You cannot be Agile without JIRA

2018-07-25

Being able to keep track of tasks and "getting things done!" :)

Pros

This software has everything you need for Agile software development and more! In my previous company, we have been using JIRA to task Day-to-Day Management, Handling Processed and Streamlining Changes. I'm sure there was a way to work without JIRA before that, but after using it for 3 months, we could not imagine our life without it. At one point we literally sat in a meeting and asked: "how did we ever get things done without JIRA?"

Cons

Learning how to properly configure it for your needs can be daunting, but thanks to their knowledge base (built on Atlassian Confluence) you have every material you need at your hands.

Took a While But Eventually Saw Benefits

2019-01-09

Overall it has seved us well for requirements management for Agile projects. We have leveraged the integration with the rest of the Atlassian suite (Confluence, HipChat)

Pros

It serves an IT organization well when working on an Agile project. The ability to align stories with epics, epics to features and features to capabilities.

Cons

The limitations around free form text entry. Bullet and number showing up as hashtags and asterisk when constructing content.

Platform for collecting useful information

2019-01-20

Pros

Integration with JIRA software is available.

Cons

The Confluence system does not have the function of evaluating articles and viewing statistics on material views. You also can not customize the look of your personal account. There is no chat for communication with other users of the platform.

Excellent tool kit

2018-10-11

Pros

You can work with Jira Software and other management systems.

Cons

What is missing is one simple, but very necessary function for us: to make notes next to the page, and not to add an entry to it. As far as I know, the developers are planning to do this. So far, we are waiting.

It is an especially useful tool to share information between work teams

2018-06-17

Pros

Each management involved in a project is able to collaborate in the creation of reports, documents, etc. and share relevant information, facilitating the flow of information efficiently. The biggest advantage it has is the integration with Jira software and the possibility of managing the performance of each of the team members by monitoring the activities that each one is doing in their work station.

Cons

The main disadvantage that I have faced with the use of Confluence, is that being a highly collaborative tool, in which all the work team can contribute and share documents, information, etc., sometimes confusion and information crossings can be generated, if you do not take special care with shared content.

Confluence is easily best in bread

2018-06-15

Way too many to list here but in short, combining Confluence with Jira makes for an incredible dynamic duo.

Pros

1) Ease of use 2) Provides a fully integrated with Jira Core/Software/Service Desk tool for team collaboration, status reporting, Knowledge Base(s), etc.

Cons

1) Not a fan of the Atlassian Custom Support model. You can get answers in a timely fashion but you cannot normally call and get a technician on the phone.

Not the best Knowledge Base system

2018-10-23

If confluence didn't integrate so well with the other Atlassian products, i wouldn't recommend it at all. But it does do the job.

Pros

Confluence is great because it integrates with the entire Jira/Atlassian software suite. For instance, using Jira Service Desk, users can start typing in the problem they are having in the service desk portal and Jira will start to populate KB articles that have been created. This will help users resolve their own issues without having to contact IT Help Desk. This in turn helps improve productivity.

Cons

Confluence is not very feature rich and is not customizable at all. Performing simple task as bullets or numbering is a nightmare.

Confluence for Team collaboration

2018-10-15

My overall business experience is great. Earlier team was sharing project content via emails that is a clumsy way to mamage and store the information, but as more and more people are using confluence it has become a repository and one stop shop to put knowledge at one palce which can be referred as and when needed. This is a great tool and a game changer for how we manage our collaboration within team for the project under Agile way

Pros

The best part about this software is the close integration with JIRA software. This is in real competition with Sharepoint as far as my understanding goes and I am an admin user for multiple scrum teams in my organization.

Cons

At an enterprise level, there are few web designing that is required to be done so that content that is already there can be structured in a much more web design format like links to confluence pages to be embedded in an image. That option is available but to central Admin and not to the page admin that makes confluence little crunched to admin users within a project. But this negative point is a very small piece in comparison to positives with this application.
