Jira- Jack of All Trades!!!

We replaced separate online tools like Sharepoint and Timesheets with single Jira tool

Pros

Jira is a all in one solution for most if not all of your project needs - Its a Project status dashboard, Document repository,Estimation & Effort Tracking tool and Offline Comm tool rolled into one. I love when we have everything in one place which makes it easier for the PM's to conduct their tasks.

The non availability of a native chat tool

good, value for money, must for agile, second to only vsts in its category, easy to use.

Pros

How it makes so easy to manage project lifecycle, tracking defects, maintaining all the version history and comment history in the defects and modules makes it very manageable. Specially good in agile where everything is fast paced with less time for scrum master to manage things

Cons

It doesn't connect as well with outlook and sharepoint like vsts can

A great workflow management tool that is both internal / external facing

A workflow tool that gives visibility into a project for consultant and customer alike. Allows the PM to track and direct work that needs to be done.

Pros

The tool gives customers and internal employees on a consulting project the visibility into the issues and progress. During initial implementation the consulting group loads and tracks progress into any mods and configuration. During testing the customer can list issues / defects / changes and prioritize them. Post-go live the customer can use as a support tool or for mod requests. Total visibility is given for tracking progress and you also have the ability to hide comments if necessary from external view.

Cons

Some of the configuration is limited (cannot just add fields like in Sharepoint), but that is sometimes a pro as it works better as a flow tool.

Pros

The interface is intuitive and simple which makes collaboration between our team effective. It gives instant notifications on topics and issues that I am interested with, and I am able to attach important documents, share ideas and communicate.

Cons

Would be nice if they can make integration with Zendesk and Sharepoint easier.

The best game in town

I've enabled numerous clients to do work sprints on their own once the contract has ended. It's a fantastic, somewhat pricy, tool that has become a defacto standard in software development and everyone interested in SDLC should learn Agile and try JIRA!

Pros

Screens update quickly and without annoying refreshes (like SharePoint or Team Foundation Server (TFS)).

Cons

Security group maintenance has been a very confusing element in the past. I would hope they've improved that in the latest update. Also, periodically we've seen performance slow downs, but they are typically short and measured in minutes or just over an hour.

JIRA a great tracking tool

Earlier we were using sharepoint and it was bit clumsy to update the status there.

Pros

We have started using JIRA for our project tracking since last year. It is a great tool to track the project status as it moves through various stages. The dashboard feature helps get birds eye view of the projects.

Cons

The only hiccup I faced was asking separate access request for the sister application - Confluence to use it as knowledge sharing medium. It would be great if the access is bundled together.

Good features let down by a difficult hard to use UX

Integrates well with other tools including slack and visual studio online

Pros

Confluence is included which is a Sharepoint equivalent.

Cons

Confluence often feels like a poor persons version of sharepoint (which is not a recommendation) as it feels clunky creating pages, sections or defining navigation.
