I can now put my data to work for me

2016-10-18

When I started my new job as Project Director at Primitive Spark, we had a variety of systems for managing our clients and operations, but most were not connected. After researching a ton of project management tools, we found Mavenlink to be as robust as we needed it to be without being overwhelming. The quick snapshots of the Analytics reports let you know if you're on track while the trends that are pulled from the Insights are very powerful to help us manage and course correct our estimate, resourcing and burn rate. Onboarding was easy and I always felt I had the support needed. So happy to have a single tool to help me do my job successfully.

Pros

Resourcing, Scheduling for projections, the ability to compare actuals vs. scheduled/estimates, timetracking with a timer/timesheet or in the weekly timesheet tool - flexibility to do it however works best for you.

Cons

The Gantt chart is slow to load when you have a large project plan, there is no in tool estimate feature really that is comprehensive, there are workarounds, but would love to see that added.

Great for a small-medium sized company. Really simple to use and support is great. This allows me to manage my team and my company's profits through easy-to-use dashboards to understand what's going on at a project level as well as companywide. I no longer feel like I'm throwing a dart in the dark. Take Mavenlink to combine all your project management and financial information into one tool, you'll be happy you did.

pretty good tool to track and bill clients for milestone and T&M work

2018-07-12

Pros

Its easy to have teams fill out their timesheets and attach their time to specific tasks on deliverables.

Cons

one of the cons is reporting or the lack thereof, once the information is in the tool, it take some work to analyze and report off it. another con, is that the UI isn't very intuitive, for example joining a project isn't very straight forward if you've not done it before.

Pros

Also has task scheduling, timesheets, charting, and critical path.

Cons

Implementation costs were somewhat high. No Microsoft Project integration.

Good Software with potential

2018-12-11

The chat feature is awesome if you have an easy fix. However, you are assigned a Client Success Manager for the more difficult requests. Overall, its pretty user friendly.

Pros

Each employee must choose a project and the specific milestone they want to put time to in order to enter it on their timesheet.

Cons

I do not like that there you have to use "Groups" as where you put the client info. There is no quick click from the project to the client "group" page nor vice versa. It seems a bit clunky.

Andrea, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We¿re thrilled that you¿ve found the flexible work breakdown structure features of Mavenlink to be of value. In terms of our timesheet functionality, although we¿ve released a number of timesheet innovations and enhancements this year, we¿ve yet to release the feature you¿ve mentioned. We¿ll definitely take your valued feedback into consideration to guide our roadmap and future development priorities. Also, we¿ll be reaching out to you directly with the hope of scheduling time to better understand your needs and the enhancement opportunity. Thank you, again.

Mavenlink for small business!

2015-01-29

Pros

For example, a lot of other products have an 'enterprise edition' that is expensive for only 3-5 users and is overkill (employee timesheets, etc), however, if we were to downgrade to their lower edition we would lose project essential tools like time-tracking and budget management.

Cons

The fact that you cannot pay month-to-month and have to commit to a year is a bit disheartening for a small company, but we spent lots of time trying it out to make sure it's what we wanted and it has been great so far. I was also disappointed/ confused on the way their users work. You pay for a set amount of users, however, you can add outside users to individual projects as a part of the company and they have access to track time, etc. When we asked support about this they seemed very confused and told us we'd have to pay for more users so we stopped doing that. However, I don't think we'd actually be charged if we did it that way since those 'users' on individual projects don't show up under the user management section.

Take your time and really utilize each trial to figure out what works best for you and what your have to haves are. I have other companies try to convince me that I didn't need budget tracking when we are a company that bills based on time. If you know what works for your company, you'll have a better chance at finding it. Don't skimp on the smaller apps just because they're cheap -- you'll be disappointed in the end.
