It has been great! we moved from Jetpack which is fairly new and has some time to go before they are as easy and useful and powerful as Karbon.
The common sense language is fantastic and navigation and training are both just so easy!
the layout isn't always the most simple but were getting used to it

The email feature is very good. It enables a remote team to pick up things even if the email was sent to someone else

I am able to onboard clients quicker and provide a more seem less entrance to our workflow. Staff are able to collaborate and share work more effectively while I see the overall plan of work from beginning to end. I start and end my day in Karbon and could not live without it to run my business.
Karbon is intuitive and flexible in it's approach to managing our workflow. Their support is on hand if we need it anytime. Using Karbon has revolutionised our Workflow and enabled us to increase efficiency and visibility over the team.
In the beginning Karbon set up and customisation can seem a little daunting

Great.
Features and ability to customize your workflow are close to perfect for accounting firms.
Difficult to do capacity planning without add-on for Practice Intelligence, and I'm having issue with Practice Intelligence.

-Email - workflow integration -its better than its competitors -great customer support - online support is super quick
-triage clunky compared to outlook 365 for the following reasons: -limited short cut keys -visually not as easy to find and review particular email streams -no calendar -work and workflow templates need to have job types

The workflow management using Kanban just makes it so easy to see what needs to be today, tomorrow and in the future. Workflow templates are an awesome way to get organized and allow for an efficient way to get client work done. The checklist format in work templates is great, one of our staff setup a complicated payroll for a client via a template that now anyone can go in and do that client's payroll without wonder if they missed something. Definitely a must have app for accounting workflow.
No custom fields ability, we send out birthday cards to our clients and we can't keep track of that in Karbon at the moment. Email scheduler so we can do up an email and schedule to send it out later. Email templates would be a great feature too.

Client communication is so simple yet secure. Automation works very well. It integrates with other products that I use.
Lack of control over sorting of work items in kanban so it's hard to practice first-in first-out workflow. Lack of flexibility in the templates so it's hard to do A/B testing and continuous improvement.

We love the ability to link emails to clients and jobs, no longer are our emails lost in each individual silo. The to-do list is an excellent feature - far superior to sticky notes and bits of paper. It is great for our remote team as well.
The job workflow still needs a few more functions/search categories to make it even better, but I am told some of these new functions are currently in the pipeline and I look forward to them being released.

Simple and easy to use Effective workflow management tool Convenient client communication Lean coding allows for a lot of hacks within the system to be made to achieve certain goals where feature limitations exist
A tonne of feature limitations as it is a young piece of software: no API, tasks cannot be assigned to "general" roles once assigned to a 'real' person, etc.

Karbon has solved the ‘silo’ problem in my Busenius. Complete visibility of communications between team member and customer is now a reality. The Karbon development team and support team are amazing and really care about me and my business.
Triage has eased the pain of dealing with the ever growing problem and distractions of managing emails. Digital communication with the customer and team members is smooth and easy. Workflow management and process templates has been a real game changer!
Can’t think of any Cons… I feel this is a good thing. 😉

Karbon solved a huge issue for Growthwise, one central place for all our work, lodgement deadlines, checklists and to-do's. Karbon is the 1 system that everyone in the team opens every morning and is our go-to for all information about our clients as well as work that needs to be done. It’s also great for workflow and transparency, as communication is visible between all clients for all users, meaning no searching for that email sent to someone else. It has saved us countless hours of workflow control time and allowed us to process jobs even quicker.

Great features & the development team is continuing to enhance the features & functionality of the software. Karbon covers most of the software needs for accounting firms. It can be used as a CRM, workflow management, Customer service, Team collaboration, Client Communication, and email management solution. I really dig it!
I Would like to see a more integration with other apps. Currently there is a quick books integration.

Karbon provides us with visibility over all aspects of our accounting business including communications with clients; assigning actions and status; workflow creation, scheduling and monitoring; project management; creating efficiencies and more. The new Practice Intelligence has provide even more valuable insights into our data and how we operate leading to reduced wastage and more profit.
The triage feature for emails and team communications is a massive time saver. Templates for work flows, and the ability to assign, view, review and action items with simple views and filters allows us to easily have a complete picture of where our workflows, outstanding actions and capacity scheduling for resource planning.

- One stop shop to see everything that is going on within the firm - Multiple ways to view information to manage work or see the tasks I need to do - Easy to oversee lots of pieces of work - Manageable inbox - Work templates make workflow standardized and easy to accomplish - Team actually uses (and loves) it!
- A bit hard to navigate to information within a client record - simple design mean sometimes there is a lot of clicking - No mail merge/email template database yet - have to keep an external email template database and add to commonly sent emails. - Beautiful design can come at a cost of having to click around a bit.

Smart concept to integrate the unified team inbox with the task and project management system. This unique combination of features puts Karbon in its own app category really, as there are plenty of project and workflow management apps out there, but they don't include the email inbox as an integral aspect, as Karbon does.
Some missing features are sure to come in time, such as the ability to search on Tasks and not just Work items (projects), Emails and Contacts — and more extensive keyboard shortcuts will be nice, too. The Karbon team are releasing new features on a consistent basis.

Overall we enjoy the product, we use it to manage our projects, time and communication internally. It has been a great addition to our practice and has allowed us more efficient onboarding, ease of access to information and is a great collaborative team tool.
Karbon helps our firm stay on top of work items and allows us to share items between colleagues while avoiding lengthy email chains. Its a practical approach to creating standardized work, assigning tasks and having accountability. We love the integrations with other software applications that we use, it has truly made our workflow smoother and more transparent for the whole team.
Sometimes we don't necessarily want to create a new work item- Like if we were visiting a set of client for a marketing initiative- we would want to record the visits but would like a way to do this without creating a work item.

Amazing how much mental clutter you can gain by getting rid of your email inbox. Once you've trained yourself to not check triage every 10 minutes (like you would email), it's great to have everything cleared away, allocated or scheduled for future reference. And having the task and work updates automatically reflected in the workflow saves a huge amount of time of having to maintain it manually.
There are a few things we'd like to see automated, or other dependencies created. For example, ability to automatically reallocate a piece of work to a different individual or change its status once a certain date passes. We're sure it's on the list!

The ability to monitor workflow, tag emails to client as well as the specific work being done is priceless. Information doesn't get misplaced and its so easy to stay on top of deadlines. In one view I can see what work is planned, in progress, what is waiting on the client etc. With so many records being electronic you can't just look around the office anymore to see what's physically there, Karbon is the solution to the digital record management.
The client tasks need to be little easier to manage. It would be nice to be able to send just a form email rather than a checklist type of communication and changing the date it is being sent should be able to be done within the task rather than the work template.

Karbon support has always been great. Higher ups are not accessible. While they always solicit feedback, it never seems to get heard. They seem to be chasing markets and customers right now and not focusing on their existing clients and how they can help them be more productive.
Karbon has revolutionized Workflow for accountants. Truly taken it to a new level. It does so many things so well that it is hard to not take those features for granted until you compare it to other similar software. Here are some exceptional features While not perfect, the email integration is great Creating and managing projects is relatively easy and painless Client task management is excellent and extremely useful Automations is work is great team collaboration is very good especially at the task level Mostly great utilization of screen realestate.
Todo list is frustrating for me. Being a Franklin Covey person, i want more control over my todo list. I cant export my todo list either which would help mitigate this issue. Not enough control over tasks. Task list can be overwhelming and thus not useful No proactive feedback about assigned tasks or notes. IF I assign someone a task, email or note, I want to know when they have done the work and...

TRIAGE - LOVE IT! you only read an email once, action it (assign to yourself, someone else, respond or create work), none of this reviewing the same emails as you constantly try to clear your inbox. You then work out of your TO-DO list and you even get the satisfaction of ticking items off the list The TRIAGE and TO-DO list help your own personal workflow/daily schedule but the "work" in Karbon is so easy to see at a glance what everyone is up to. We had someone really sick for a week and in the click of a button we reallocated the work, and all the correspondence with the client was attached.
Not really a "con" just an area to continue to improve - Emailing out of the triage is good, and they keep adding features, but it doesn't have all features of gmail etc it works well for most, but the attachment limit can catch you off guard sometimes but i know they are increasing the attachment size.

We used JetPack for a year and then moved on to the next task management system. I found that it was easy to enter in tasks and make them recurring. Plus with the reports, we could filter by name of task, due date, etc. We did have an issue with tasks randomly disappearing, though, which was really scary and made us lose some trust in the system. The support team was very helpful and I contacted the fairly frequently through chat and over the phone. We ended up moving on to Karbon because of the email integration, but overall my experience with JetPack was actually pretty good. It's geared toward bookkeepers, and I really liked that because things were already ready for us.
