I highly recommend Jira for a bug tracking tool and especially for Agile software teams. For us it has really made a difference in terms of: team collaboration, Agile methodology adoption, decreased time to market of new projects/new features and on the overall teams' spirit. We have seen a wide adoption for the other departments as well, non software development.
We used several bug tracking tools in the past but Jira is by far the best one. What I like most: - user friendly interface, provides a nice user experience - Agile SCRUM/Kanban support out of the box - extremely configurable on almost everything - extendable through custom scripting, either built-in or via addons - very collaborative - there are thousands of addons in the marketplace; you can even write your own
Being so flexible to be configured, the learning curve for admins is a little steep. The price is based on the number of users and if you experience wide user adoption in a big company, you end up in paying more for upgrading to the next tier, than if you would pay for that tier first time.

JIRA is a best software testing tool that provides users with an integrated platform for managing and tracking various types of testing activities. It helps testers to easily create and manage test cases, track development progress, monitor defect resolution activity and assess the quality of their products by providing comprehensive metrics on the status of tests. The main features offered by JIRA...
JIRA is an incredibly powerful software testing tool that has helped my team to drastically improve the quality of our products. The application makes it easy for us to track, prioritize and manage all our test cases in one place. We especially like how JIRA allows us to monitor progress and collaborate with remote teams on complex tasks. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly so we can use it...
Task assignment notifications keep people informed when something needs attention as well as send reminders when actions are overdue – ensuring that no detail gets overlooked during complex tasks or long term initiatives. Real-time collaboration tools let remote employees stay connected wherever they may be working from while centralized data storage keeps everyone updated on changes or updates without having to resend information constantly throughout the process

This tool is fine for operational tasks and managing workloads, but not the right tool with project management or cross team collaboration
Very easy for execution team to see tasks and work through assigned tasks. A good tool to list individual tasks to work on
It is very hard to manage projects within Jira. Ticketing can get complex and it is not easy to see all the tasks associated with a project.

Jira helps in maintaining our Scrum, Kanban and Devops culture. Its burndown charts, reporting, ease of all the roles working from product owner to dev all can be on on platform and in sync. Backlog can be easily managed and working hours are easily logged on same.
Its interface which gives a better look for team, whether defects are resolved or we can implement shift left strategy with charts provided. Sprints are easily executed from start to end and also Kanban is implemented with push and pull. SAFE can easily be implemented using this tool. It has good work log management and assigning task, where you can create sub task. Epic, theme, Task, SubTask Milestone can be created and tracked easily.
Documentation part is only maintained when everyone follows standard method of maintaining updated comments, in Sprints the scrum master has to remind for comments always. Chat History can not be added to the Jira, its only through conversation things can be tracked. Naming conventions like tagging is not shown for issue or defect to find and link to past issues

As software engineers we rely on effective project management tools, Jira has revolutionized our daily workflows. Jira has proven to be a powerful project management tool for software engineers. Its versatile features and seamless integration have significantly improved my productivity and collaboration with development teams. Its agile support, issue-tracking capabilities, intuitive interface, and extensive integrations make it an invaluable asset. However, potential challenges such as configuration complexity, learning curve, pricing, and performance concerns should be considered when implementing Jira in an organization. This is an unbiased analysis of Jira, based on my firsthand experience.
It empowers teams to deliver iterative results, adapt to changes, and enhance collaboration. Jira's robust Agile features, including Kanban and Scrum boards, facilitate efficient task tracking, backlog management, and sprint planning. Jira seamlessly integrates with popular development tools like Bitbucket and GitHub. This integration ensures smooth collaboration, and traceability between code repositories...
Setting up workflows, permissions, and project structures in Jira can be complex, especially for large-scale projects. Jira's extensive feature set may present a steep learning curve for newcomers. As a fresher, I was struggling when I was using it initially. Handling multiple concurrent users in Jira may occasionally impact performance. Depending on the organization's size and requirements, Jira's licensing costs can be significant. For small companies and startups licensing/monthly subscription may be required and pricing might not be affordable for them.

The quality of reporting and the variety of reporting available for all Jira managed project from my experience, is what sets Jira apart from substitute project management suites that I have encountered and what I like best about it. Out of the box, Jira comes with more than twelve different types of report types, which includes Burndown charts, sprint reports, velocity charts, cumulative flow diagrams etc thereby simplifying access to real time insights into my teams performances.
Jira has very limited collaboration tools, infact it offers no real time messaging tool out of the box. Also, its user interface is not very friendly and this tend to create a slow learning curve for non-technical users in my department.

Iterative planning and change: JIRA’s agile boards and iterative approach support ongoing planning and process change. Teams can continually monitor project progress, reprioritize tasks, and adjust schedules as needed. This iterative process allows greater flexibility in accepting changes, and ensures that the project plan remains realistic and feasible
JIRA can be difficult to understand, especially for users who are new to the platform or don’t have much experience with project management software. Its extensive features and methodologies may require a learning curve for some users to better understand and use

Overall, my experience with Jira has been positive, as it provided a powerful and customizable platform for project management, issue tracking, and team collaboration, despite the initial learning curve and occasional complexity that comes with its extensive features and configurations.
Jira offers robust project tracking, task management, and collaboration capabilities, making it a valuable tool for teams to streamline their workflows and improve productivity.
The complexity and learning curve of Jira's interface and configuration options can be overwhelming for new users.

We are overall very satisfied with the product as the user side of the things are very solid. The administration is quite complex and if you are doing it on your own, it will take a long time and a lot of hours reading their forums to get things right.
The task tracking and overall reporting are pretty solid. If configured properly, you will not miss on any updates and can proactively resolve blockers.
The configuration. They are very complicated and you cannot expect a new user to get it right and that's why there are dedicate people who set up this. We did it on our own and it took us a couple of months to get things right.

Collaboration of our team has improved after we started using Jira, the tools helps in planning and identifying gaps while we develop features. The mobile application is really good and one can get work done from mobile app as well. Overall Jira suites our needs.
Jira is very flexible and can be used for different use cases, eg: project management, issue tracker, road maps etc. It is quite easy to configure compared to other generic project management tools.
The transition from old user interface to new one, it is very confusing, the UI is not consistent when we visit URLs from email notifications. Compared to other generic tools, Jira is quite easy but still it is not easy to setup, it takes quite a few days to configure the system as per needs. It would be great if there were boilerplate templates.

I love JIRA. I use it professionally and personally. Even though it is primarily a task manager for software development, I have found that it is flexible enough to be used for all sorts of projects. It is amazing how customizable it is; you can configure your project settings to your already existing workflow, whatever it may be. While the initial setup can be time consuming, once you have your settings...
I think there is a lot of potential with Jira's NextGen projects, however, the software rollout has been uneven and often not well documented. I wish this process would have been better thought out to make transitioning to NextGen projects smoother.

From last 3 years, I am using Atlassian products especially Jira. With ease, I am managing my agile and software development products in Jira. This tool offers a vast variety of services/functionalities which really helped me a lot to manage my project and activities on a daily basis. Scrum/kanban board, automation, service desk/issue collectors & integration with other applications like servicenow,...
The best thing about this tool is that it offers you so much functionalities that makes your day to day work easier to manage and you can easily keep track all the project info at one place. Integration with other applications is one of the great functionality what this tool offers.
There are limited automations functionalities this software has to offer. While the project is software type, it does not offer you the automations functionalities. Other than that, this tool is a one stop solution for all your project needs.

Jira surprised me as coming across simple yet being incredibly powerful and versatile. It is a full blown Ticket and workflow management tool and it might be too much for small or personal projects. However, not being required to change the ticket system when the company or the team scales or are faced with types of tasks you did not expect is simply fantastic. Keeping software simple, easy to use yet increase its versatility and power is a virtue and Jira is build upon this virtue with care and vision
Jira is clean and it is simple yet powerful. You can use it for your basic ticket workflows from the get go and expand as you grow or the tasks you wisch to cover branch out. It is easy to customize the ticket views to contain the information you want to use and avoid cluttering. The Workflow editor is one of the most powerful I came across in all my professional career. It might not seem so much of...
When we scaled, the License was not as flexible in higher user tiers as it was in the lower ones. Also once upon a time an update went wrong and we had to invest a bucketload of time and brain power to get everything back up to speed. We did run jira on premise and hat some custom plugins so there might be some of the tripwires: In case you use plugins they must be available in the version you wish to upgrade to and this might require some research prior to updates. Also, you can make a science out of the workflow and notification configuration. In case it is not documented well when you do it it might get you into trouble.

We are able to manage our internal approvals effectively. It is really helping to track the status and for expediting the approvals. It works even we are not connected to office network. You can simply connect if there is internet connection available. It helps us to complete cross border approvals easily and reduced manual work and hard copy print outs. It also reduces time for internal approvals and helps to manage even huge volume of internal approvals by the stakeholders. The resources need not run from one desk to the other desk.
This tool works on a hosted model and can be accessed from anywhere in the world by using internet connection. The web version and even the mobile version (which i guess has been recently launched) is good and can be accessed through click of a button while it is assigned to you. It is has various options like assigning to different users, obtaining their comments, attaching supporting documents, printing...
The reports and dashboards does not provide for reports in a graphical way. The tickets can not be simultaneously assigned two or more users. The tickets can only be closed by the creator which is a set back if the creator does not close the ticket once its gets over. The note which is created allows only text inputs. It does not allow for creation of table or column. Turn around time for closure (at each specific user level) of the ticket can not be generated from the reports automatically. This is a big drawback. Also, it takes so much time for loading the contents and if the internet is slow then it does not get loaded at all.

I started project management with this in my toolkit and it has remained my favorite ever since. I have seen other options such as Kanbo or Monday, I believe Jira and its related ecosystem remains far superior. Its pricing scheme is pretty good as well, you can try it for free, adopt it in small teams almost free (10$/m) and can scale it up transparently. It gets pricier when it comes to enterprise grade, yet that is the norm and i believe it is money well spent.
The software is made around the idea of AGILE collaboration on projects for the entire team. It brings transparency to the processes and is a great information radiator for the entire team. It facilitates commonly used methodologies such as SCRUM and KANBAN and makes project management significantly easier. It is also very versatile and adaptable to particular needs. Although the standard fields are...
The plethora of fields and customizations available can make a new user feel a bit overwhelmed. In this regard, it takes a bit to get used to it. The interface could use a revamp to make things cleaner, clearer and more crisp for the more casual user at least. (ex: easier to find timekeeping, task transitions, new task coloring schemes and more) The workflow engine can also be upgraded to be more user friendly and provide more administrative options (create, apply, delete, manage versions) The security administration section also needs a revamp in terms of adding or removing users, groups, roles into or from project (ex: if you create a new group, you can't bulk add it to all existing projects without some scripting in the CLI)

As a QA in the team, our project is fully customised for tests, and Jira with Xray so far provides the best test management tool in the market. It makes life way easier, it is better than Zephyr and of course much better than excel sheets, which saves time, energy and money for us as testers and for the project.
The organisation of tests and the variety of the issue types for testing (Features ,Test cases, Test sets, Test executions, Test plan, bug...) The ability to track the executions of tests and bugs Great adaptability with Gherkin and Cucumber It goes perfectly with ISTQB standards for testing Perfect for both Scrum and Kanban users The great boards and views provided by Jira (followup dashboards, sprint board, ..) The ability to add Xray or Zephir or whatever test plugin that suits you
Jira users must receive a training before starting to use the software since it can be a little complex to use the software for the first time For testers you cannot execute the same test case more than once in the same test execution It gets more and more difficult when end to end testing multiple applications at the same time

Overall, JIRA does the job for our team and even though I am on the Systems Team, we ourselves are mostly users as well. That keeps the headaches in check (as things could be very frustrating when trying to administer the applications. See above for the reasons).
A team needs a ticket/issue tracking system and JIRA Atlassian seems to be used widely in the industry. As a user, it's easy to use for the most part. Besides having the option of hosting the application in-house, it also has the Cloud edition so from the Systems Team perspective, there's no need for servers, backups, security, keeping the service up (with fault tolerance), etc.
From the administration aspect of the software, JIRA still has a long way to go: 1) As an administrator, as far as I can see, one can *not* even do such a simple thing as change the Display Name for a user (I suppose it's a "feature" but I can't see why that's a good feature). Instead, an invite is sent out to the user, who can then set the Display Name after signing up. 2) As an administrator,...

Jira is an all-around effective and agile project management application for handling several teams and tasks. Jira is the best option for Kanban, Hybrid, and Scrum projects that require good project management. Jira users could improve their comprehension through training and supported services. Jira may be used to manage a project successfully.
Jira is a fantastic tool for managing projects. It is the finest choice for managing agile projects and bug tracking. Jira makes it possible to utilize several teams at once, creating a lot of connections. Teams from the product development, product design, and product strategy divisions may collaborate to better projects. Using the filtering and searching tools, each team may keep track of its own...
My own opinion is that it's a fantastic tool; one of the dew drawback is the cost per user, which initially looks good but increases overtime. Another drawback I've seen when using Jira is that there isn't an option to have audible notifications. When a new ticket is created, Jira, for instance, doesn't make a sound. So, if a user leaves the system, they risk missing a vital ticket.

My overall experience with Jira has been really good. Having used it for the first time for a particular project, I found it relatively easy to learn. The flexible creation of dashboards and filters has helped me keep my project tasks and tickets in a coordinated and neat manner, which has ensured I do not miss out on anything important unnecessarily.
Jira is a great tool. I use it every day as a part of a support project. I use it to keep track of my tickets like incidents, alerts, and service requests. The tool is super easy to use and one can learn it easily. The ticket management is absolutely great. Jira allows the user to create various filters and dashboards to keep a track of his/her various tickets, tasks, and requests. Multiple dashboards...
The only drawback I have experienced while using Jira is that it does not provide an option to have sound notifications. For example, while working with tickets, Jira does not notify the user of a new ticket with a sound. So when away from the device, the user might miss out on an important ticket unless it has collaborated with another tool like pagerduty. Even the mobile application does not have the option to enable sound notifications, and each time the user needs to open the application to see if any new tickets have been added to the queue.

When our internal IT Help Desk went down, we were in a bind. We needed something that we could get up and running with very little trouble and start getting help tickets going again. Despite there being a negative view of JIRA due to previous setup by non-technical users (who deemed it too complex); when the Help Desk was designed and implemented by the IT Team, there was very little talk of complication and more talk of how much better things were than the previous Help Desk. We did integrations with third-party collaboration tools and generated workflows and custom forms that made JIRA one of the best additions to our IT toolkit!
I love the quick and easy setup of JIRA spaces and it's integration with other Atlassian products. There are also a lot of third-party integrations to help fill-in the gaps.
JIRA is a beast. Plain and simple. Actually that's just it...it's not plain and simple. You have to have a good grasp of what you want from it to make sure you get what you really need. It is not friendly for the non-technical user looking to create a workspace.

JIRA is a highly regarded and intuitive application within the Atlassian suite of software development tools. Users have praised its seamless integration with other Atlassian software, making it a comprehensive and cohesive solution for software development teams. The functionalities offered by JIRA are extensive and cater to various aspects of project management, issue tracking, and collaboration.
The user interface of JIRA is often praised for its user-friendliness and intuitiveness, making it easy for both technical and non-technical users to navigate and utilize its features effectively. Furthermore, JIRA offers extensive customization options, allowing users to tailor the tool to their specific needs and preferences.
Setting up the workflow and advance reporting features is complex. However, it is worth the time. If documentation and tutorials get better, it would be great. The application provides advanced reporting and analytics capabilities, empowering teams to gain insights into their project metrics, track performance, and make data-driven decisions. JIRA also facilitates seamless collaboration among team members, with features like comment threads, activity streams, and notifications, ensuring everyone stays informed and engaged.

It is our project's complete ticket management solution; it also assists us in project management and work assignment extremely rapidly, saving us a lot of time and therefore increasing overall team productivity. Jira assists us in keeping track of all development tasks for our products and development teams; it is also an essential element of our customer feedback cycle on bugs and feature requests. Jira creates, reports, and delivers my daily modifications; using Jira, I can share all of my work with my colleagues; and Jira assists me in setting a due date for my assignment.
It is the greatest project management tool since it has all of the capabilities you need to construct a kanban board or a scrum board, as well as the ability to monitor all changes and issue stages with Jira. I like how we can personalize the program for our unique workflow and needs and integrate it utilizing webhooks and APIs; we do not have to come up with workarounds because it is flexible enough to be precisely what we need. I enjoy its user interface; the accessible choices and configurable dropdowns when posting a ticket make it extremely straightforward to use, and the ability to link tickets to relevant stories or test cases allows for rapid follow-up.
Almost all of the features I have discovered are fantastic, and there is nothing I do not like about Jira - it has all of the features I want, which is why it is one of the greatest project management systems and is used all over the world. However, I would like to tweak the test case management features a little.
