Following a career as an IT manager, and having obtained a Masters specialisation in Geographic Information Systems, I decided to join the Archbishop's Seminary in Malta to be formed into the Catholic Priesthood. I am in my third year of formation, reading my final year of BA Theology Hons. As part of our priestly formation, we are asked to follow a gap year in order to further discern our vocation. Since next year is the aforementioned gap year, I am drafting a plan for the fourth year (June 2015 - July 2016). My availability is from August 2015 till the February 2016. Following this period I plan on doing missionary work in Peru for 6 months.
My Masters thesis tackled Geospatial studies, with regards to Location Based Services. My thesis studied the improvements of existing routing algorithms. I am also graduated from the University of Malta in BSc. Business & Computing. I have also extensive experience in web environments, with more than five years of experience in developing in PHP.
I was working at Newgrove Ltd (UK) before joining the Seminary. Before leaving to the UK, I was working at the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Malta as the Supervising Monitoring Officer. My responsibilities included monitoring the operation of all the licensees which fall under the Maltese Jurisdiction. I was also heavily involved in a GIS project within the authority, whereby I developed a software to check for distance from points and upon such results a I have also extensive Managerial experience at EF, where I was also promoted as a Centre Manager in the head office in London.
I have also extensive experience in working environments, having worked in a number of different jobs throughout my professional career before deciding to pursuit the priesthood call. My motto is: invest today - help tomorrow. It is in this motto that I am planning my gap year: collecting as much as different experiences in order to be able to be a sign of hope for others tomorrow.
