We use the tool to manage all website development projects (tasks, assignments, schedule, LOE, performance reporting, team management, etc.) time logging, Agile burndown, Kanban, employee tracking, and billing; pretty much every aspect of our business.
-The ability to customize the software to fit within your business operations. It's not a one size fits all where you have to modify company operations to fit within like other PM software. -The reporting functionality and the ability to build custom reports -Once you learn how to use it and get to know the intricacies, textmode is AMAZING! It allows you to build very custom reports, templates, fields,...
-We submit enhancement ideas or tickets to the product team and feel like they always just get lost in the shuffle. There are a lot of things that we could use but I guess other companies or Workfront don't see the value so our ideas are very slow to be added to their Product Roadmap or come to market. -It's not the cheapest on the market, that's for sure. -There is somewhat of a learning curve for new employees at my company trying to learn the software just because it is SO powerful. -There could be better integrations, specifically with Git.

It helps us save time when it comes to resource allocation and time management. The reporting features helps upper-management better understand what we are doing and how much time it takes to do it. I love how they are constantly pushing updates that help improve the tool based on user feedback.
I have been a Workfront user for a few years now and am a big proponent of this project management tool for several reasons. 1) I find it very intuitive for users to use 2) It is easily customized based on the needs of your users 3) The reporting feature is worth the price of admission itself 4) Their support team is quick to respond and the self-help area is robust so you can find an answer to...
Setting up can be time consuming if you don't already have a process in place. Do your homework and dedicate the time to do it right before launch or else user adoption can be difficult. Plan on user adoption to be your biggest hurdle as people are uncomfortable with change. Make the Workfront trainings mandatory before use.

Overall the system does what we need it do do, but we are underutilizing it, making it difficult to justify the cost. It is challenging to navigate what are perceived limitations alone, but when you get to conference you see there are workarounds for. Consulting hours are ok, the consultant can make or break if they are valuable and often only bring to the table what you can find in help or community. Account Reps are also challenging and provide inconsistent service.
Workfront is customizable and can be tailored to meet the different needs of a variety of units throughout the College. Everything can be in one place, making it easier to communicate, and make decisions. The opportunities to make improvements to process are endless.
There are too many ways to do the same things, making it difficult to train and onboard users. The frequency that things change also makes it hard for existing users to stay on top of functionality. Help and customer support are inconsistent, often pointing you to help articles that you can find on your own. There are many tips and hacks to the system that are almost impossible to find or figure our on your own, and the only time you really learn about them is at conference when you connect with amazing Workfront consultants or attend some great sessions.

Workfront is a great web-based project management platform. It is well-designed, and the company continues to make updates to improve it's platform and does not just sit on their hands for one annual update. It is very easy to link projects, manage workflows, the reporting is intuitive, and much more. In addition, asset management is streamlined with ability to house documents within projects, or...
Well-designed Continual Updates from Workfront instead of waiting to fix problems Ease of linking projects with cross-predecessors Managing Workflows Reporting DAM Engaged community with other Project Managers to discuss best ways to utilize Workfront Integration with other platforms
I am interested in almost all that Workfront has to offer, but to have everything it can do can be cost-prohibitive. My company has utilized other platforms, that may be less efficient and harder to keep everything consolidated, simply because of the additional cost of utilizing the feature in Workfront.

Data! It provides the ability to capture so much data and then visualize it via report that it changed our organizational culture from rear facing to forward facing. We now make decisions that can impact future outcomes opposed to reviewing what happened last quarter, which we have no control over now.
It is a really cool tool. There are many features and so much functionality available. The best thing is the ability to collaborate within the system. Using static project management tools like project can cause issue with static information or mulitple versions of a plan floating about, but with a tool like this one, you have real-time project data. You also have the ability to capture custom data and the best feature is the ability to report on this data real-time.
There are a lot of features, functionality and configuration in this software. It provides solutions to so many problems and provides value, but you MUST have super users and sys admins to help maintain support and user adoption. This is not something that is easily onboarded in a day or two. It will take careful and thoughtful planning to configure, onboard, train and then support.

We are using WorkFront for about 2 years now and is very pleased with the functionality and feature set it provides to meet our needs to manage Workfront takes time and effort to implement, but anything worthwhile should. Workfront's team has been very helpful to us and really cares that we earn a win for our team. I am an end user of Workfront within teams. Workfront helps me keep on track with all my work, tracking progress and deadlines to ensure all work is delivered efficiently and on time.
Customization and Small Duration to be built and including good tools for Project Management In case of owning a lot of tasks on daily basis: Workfront is the best for monitoring and follow up Including all the required Reports for Top Management Very Good Support Team Always upgrading and adding new features and reports
I couldn’t reach how to automate prioritizing projects and assigning project, I am searching for this feature currently Company should have a process before using this software else it will not add anything to the work flow Higher Cost than other simpler software’s companies Hard to get team members to update data consistently, which impacts project status/reporting

The biggest thing is controlling the chaos and putting all project related info in one place.
The tool allows use to build standardization across the global network while allowing for some customizations for individual business units. The tool also has a ton of features that allows a business unit to grow and mature in the tool and in the industry
The biggest thing for me is the price. It is an expensive tool and so some business units have to do weird or fancy workarounds to reduce the number of licenses purchased. This means they are not using the tool to its fullest potential.

Before Workfront we struggled with paper proofs being routed across desks and edits written in pen. Communication and revisions via email threads connected to digital creative assets were lost. Tracking estimated team hours and keeping projects moving in a linear fashion was barely manageable. Workfront resolved these issues at a mid-level price point for a small to medium-sized business or agency. While some of the bigger enterprise features and integrations may be missing, all the essentials as readily available, easily accessible, and not too difficult to setup.
This digital proofing system is among one of the more intuitive project management platforms I've used. Here are some of the things to like about Workfront: the ability proof web pages with live click throughs, version control, simulated browsers and devices, inline comments, a hierarchy of approvals, and progress taskbar.
Here are things that Workfront could use a little improvement: custom forms, integration to marketing platforms for deliverables on task management calendar (Hubspot specifically), more intuitive gantt charts for tracking team progress, and user views/rights that allow end-users to view and share projects without custom permissions.

When a whole team is using this tool it allows for seamless progress without having to send mundane and repetitive emails throughout the day. You can track progress, assign tasks to people, upload documents, fill out necessary custom forms and then generate reports from said forms and tasks. It's easily customize able so you can manage and alter templates; also you can mess around in Sandbox which will allow you to try and "break the system" without harming of the already completed work. There are a lot of tools that I've yet to discover in WorkFront, but the live updates that are published company-wide is a great indirect communication tool.
WorkFront can be very slow to update and laggy. Once a template exceeds the 400 task mark, the overall program will start to slow. Also, when altering dates the program can be very slow to update and sometimes I'll need to "Recalculate Timeline" just to see if my edit had saved. I've also heard that it is quite pricey for my company (even though I don't pay for it personally), Smartsheets I've heard is cheaper.

We started our PMO in 2009, needing a way to get a handle on our project intake and help define our project management methodology. Overall, this is fantastic PM software. It's extremely useful and is great for larger, more complex agencies that deal with detailed financial reporting. It's also good for a company where employees are remote or stationed across the country.
This software is diverse and extremely extensive. If you are looking for a system that can accurately allocate time to a project, then this is for your company! The system integrates designers availability into each project so you can accurately see who on your team has available to work on a project. The PM software is also ideal for organizing financials. You can create an estimate using this software by adding in the amount of hours you think a project will take. Then depending on whose hours you are quoting, the system will pull an accurate financial estimate for you. For example, if you mechanical designer bills at a rate of $100 per hour and you quote 2 hours of work, the system will recognize their pay scale and estimate that the project will cost $200.
The software isn't the most intuitive. There are a lot of nuances that are involved in this software. It's extremely complex and there are times that creatives specifically are turned away from the software because it feels like more effort than it's worth to learn how to use it. If you aren't using this to track your time, then I think there are other PM softwares that would be more useful for you creative agency to utilize.

Our Internal Agency group has been using Workfront/ AtTask coming up on 3 years. We started with 50 users and at last count, we were over 130. - I can't imagine any large enterprise that would be too big to use Workfront. Properly configured, it can handle any size and number of projects - easy to learn, easy to use. Adoption by new users is quick and worry free. 20 minutes training gets a new user up and running - reporting tools are awesome. - the ability to adapt this software to any kind of process make it useful across many areas. We are finding new ways to use it each month. - the collaboration part of each project makes it comfortable for all to use. Everyone sees everything in one place - SAAS makes it available anywhere there is WiFi
- it is an expensive solution for small companies. - some nomenclature is confusing - some of their processes are a bit clunky but they are being re-worked continually

Overall Workfront has helped our organization by helping to create a repeatable process with workflows to teams we've chosen. We can now differentiate between low complexity and med/high complexity work. We can measure incoming work because ALL work comes in as a task. Workfront serves as the one source of truth to find marketing work and final files. Hours are now measurable, ready to start tasks by team or department are easy to view. API usage has tremendously enhanced our experience as well.
The customizability of the platform is amazing. Based on the functionality of the tool, we created customized request queues and forms, and customized project templates for a consistent process. All work flows from an initial request and ends with project completion. Assignments are easily made due to the preassigned job roles on each task in templates. Also, the reporting feature is fantastic. We create reports and dashboards for Team Leads, Requesters, Workers, Executives to show them the data that's meaningful to them.
User experience is a problem for us. Depending on the job someone is doing, using the tool correctly can be confusing. We've had to change the process to stop using issues because users couldnt remember to create the issues on a task level but put them on a project level. These issues were then hidden and timelines not altered by the issue. Users have a hard time with understanding documents on a task...

Workfront has come a LONG way in the last 3 years. If you saw it before and havent looked recently, take another look. The tool is a great place to call your single source of truth. By configuring to your needs, you can make it easy for your people to keep their data up-to-date. While the basics are great, and some extensions are really nice, it provides only rudimentary capability to track business value of the projects. For that, you'll probably need to go offline or create additional custom data elements.
Highly flexible. Easy to navigate. Love the ability to easily provide a customized front end for groups of users via the layout templates. On top of all that, the training and support is excellent!
Limited capability to track planned and actual benefits.

Workfront allows common workflows to be built into templates. As those processes are improved over time, the template can be updated to capture learnings for future projects. Workflow tasks and due dates are clearly assigned to individuals or teams. Predecessors are included based on requirements and past experience. Having templates ensures we are not inventing a new workflow every time a new project is launched.
The software has a learning curve to gain proficiency. I believe the learning curve is getting easier with some recent improvements to support new installations and training. The addition of Fusion should reduce some of the learning / expertise needed to integrate with other software, which will increase value and adoption.

Have actual time for project work has opened our eyes to the fact that we are not great at estimating our work.
It is very feature rich. Time entry is super easy and we are just starting to use the Resource Planning which is very cool thus far! It is clear that Workfront used best in class design for this new module.
It is not well suited to the developers who need to update their information. The cost is very prohibitive for expansion in higher ed. We cannot afford Fusion or to expand our planner licenses to improve adoption across the college.

We have solved the confusion that Excel and email bring to the table as the main tools for managing projects. Email drives me crazy...
I love that Workfront makes every view a report and every task easy to track. We have projects that run from very high number of tasks to low as well as we use both waterfall and agile methodologies. Workfront can support it all - boom!
Text mode for building reports - blah! Not always necessary but when it comes to creating collections, text mode is the only way.

Fantastic experience with Workfront. It added value to every single day of my work, making things easier and more efficient.
If your business makes the effort to really integrate this project the way it should be, it's limitless in its functionality and value. You can do just about anything project management related with Workfront.
It can be overwhelming when first starting to use it. Maybe finding a way to ease people into it a bit better (some kind of training journey), could be useful.

really good system
1. Easy to use 2. Highly customizable 3. Great Reporting capabilities. 4. Good support team. 5. Sandbox feature (you can test the changes before it gets implemented in the production instance) 6. Executing management will get a clear picture if the system properly setup and structured.
1. High Pricing 2. Setup and rollout are time-consuming. Apply proper change management principles if you are replacing a existing system with WorkFront.

I like the ability to build out a schedule for my projects and easily update the dates if the timeline changes. I can easily create reports and dashboards to update users at all levels as to the status of their work.
The cost of the software is somewhat higher than other PM tools, but the features available balance this out. We have also experienced some issues with lost functionality due to upgrades which can be frustrating for users.

We've been using it since 2013, back when it was AtTask. The customer services is great.
I love the reporting. This software allows us to share with leadership our value and how much money we save the company by having an internal design agency. We also report how many projects come in, during what time frame and how many are considered "urgent". It's been a lifesaver for us.
It can be cumbersome at times creating new reports, etc.

Overall I liked it but sometimes it couldn't solve every need if its internal communication within your immediate team. If its used internally for collaborating with different departments then its more useful, especially on projects you are working on together.
This software is great for managing the status and development when assigned a particular task, assignment or project. Especially if the project has multiple contingencies and dependencies to show what is down and how long including the slack line and critical path. Project Managers please pay attention, this can be of immediate value to you for projects that have a huge break down of the separate tasks and the time frame for each. If you are not in project management and still find value in managing your subordinates workload through a high level view then this tool delivers on that front. It can be easy to see where each assignment is at during the duration of the process.
The biggest con is how the software can be setup. In my experience, sometimes its easy to use and more fluid and other times it has multiple extra steps added for all parties involved which increases the time it takes to get anything done and is a real pain to navigate and ensure any updates made to everyone who needs to see it does. Which requires more technical nuances which is highly unnecessary.

Overall, we have gotten a lot of value out of Workfront but we have had to do a lot of customization to get the executive level, rolled up reporting we need. Glad to hear that color selection is coming and the ability to report across objects! Would love to see a time entry license type for users that log in about 50 times a year. Currently pricey.
configurability - very easy to create reports and dashboards
would like more flexibility with layouts of dashboards. right now you have a few to select from but I would like the ability to choose how many reports to show horizontally anywhere in the dashboard vs. the pre-defined templates.

Our ~15 person marketing team has used this software for years and it has worked well for us overall. It's on the expensive side for a non-profit, but we intake quite a bit of work and need a tool to help us stay organized and on the same page with each other. It's easy to assign roles within our team and report back on the project's progress. I'd recommend it to a team that's willing to invest time and energy in a project management tool for the long-term.
I like how the dashboard makes it easy to see the projects I am assigned to work on as well as the deadlines. I can see pending approvals, my to-do list, and stay on track with my work.
I don't like their calendar feature. It doesn't work well and it makes it difficult to view your projects in a monthly timeframe, which is really important for a content team.

The product is always evolving, in a positive way, embracing change where required but maintaining a solid core of visual cues so the users feel comfortable. The vendor is extremely pro-active in reaching out to customers and ensuring satisfaction and performance. The system has allowed us to centralize our project data and drive superior portfolio & resource balancing.
The product does require user adoption in order to shine, and if your adoption rate is low, there is no secret sauce to help you out. The weakest link can lower your reporting quality. To be fair, this is true of almost all systems.
