I Wouldn't Know How To Run My Life Without Omnifocus

2019-10-15

It allows me to have everything in one place, projects for work and errands for the house.

Pros

It's the first place I check in the morning since it shows me my calendar and tasks all in one place, so I can see my day at a glance.

Cons

Learning to use the tags and projects features took a little time.

The second best task management software

2019-03-06

Well, I used OF for good two years (Pro version) and while it served me well, I ultimately found that the way OF implements task management is too focused to micro-management.

Pros

- Feature-rich app, allows you to control almost every aspect of your tasks - Maybe the best task management software suite for handling complex projects - iOS companion app - Web service allows you to access most critical functions when on the go (or working from a different platform) - If you often have to manage complex tasks projects, OmniFocus is well probably the best choice - They recently added tags!

Cons

- Only for Mac :( - IMHO not the very best tool for small to medium task projects - Sometimes it seems it is more focused to cater micro-management fans than staying out of the way - Pricey

This is how I plan my day!

2018-10-24

Pros

Syncing is automatic and very reliable through Omni Group’s omnisync server.

Cons

I’d also like to see a collaboration feature, eg a shared task list or project whereby tasks can be added and completed by anyone in the group.

Task Management for Mac

2016-03-07

I researched and tried just about every task management app there is.

Pros

Ability to email tasks to the app and have them show up in your task inbox, Multiple fields for prioritization/contexts/filtering, ability to create custom views (called perspectives)

Cons

They really, really need a way to prioritize via drag and drop. That's the only con, but it's a huge one

Powerful Task/Project Organizer

2018-11-29

Amazing!

Pros

Omnifocus is an extremely powerful task/project organizer, and has easy shortcuts for adding tasks.

Cons

It took me a long time to really understand how powerful Omnifocus is (and I still don't think that I have taken advantage of all of its features, even though some of them may be applicable to me).

Feature rich, yet missing some critical things

2018-07-26

Pros

Built with a robust set of features that allow you to really follow the Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology of context and prioritizing. Like the ability to embed outside calendars in the task views.

Cons

Since I need this for one my jobs - it was out, and I like to have consistency between different work projects if I can so I'm not running on multiple software where necessary.

Robust solution

2019-01-13

I really enjoy OmniFocus. There's nothing that I've ever wanted it to do that it can't.

Pros

It has all the functionality you need to manage tasks and projects.

Cons

It can be overkill and the learning curve is higher than more simplistic solutions, but not overly so.

The GTD Swiss-Army Knife

2019-03-01

I swear by OmniFocus. It is a central part of my workflow chain. If you are a believer in GTD, this is the app for you!

Pros

It has iCal integration, and reminders for weekly review (with a separate page tailored to that activity). Not to mention the custom Perspectives option that the paid version offers to the user, which opens up a world of possibility in controlling the way the data is interacted with.

Cons

Another gripe I have with the Omni Group is that they are not very open to third-party integrations.

When you need it, you need it

2020-03-31

It helps keep me on track. When I'm doing GTD well and doing my Weekly Reviews (which Omnifocus supports very well) then I'm staying on track with my life.

Pros

I've used a lot of iOS and Mac task managers.

Cons

Just because a task has a million fields you can you doesn't mean you have to use them.

Best task management app I’ve ever used

2019-01-15

Pros

- easily capture and sort tasks - tame the overwhelm by filtering tasks and projects so you only have to see what you want to see - incredibly flexible, can be customized to suit anyone’s task management system

Cons

- flexibility makes it rather complex - Omnifocus is like a blank canvas, requires you to have a clear idea of what your own trusted system is and how it works

A Great Tool to Manage Time Effectively.

2020-08-19

Pros

I really appreciate OmniFocus's easy to use interface, and how quick it was to learn the workflow.

Cons

I would love to see a system to put in a to-do list and have the software create a schedule based on given parameters, especially priority, sequential tasks, repeating tasks, and difficulty to complete.

The Ultimate All-In-One Organization Tool

2019-09-28

OmniFocus combines all the organizational tools you might otherwise use into one space, which makes it significantly easier to keep track of tasks each day.

Pros

It allows for so many ways to organize tasks, whether you prefer checklists, automatic reminders, or more of a calendar view.

Cons

The only limitation I experience with OmniFocus is the lack of more visual elements - if you're most comfortable with lists and folder-like organization, then this would probably not bother you at all! However, the option to have a more freeform layout would be the cherry on top for me.

Ultra-powerful task management software

2018-10-25

OmniFocus has changed my task management strategy and I cannot use any other system now because of how scalable and powerful this system is.

Pros

This software can literally do anything related to managing your daily tasks. You can build outlandish project and folder hierarchies or keep a few projects around.

Cons

It can be daunting to try at first because of how much this software can do.

The learning curve is worth it

2019-05-08

Omnifocus helped me structure both my professional and personal life at a granular level.

Pros

Being able to manage tasks across platforms is a huge plus for me.

Cons

The learning curve can be steep. There are a lot of apps that do similar things, but this seems to do the most. It's a good thing but mastering it can be a bit of a hassle. Additionally, it's expensive!

Best task management app I've ever worked with

2018-03-23

Pros

I can set up my to-dos and group them into projects and folders, so I can differentiate between client work and work on my own business as well as between the different clients and the different projects I'm working on for them.

Cons

There's already a field for the duration of every task, why not go the next step and tell you how much time you've got already allocated that day, week or month.

Most Incredible Productivity Software-Sad you can't use with team

2019-12-20

I fly through my reviews and tasks and it never gets in the way.

Pros

Weekly review feature lets me set review frequency for each project, and I can mark them reviewed as I do it.

Cons

Omnigroup recently added a little more functionality for teams, but really it's still not a team tool. If it were, my professional productivity life would be complete.

A wonderful approach to getting things done

2019-04-24

Powerful and Versatile Task Management

2019-01-08

From personal projects and errands with a clearly-defined end point, to routines that repeat at various intervals, I use OmniFocus to remind myself what I need to do now, what’s coming up in the near future, and what long-range plans and ideas I have percolating in the back burner.

Pros

Omnifocus allows me to structure my tasks and projects virtually any way I want and then filter them so that I only have to see what I want to see, when I want to see it.

Cons

Omnifocus was originally designed as an implementation of David Allen’s Getting Things Done system and it still works beautifully for that.

Stay on Target with Omnifocus

2020-05-26

There is a slight learning curve for OmniFocus, but once you get into the rhythm, it is becomes an essential part of your work flow and helping you to stay ahead of your projects and tasks..

Pros

As a big fan of GTD (Getting Things Done), I love that Omnifocus was built around it from the ground up to serve the GTD methodology.

Cons

My main complaint is that it isn't on all platforms (Apple and non-apple). Since it's fully tied to the Apple ecosystem, you can't access your to-do's from Android, Windows, etc - or even a browser which is a severe limitation to some users.
