the system tracking inventory properly - Looses saved items entered - Doesn't tell you if you have duplicate skew - Should not have to press CHARGE on the screen prior to inserting credit card - No ability to save tickets (If this is not fixed soon we will have to drop this version of software because we can't use this at the holidays) - Need images for each item on POS - Assigns random skews to items with large amounts of variations (happens when we do a bulk download)

Easy to use.

Pros

Ability to pull up current sales is just seconds behind the transactions at the retail location! Very impressive!

Cons

The steps that are showing up at the top of my feed for Square retail. Mobile app is par, much better to use desktop version. iPad and iPhone software make some features inaccessible.

I like that it is easy to link a square account across multiple devices and access the sales and transactions simultaneously.

Cons

The only thing I would like to see is a tracking feature for when you misplace the square reader!

Phenomenal service

Pros

The card reader faces the customer and allows for tipping and receipt management. After swiping my own card, I have control over what I do next and all of it is in a very readable and clear font.

Cons

The swiveling of the tablet was a bit awkward but thats about the only thing that put me off from this product.

We run a small at home business and Square is the best tool for point of sale transactions and easy to produce receipts, invoices, and track user/buyer details.

Cons

It is very simple (intentionally) so some more complex operations may required additional software (i.e. complex sales, or invoices where there is more details then simply basic transactions).

Pros

We have a non-profit that we use this for community events and are able to easily charge and send receipts to buyers. Reporting is great too from a board standpoint

Cons

Just wish the percentage taken wasn't so high. As a non-profit we would love to negotiate our rates or have a different fee.

I like the fact that square is convenient, mobile and a easy to use mobile card reader system also it have other great features to help you run a effective business.

Cons

Ever though I like Square, I will not personally use it again to make a purchase because square allows your card information to be saved to the sellers mobile device.

It has an offline mode for when service is spotty or slow, and tracks finances allowing for easy transfer of data to my book keeping.

Cons

2-4% fees can be steep, but it not much worse than other large reliable systems. The device I use has a 3.5mm jack that has broken in my phone, but the newer models are less fragile from what I've been told.

The hardware is easy to set up the software is so easy and convenient and it works like a charm every time. No hangups no glitches no problems.

Cons

I have no conscience whatsoever. My only advice would be to make sure that your business is making more than the monthly fee or else I would recommend not going with square retail and just going with square up. Otherwise it's awesome.
