  • The one and only thing that frustrates me is the awful sync between the desktop and mobile. I have since stopped using the mobile app and keep a tab open on my PC to start and stop when I need it.Raitis G.Read the full review

The perfect time tracking & productivity tool

Used weekly for 1-2 years

Review Source: GetApp

Pros
It's a great and very simple time tracking tool that can also be used for tracking productivity, especially across large, remote teams on complex projects. Whilst it's seen as a tool designed for working with contractors/ freelancers, it can also be used very well across teams on specific projects to ensure that the right people are investing the right amount of time on each aspect of a complex project.

Cons
It's not cheap and as it's more of a luxury for internal teams so it can be hard to justify the price.

Now that we work for value, not for hours, the only benefit is checking where people waste time.

Pros
User interface, easyness of use, clear workflow and reports are indeed useful and with nice graphs. Also, the manual entries are quick.

Cons
Price. Definitely the pricing is really high for the benefits. It is basically a timer guys, so come on, a team of 10 really have to drop golds tp afford it...dont forget the common startup or small business already have to pay for Office 365 suite, for task managing, eventually for security like enterprise mobility management softwares, etc.

It tracked my employees time. It was great!

Pros
I liked how it would track each project. I prefer to bill exactly the amount of time it takes to do a task and Toggl is the best way to track task by task for billable hours.

Cons
The costs kinda get's expensive after you add a lot of employees in comparison to other ways of tracking time. The value overcomes the cost, however.

Worry free time tracking that I am happy to use.

Pros
I think the toggle Web app and the chrome extension has been the easiest time trackers to use across my team. There weren't any bulky items to download, I can easily see what project team members and contractors are billing for and easy privacy settings to adjust.

Cons
I've seen this happen in many other software companies. The unpaid tier is such an incredible value but upgrading to a more pro option is a much more expensive jump. I would rather pay one price for additionally work spaces then by per user.

Pros
The free version of Toggl is an incredible bargain for our very small (give person) team. We were looking for simple hour tracking software at a low cost, and this is everything we need. The Chrome extension makes it incredibly easy to track hours. The interface is so easy to use, everyone picked it up within minutes. You can leave descriptions for your tracked time, easily start/stop tracking various activities, etc.

Cons
The version we're using doesn't have a ton of features: you can track your time and view basic reports. However, it's really not a con for us since we didn't need bells and whistles, plus we're using the free version.

Great, it allowed us to calcule how much do we earn on every project and where we're wasting our time.

Pros
Simplicity. Toggl is very simple and has a great user interface. When we're onboarding people they get how Toggl works in seconds. On the other hand it is as complex as it should be to make it useful for analysis and time tracking. Really great piece of software.

Cons
The price - Toggl is really expensive if you want to expand it for your whole team. While it is possible to use several workspaces it is becoming painful when the team is growing. And then, the price is very high for time tracking tool.

I wanted this to be a backup history log of my work without needing to maintain it by integrating with other tools. This worked well enough, but it was costing me too much for the features I used, particularly support for projects, which is the thing I wanted to most that required a payment tier.

Pros
The project view is useful and getting a quick visual of how I am using my time is great, also great for the fact that it integrates with a lot of other tools.

Cons
The user interface can feel simplistic and limiting at times, with some weird bugs. The pricing tiers could be better.

It was easy to track time across the team on both chargeable work and non-chargeable. It was a good step in managing small chargeable requests and did increase our income (as previously many small requests were just done free rather than record in a fiddly spreadsheet).

Pros
The tool helped us avoid missed income and lost time, with the handy app and interface.

Cons
The pricing model started to get very expensive as the team size grew. We didn't use many of the extra features - it was purely to track chargeable and non-chargeable time.

Great tool to track time across teams, projects and clients

I have used Toggl to track freelance work (some billable, some not) and it has worked wonders for the past few years. We recently started using it in a wider team at a law firm I advise. We wanted to control wether client work was profitable or not, and because time is the biggest resource in that kind of work, we lacked a good way to track that. Since using Toggl we've been able to check how much time we put on each client/project and then use that info as feedback when estimating new workloads and projects.

Pros
Toggl is one of the easiest to use time-tracking apps I've used. Apps for mobile devices and both Windows and Mac work great. Also, tasks autocomplete (from previous entries) makes entering data a breeze. Easily see team time in the web dashboard or dig deeper in detailed reports. Pomodoro functionality is included in the apps too.

Cons
Nothing so far. Pricing can seem expensive if your team is large, but for us it has proved a great way to control costs when time is the main resource your company uses.

Great tool, and considering the price point, and ease of use, is hard to beat!

Pros
I love how easy this is to use. You can even set it so it reminds you when you aren't tracking your time. The reports and dashboard on where you're spending your time is also very useful. Great if you are a contractor and charging an hourly fee or for a specific project that you've allocated a set number of hours to.

Cons
The constant reminder to track your time can both be great, but also a little irritating if you are also using your computer for recreational use.

Great software to keep track of how long it takes to do various aspects in business.

I always wonder how long different things take so I can lower or, most of the time, raise my prices. It makes it much easier to say how long a job takes so I can adjust my prices accordingly, instead of just guessing how long something took.

Pros
I enjoy having a chance to have multiple folders/categories with individual listings. So, it can work for multiple clients but the same type of job or even type. I like that they have an app that works on most OS, including Android.

Cons
I wish there was a better way to have sub categories for clients, such as if you have multiple jobs from them or more work down the road. It could be a little easier to use as some parts of it, are difficult to have it fit our needs. Or maybe even multiple timers or a set of timers to fit with promodoro timers.

Knowing where my time went!

Pros
In the remote team, every new employee gets trained with Toggl for a few months. We use Toggl instead of anything else because the time tracking software is incredibly easy to deploy. Toggl doesn't care if you're a Mac, Windows, Linux, Unit, Toaster user. (Okay maybe don't use toasters for your OS system.) You can put it on your mobile device, add it as a gmail extension, and do all sorts of other fun integrations. The value is how easy it is to build reports. I can quickly export a day/week/month's worth of activities to my boss to give them an idea of the time length of projects. If I was working with a team, I can avoid the back-and-forth exchange and look at their report from the administrative side. Moreso, the reminders are pretty helpful, pinging me when I may forget to track my time.

Cons
There's nothing I can think of that Toggl can do better. It's a solid platform, the price is great and I highly recommend it.

Toggl helps us track our time as a creative studio, which helps us to track our productivity and price our work accordingly.

Pros
I love that the free version gives you full access to anything you would really need to track time as a professional. The pro version has the ability to mark tasks as billable/non-billable which is also a nice add-on. Toggl's reporting is so useful and insightful, and always loads incredibly quickly - even if you are requesting a year or more worth of data. You can also create teams and monitor your entire studios performance in this way.
