website development project

2018-11-20

used as a project management tool for a new website launch. It was very easy to use and learn

Pros

like sharepoint but better.

Cons

the timeline got a little messy as the project went on and as a PM I missed my Gannt charting to see project constraints. It would be a great addition to traditional project management tools

Good system to keep external team members in contact

2018-09-10

Very practical tool for team members that are not in the same organization but do not need something as big as SharePoint.

Pros

Having almost everything related to a project at a single place and available everywhere for all members of the team.

Cons

Hard to figure what are all the possibilities at the beginning.

Functional

2018-11-12

Pros

It's very easy to use and learn. Its extremely functional for big groups to remain organized.

Cons

There are certain capabilities that i wish were added (i.e. allow multiple people to work on an uploaded doc at the same time, similar to Sharepoint)

Basecamp tools work well, but the variety of tools is lacking compared to other collaboration suites

2018-03-13

Pros

The quality of the software is exceptional. The features that are there work well, the UX is thought out and the product is polished overall.

Cons

Compared to collaboration suites such as SharePoint or Confluence, Basecamp comes up short many times.

Basecamp is a good to tool to manage task with external parties

2019-02-08

I managed to implement an eInvoicing solution in our company and our vendor proposed to use that tool to share information, tasks, to-dos, files. It is really an easy to use software, you can easily address tasks to resources, follow-up the todos, organize events related to a project. You can also use it for multiple project - we did not use it for that purpose.

Pros

Easy to use cloud software not needed any training and installation. We used it to keep track on a project with a software vendor. For us - as a customer it has no extra cost.

Cons

Since it is not our company standard it was an additional tool in the project (according to our PMO governance we should also use e.g Sharepoint for internal communication)

Huge Graphical Upgrade Over Sharepoint Plus App-like Ease of Use

2017-12-06

Managing projects is easier visually and doesn't hurt my eyes like Sharepoint's clunky UI

Pros

Coming from dinosaur like Sharepoint, Base Camp is way more colorful and pleasing to look at, which sounds weird for an enterprise use case but when you're spending time very day to manage projects in Sharepoint, having something nice to look at while doing essentially the same functionality helps a LOT.

Good for what it is

2018-12-14

Sharepoint sites are cumbersome and not ideal for a national committee of busy professionals; not sharing the same employer.

Pros

It QUICKLY gave our team and committee a centralized place to collaborate on projects, house shared documents, and interact semi-socially with each other. Small details like Boosts and including emoticons allows for a less formal communication when appropriate, further encouraging interaction by team members.

Cons

NOT a good solution for a large teams, or anyone on many teams. The interface is incredibly hierarchical and gets confusing and murky to navigate when the groups are large and the volume of content buries what you're looking for. The search function is dated and the email alerts are not very functional - other than to alert you to go into Basecamp because there is new content posted.

A great way to manage projects, especially with remote teams.

2018-07-06

Pros

A very easy to use project management tool that is available as a web application, desktop app, and also as a phone app for iOS and Android. Love the user interface and simplicity. Powerful features that give some more expensive applications out there a run for their money.

Cons

We had a hard time trying to integrate it with SharePoint and so decided to go with another tool.

Good project management - lacking integrations - but not a dealbreaker

2018-01-10

A saw better team building, better organization, better PM - a positive move towards PM as a whole.

Pros

The integration with Google Drive is convenient if you are already a customer - otherwise it can be challenging with other solutions like OneDrive and SharePoint. The reminders and milestones are easy enough to track.

Cons

Lacking any real PM conventions like waterfall, kanban, or agile - this is better suited for marketing/design firms - anything without too complex a process.

Basecamp review

2018-10-17

Enjoyed utilising while i used it, but now it seems very cluttered and its "all in one" nature seems not to have evolved since i last used it

Pros

was innovative and exciting. easy to use, trend setting and had all the sharing capabilities and functionalities - being one of the first of its kind

Cons

One of the first work/task sharing platforms i used in the early days, but with the advent of sharepoint, asana, trello and other work sharing platforms - its seems basecamp has lost its edge.

Ease of use

2019-02-21

We used this for rapid communication and organization for a project team all working remotely.

Pros

I have used Sharepoint in the past for collaboration, and I know that this is not necessarily apples to apples, but if you need to bring a team together to quickly be on the same page this is a wonderful tool.

Cons

I hope they add additional features and a tad more organization to the documents section.

Basecamp is a must for project-driven companies

2018-11-16

I have used Basecamp to manage client and personnel communication on several projects with multiple stakeholders.

Pros

I love a lot of the features utilized by Basecamp. Consolidating project communication outside of email is an excellent way to eliminate the risk associated with staff turnover because anyone new to the project can read up through the discussion and catch themselves up. Also, who wants more email? The forum discusson format allows for more robust communication.

Cons

A lot of the functionality can be replicated or completely replaced with Google Sites or MicroSoft Teams or Sharepoint, but the expeirence using BaseCamp is far more curated and user-friendly.

A basis for team interaction the way it should be

2016-12-06

When you start digging into it, there can be a tad of redundancy as there is a file storage area for projects when you may be using SharePoint, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.

Pros

Accountability tracking, task tracking, UI

Cons

Lack of integrations with other file storage hubs

Sharepoint is valuable just like all of Microsoft's products

2018-07-25

Pros

I like that is is connected to all Microsoft Office products. Makes sharing items with your coworkers and employees simple. Everything is in one spot.

Cons

I have used Sharefile and Basecamp for sharing files in the past so Sharepoint just took time to get used to because it is so different than other filing software I have used.
