Take A Trip From Basecamp

2019-02-03

Pros

This software does make its best effort to provide a solution for every possible need-case via their proprietary software.

Cons

Instead of letting me use my google drive or social media viewer, this crm insists on using its own proprietary software.

Helpful for sharing across teams.

2018-10-26

Useful tool but not as easy to use as Google Drive. Better for sharing across teams/businesses.

Pros

Its also a more secure place for storing docs than Google Drive, though Google drive is easier to use.

Cons

Needs a bit of an update - constant updates would make it stay with the times better.

Best For Project Management

2019-02-19

Pros

I love it because it has all of my assignments with deadlines included. I can also upload documents and notify my client when an assignment is completed.

Cons

No option to upload via Google Drive. Sometimes I use Google Drive when I don't have my laptop with me and have to work in Google.

Basecamp review

2018-10-19

Great project management software that is easy to use and familiar, if you also use Google Drive and Dropbox.

Pros

It’s kind of like a secure Google Drive where you can keep all your documents in one place and collaborate with multiple users on projects.

Cons

I haven’t had any problems with this software, so far.

Not a great fit for me

2019-02-15

I am not a huge fan, as I can accomplish just as much using Google Drive as a workaround.

Pros

I liked some of the collaborative perks - team communications was somewhat simple.

Cons

The price was too high, and it wasn't simple to explain to other team members...it also didn't do as much as I expected.

basecamp for project management

2018-12-18

Very positive experience using Basecamp to manage projects and teams. I continue to use it on new projects and look forward to new features.

Pros

Basecamp offers a simple interface that is accessible anywhere and helped reduce the number of emails sent and received. I love the task assignment process with the ability to set a due date for a each task. The commenting on each post was easy to read and index as well. The group chat feature is nice too.

Cons

I wish there was smoother integration with google drive and google calendar.

Keeps you on-track!

2018-12-05

I used Basecamp for about two years and it really helped me keep in touch with my client and keep all the files for the project in one place. I only stopped using it because the project ended and I didnt need to access that clients info anymore.

Pros

It's easy to use and is simple to intergrate with Google Drive and Gmail.

Cons

It is a little slow to load and the mobile app misses a few key functions that the desktop version offers.

Cobbling Your Way to Project Management

2017-01-25

Flexible with a selection of plug-in services. Quick to start using. Handles visual assets well. If your team needs to create a patchwork project management tool using a very specific list of apps and services, Basecamp could be a good fit.

Pros

Flexible with a selection of plug-in services. Quick to start using. Handles visual assets well.

Cons

Some third-party apps (Google Drive, Dropbox) require additional services to connect.

The software is amazing. You can keep track of the project in a timely manner.

2017-11-15

Pros

You can update clients in a timely manner about the project status. All conversations are intact in the software. You can activate and deactivate specific projects depending on the needs. Conversations are intact even deactivating the project.

Cons

I cannot migrate items from google drive to basecamp like pictures and videos.

Very nice and simple project management and collaboration tool

2018-04-19

I was able to work remotely on different projects with different people easily and affordably (free!)

Pros

The Google Drive integration is nice.

Cons

It's not superadvanced, but it doesn't try to be. It becomes limited if you pretend to use it for time tracking, dependencies, etc. But, again, it has a different target audience.

Basecamp is a great way to view and share it all

2015-11-03

Our company has been using BaseCamp for years and we love it. It's a great way to collaborate, share files, and have little tidbits of information of your co-workers from their profiles and pictures.

Pros

Simple way to access lots of files and collaborate with co-workers who either work remote or from home.

Cons

I feel like there's space for it to be redesigned, look a bit cleaner and sharper as Google Drive does.

Basecamp is a solid tool for teams. Easy to manage projects, unique pricing, and strong on mobile.

2017-11-09

Our best value for the product was the project management portion of the tool specifically.

Pros

Like their pricing model (currently $99 for team) with unlimited projects and seats. Also can prove challenging for smaller companies compared to Slack.

Cons

As easy as it might sound, it's hard transitioning everything (email, project management, calendar, google drive, etc.) into one single platform.

Basecamp is just ok

2018-09-06

I found it really difficult to figure out and honestly I'm not entirely sure what benefit there would be to using Basecamp vs google drive or dropbox.

Pros

Pro would be that I was able to download all the files I needed

Cons

It was really difficult to figure out and navigate - I would have preferred using a google drive folder or something like that.

Basecamp is fine if everyone's using it effectively.

2018-03-28

At first, it was a great repository for files and content needed for a particular project, but with Google Drive, the need for it has been erased almost entirely.

Pros

Currently using Basecamp to integrate with Tick for payroll. This is clunky at best, and often takes more than a few tries to get the two to sync up.

Cons

It's not very intuitive, which makes it difficult to use it effectively and if the rest of the team are on Drive instead, the file storage is pointless.

2018-05-14

Pros

It was nice having everything in one place. Simply and charming interface. Cool to see when someone submits notes on a project, etc.

Cons

Great and Simple Product for Managing small focused projects/To-Do's

2018-05-31

Pros

It's focused To-Do section. Great for keeping you on track and linking to projects. I also love the ability to add certain people to pertinent projects. It's like Slack but for projects.

Cons

Not being able to link out to things other than google drive. Made things annoying to have to switch between sheets and basecamp.

Great Cloud storage and Collaboration Tool

2019-01-08

Sharing large files with others directly and uploading links to other products (Basecamp/Jira, etc.)

Pros

Ease of use. Google Drive can backup any folder on your PC to easily access on your mobile (or other) device. Similarly, sharing with other users is easy and intuitive.

Cons

Security. I don't see any options for encrypted folders and or sharing. This would be useful for sensitive documents and the competition has these features.

Google Drive is my favorite for storing files

2018-09-06

Google Drive is the most efficient implementation of cloud storage and sharing

2017-12-07

Drive is an effective way to store all data securely. The Google Drive cloud is where we keep a lot of our day-to-day operations and basic data. This has allowed us to easily share and collaborate on various pieces of content for our marketing team, or even documentation for some of our engineering projects.

Pros

We often store something on Drive and then link it externally to Basecamp or other applications.

Cons

The interface is a little clunky at times. This is true of most Google applications but once you've used one or two, you quickly learn to navigate the applications.

Drive has fully changed the way we create, share and revise documents.

2018-03-08

Super enhanced collaboration across my agency as well as across clients and improved file organization with a super customizable file structure.

Pros

I also love that Drive integrates so seamlessly with basically every other software I'm using- Basecamp, Hubspot, Asana etc.

Cons

The WORST thing ever about drive is that I can't search or sort files by the person who owns the files or by the person who shared the file with me. I can't figure out why that's not an included feature, but I can confidently say that if it was, my collective team could have saved dozens of hours spent searching for files over the last several years.
