Pros

It's been great having so many templates to choose from and customize. Awesome that it can be integrated with MS Teams.
I love the ease to customize your sheet for whatever you need and however you like it. Love being able to switch around columns and sort rows so quickly too.
The project being web-based helps to share information with other members of the team. The ability to export to various formats, as well as get team updates is a huge benefit.

Pros

It is so powerful, and I know I'm barely scraping the surface of what all it's capable of. It is amazing for tracking progress, analyzing data, and staying organzied.
I like the ease of this software to input my numbers that have been acquired over the year and is a good reference to keep my numbers straight.
I would easily recommend it as it's perfect for kids in school, in the work place etc. All it's features are detailed and open doors for me to be as creative as I want to be.

Cons

I then took the Smartsheet training to be certified and that opened my eyes to the power of the tool (and also to the fact that the sheets I hated were users in our company using it very, very WRONG).
The only complaint that I have is that if the spreadsheet is very large, the page can be slightly laggy.
Some features seem to be missing or limited features available.

Cons

Some of the error messages are hard to decipher when using the software and the functions have confusing variables to put in at times.
The software cannot be readily integrated or harmonized with other information systems. The software is totally insensitive to human errors; it does not prompt the user when there is an error.
When there is a large amount of data entered into a spreadsheet it's inevitable to have trivial human mistakes made. Sometimes it's very difficult to find those mistakes later.

Automation is the best feature. I can assign task to anybody, get an update and set timeliness to trigger me before deadline. Milestone invoicing is something a use to collaborate with accounting team for upcoming project payments etc

Cons

I want to see more flexibility in smartsheet like Microsoft excel.

We have had a great experience not only with the seemingly endless possibilities of this software, but also with customer service. The reps are always eager and willing to work with us on projects that we have. Some of our projects include the traditional project management, but we have also found use of Smartsheet for real-time maintenance requests and records as well as a spare parts inventory! Smartsheet made it possible to have the convenience of a maintenance management software without having to make a huge investment! Very pleased with the results, capabilities, and customer support of Smartsheet. Great product and company all around.

Pros

Very versatile. Real-time viewing. Could based, any computer, anywhere! Web-form, Spreadsheets, Projects, etc. accessible by anyone, not just paid users.

Cons

Not as versatile as Microsoft Excel as far as formulas go, however, information can be imported/exported to/from Excel.

I like how similar Smartsheet is to Microsoft Excel because it makes it that much easier to learn how to use. It also syncs with Microsoft Outlook for full project collaboration.

Cons

The calendar view is limited to only a few tasks at a time. If you want to see the full view of your current projects you need to open it in a new window.

Smartsheet provides the ability for us to easily collaborate online on a project tracker with those outside of our organization, providing good basic features even for those users with only the free plan.

Pros

For project tracking, Smartsheet is a user-friendly alternative to Microsoft Project and Smartsheet offers good online help resources directly from the search bar for its basic features.

Cons

Although my preferred way of project tracking (compared with Microsoft Project), the spreadsheet capabilities of Microsoft Excel are better when dealing with large amounts of data or more involved formulas. As a result, I use Smartsheet for project tracking activities and use MS Excel for data-intensive activities.

It’s simple enough to use. The interface is good. It can be a useful tool on its own if you’re not heavily intertwined already with Microsoft or you’re a younger organization. It can also be useful in complementary to SharePoint for workflows.

Pros

Love the fact that its very similar to Microsoft Excel and has the layout close to it. Which allows to transition with ease.

Cons

The issue is at times when you want to open a document you saved in Smartsheet and try to open in Microsoft Excel, the format does not work well.

what can i not praise about this product. it is a mix of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. it's a spreadsheet you can store comments and attachments. works a lot like excel for calculation and the variety of ways to view your information is awesome. from Gantt charts to cards to calendar views, it's just awesome.

Cons

the attachment of files can be a bit hit and miss at times. they seem to look like their are saving and don't.

It's a great tool that has a bit of a way to go in terms of software development to catch up with Excel.

Pros

We use smartsheet daily for resource tracking, scheduling, daily task completion and budgeting. It's great that organizations that don't require all employees to create spreadsheets can purchase licenses for key personnel, and the rest can use a free account for viewing/editing existing spreadsheets.

Cons

It's not as feature rich as Microsoft Excel, and the biggest drawback is the limitation in the number of rows that can be created.

I use Smartsheet over Excel because of the Gantt Chart features and ease of implementation.

Pros

This program is very similar to Microsoft Excel, so my background with Excel has come in handy whilst adjusting to Smartsheet. Smartsheet is very intuitive, nevertheless, and has some features that are a step in front of Excel such as automatic formulas to sum progress and it has a Gantt Chart view!!

Cons

There are so many things that can be done with Smartsheet but I have not had the time to explore and do it all.

Smartsheet is basically an online collaborative version of Microsoft Project and Excel. It has some features from both which makes it easy to learn and use

The actual functionality offered by Smartsheet can be limited when you are a daily user coming from either Excel or Project background.

Overall it's great for sales tracking and for creating promotional calendars for new product launches.

Pros

Very flexible across all roles and industries. I love using it with OneDrive to be able to collaborate online with others, like Google Sheets or SmartSheet.

Cons

Because it's so flexible, it can be a bit daunting with a blank sheet. I recommend a few online courses to find out what formulas will work best for you.

Pros

Ease of use, incredible (almost never-ending) functionality and tools for data analysis. Excel is underrated and often looked down on as an old stodgy software, but is irreplaceable for its quick and easy and powerful toolset.

Cons

Some tools such as SmartSheet allow for quicker formatting and manipulation of data that can be useful for certain types of documents (project plans, etc.).

Excel has always been the industry standard for spreadsheets and will continue to be for some time. For online sheet collaboration, Smartsheet/Google is better, but this may improve in the future.

Cons

- Online version (Office 365) could be improved. Collaboration tools from alternatives are alot more seamless to use.

This software does a little bit of everything and can help you keep your books, analyze data, and the turn that data into beautiful presentations. For the most part, it's easy to learn the functions as well!

Cons

Sometimes the software can be limiting when you want to do certain charts where smartsheet is better at project management. You do need to educate yourself on some user functionality but if you can do that then it's worth it!

Excel is amazingly powerful, however, you can begin using it as a simple grid matix without any knowledge of the program. It allows you to build on your knowledge base.

Cons

Two areas of improvement would greatly benefit users: 1) Multiple Simultaneous users - Excel needs to update to provide a 'Smartsheet' type option that allows multiple users to update the same sheet at the same time without overwriting each other. 2) Feet-Inches-Fractions - Excel needs to provide a feature to automatically convert to and display in feet-inches-fractions rounded to a user specified accuracy.
