Great when I first joined, but waiting for some needed developments

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall experience is very good but I find the price jump & no. of clients jump from 20 straight to 50 is very big and actually discourages me from taking on about five more group clients that would put me in the 25 range. I had never considered moving from TrueCoach before but I do find more and more of my friends moving and recommending other softwares that have more of the functionality we need as community becomes so online in the age of Corona. Whether this functionality becomes available on TC may well decide whether it remains worth it for me.

Pros

I love the ease of attaching videos to movements and receiving videos from clients. I also like being able to save workout templates to assign and edit later.

Cons

I wish there were options to be more social between clients on the platform if they wanted to because this can really help with adherence and retention, even for individual training clients. I also wish that the nutrition side offered more detail - ability to see food logs from MyFitnessPal would be huge and let me get rid of an additional software I have to pay for for this.

Leaving in a week for a better platform

Reviewed 2 years ago

Excited at first, and then just dreaded logging in after a few months. I’ve grown as a coach, and the platform has refused to grow at all. In fact, they broke the client app, and still haven’t fixed it. It just makes me sad to think about, now.

Pros

Truecoach is good for a brand new coach with less than 5 clients, that needs to get organized. After that, the platform gets overwhelmed with its own features and poor design.

Cons

The coaching interface is cumbersome. Programming and tweaking is painful and tedious. It’s like they launched the product, and then stopped improving it. There are 3 platforms that are less expensive and do the same thing, now. And, truecoach had the audacity to raise the price with no improvements, and then roll out features to cost their customers more money each month for services that are easily available for less. Truecoach is just trying to trap customers into feeling like all their stuff is on one half-baked platform.

A Must Have for All Fitness Professionals

Reviewed 4 years ago

Using the Truecoach software has been an awesome experience so far. The ease of operation, great price, useful features, and customer service are hard to argue with!

Pros

The Truecoach software's ease of use for both coach and athlete are a game changer. As a business owner, being able to easily create and update programs from my phone while one the go is extremely convenient. Also, my clients love having the ability to watch quick demo videos directly in the app instead of having to google the movement or message me for a reminder.

Cons

Initially, my only concern was the inability to accept payments through the software but that feature was recently added!

Pros

Love the ease in which I can customize programs for my clients. Video editing and voice over is a breeze! Thanks

Cons

Calendars move too fast, one wrong move with my thumb and I'm months away from the week I'm looking at... really a small price to pay for such an excellent product.

Easy to Use and Professional

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall it's been very positive. I would like to try and start learning how to use Excel to save on the cost of this software.

Pros

It is very easy to deliver workouts to all of my clients and they receive daily notifications when they do have a workout in their plan. I don't have to text them individually to make sure to get it done. It's very professional looking and clients love to see the graphs they can create to view their own progress.

Cons

I have 24 clients and I wish I could pay per slot instead of in large groups because I have to pay for six additional slots that I don't use with a 30 person plan

A Phenomenal System for Remote Coaching

Reviewed 2 years ago

overall TrueCoach is the system I have chosen for years and will continue to use, I do check out other systems periodically but non seem to have the smooth finish that they have

Pros

I love the fact that it creates a easy to use and effective system to deliver remote coaching. for myself the majority of my clients are remote and don't have a lot of disposable income. But TrueCoach allows me to work with them easily through the remote delivery, and the price point makes it extremely affordable to use it as a management software for them when building my own would cost significantly more.

Cons

there isn't much to hate about the system, its billed and designed to be an individual design remote coaching software and it does that phenomenally. But I do feel it lacks the ability to easily integrate or deliver mass market programs, ie cookie cutter programs. I would love to see them integrate a subscription service into their system which allows for mass market programs to be delivered using the admin accounts existing exercise library and programs, with an automatic cut off if payment is canceled or doesn't go through.

Review of TrueCoach

Reviewed 5 years ago

Apart from just making my job easier, TrueCoach for sure adds value both in selling a client but client retention. I am not really competing with another coach, I am competing with Netflix, Pelaton, and other visually appealing and ease of use mediums by which someone can easily get a workout for the 10th of what I charge.

Pros

All Clients in one place Easily write workouts and have circuits distinct from one another visibly Ability to comment on each section Upload videos to each workout

Cons

I would like a video database. Say over a year a client uploads 50-100 videos. Instead of having to find them or download each one it would be great to just have a client video database, where I can see all the videos, and each also has a link that takes me to the workout it represents. I want an app for the coach for writing workouts on the go. Fortunately, I live a very boring life and am always home so I can typically respond to a client, change a workout on the fly, etc. However on the rare occasion, I go out, and a client needs something changed or just wants a workout that day, an app for the coach would make this much easier obviously.

Pros

Added video for movements. Free app download for clients Ability to build out programs and assign entire program to client. Movement video library Warm up and Cool down library

Cons

No built in timer to assign a client an amrap or tabata or emom. Added cost / clients, would prefer just a straight monthly fee as clients go up and down.

TrueCoach Software Review

Reviewed 2 years ago

I just wanted to note that I own the company but do have two trainers that work with me. There was no option for independent contractors under the drop down menu in the previous section when asking about company size only "employees" and since they are not employees I chose myself as the answer for how many are in the company but there are two other individuals that train with me as independent contractors.

Pros

The customization of everything! I have used Trainerize in the past and I thought it was a little bit more on the playful/less serious side of training and that was not suited for me. I want the best software for my clients with the ability deliver a professional-level service. TrueCoach allows me to customize anything and everything that I need for my programming in the easiest way.

Cons

There is no option to charge for individual personal training sessions. I want to be able to customize all of my pricing for my clients and do invoicing through TrueCoach as a one-stop shop for my invoice and I can not do that right now with the current product/payment options. I talked with customer service and it looked like there was a way to do it if I would set up a recurring weekly plan and...

Best Bang For The Buck Programming System

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall I've had a good experience with TrueCoach. The clientele tiers are sometimes a pain to deal with, but it's really pretty minor. It's streamlined my online offerings, made my services way more professional, and has helped me save time and money. All things small business owners love to do.

Pros

I love the ability to make warm ups, cool downs, and customize the exercise index to my liking with as much or as little detail that I need to have. There is no limit to your coaching cues, sets, reps, rest, tempo, or any other training variable. Most competitive products pigeon hole you into particular programming variables.

Cons

I wish I had the ability to sell programs through the system. A competitor to True Coach does this, and from experience it's a great way to not only up-sell clients, but also when people need to terminate from pricing issues, it would be a way to offer a comparable service and a lower price point.

Great Interface but...

Reviewed 2 years ago

All of my clients are individuals. I do zero group training. At first TrueCoach was great, but the more clients I get on the platform the more issues I have. Customer Service has been great at responding but only responding. Unfortunately problem resolution has been non-existent. And now TC has just increased the monthly cost. Unless something changes I am planning to migrate my clients over to a new platform, probably TrainHeroic.

Pros

The best thing about TrueCoach is that the client-side interface is very simple and easy to use. From the coaching side it's also very simple to onboard a new client. The next best thing is its integration with MyFitnessPal.

Cons

1. There is no simple daily body weight reading input. You have to create a "metric" for daily body weight as a workaround. 2. The coaching apps have zero functionality besides allowing you to view activity and send messages. Any program changes or assignments need to be done from a web browser. The android coach app just doesn't work. I get zero notifications. On some clients trying to view...

Truecoach Review

It has served it's purpose but it feels like you guys are focused more on expansion than improving the product for exciting users.

Pros

It is light and quick - easy to navigate. It is quick to program.

Cons

I don't like that you can't easily save individual workouts to drag and drop or load into the calendar. I don't find the programs feature useful. I need to copy and paste in two different tabs and can't see my workouts when programming. Not very functional for coaches. I don't like that there is no progression feature and that you need to type in text for sets and steps. It leads to too many user errors. I don't like that you guys are adding features like payments instead of fixing these use issues. I don't have confidence that you are working on them or see the need. I also do not like that the price doubles from 20 clients to 21. That does not make sense and is not friendly for mid-tier coaches with a moderate workload.

Movement Coach In-Person and Virtual

Reviewed 8 months ago

My peak coaching career began right before the pandemic in 2020. Having TrueCoach was the perfect tool to keep the momentum going and my clients committed as they had the flexibility of online coaching both with video or just the training plan - as TrueCoach provides all that we need with the training plan calendar layout, note tracking, communication, and exercise library/video sharing. This provided an access approach to training that allowed our clients to stay on-track despite the uncertain times.

Pros

The exercise library - as a personal trainer a part of a team - we value collaboration. This feature allows for us coaches to be able to share new exercises that supports an area of growth that one or more of our clients face such as lower back pain, hip pain, foot pain etc.Being able to track the overall stats such as particular goals reached and when, as well as organizing key metrics allows for a great end-of-year summary that both celebrates the client's achievements, and provides ample momentum for the upcoming year's round of goal setting.

Cons

A great sign for us coaches is when our TrueCoach account tells us we don't have enough space, because we are full to the brim with clients! This is a sign that our overall methodology is a success. However, of course, when it comes to TrueCoach, the one thing I like least are the client profile capacity limitations.

Good buy spreadsheets hello more time coaching

Reviewed 2 years ago

I've been a user of Truecoach from its infancy with it was The Fitbot and have seen nothing but added value to me and my clients as a fitness coach. They are always keeping us up to date with a weekly email to help grow our business and serve us as coaches.

Pros

I enjoy the fact that they continue to develop and keep us coaches in the loop as to what is going on with the product. It is super easy to use on both sides of the coin, for the clients and the coaches. You can also chat with clients through the app.

Cons

I would say the feature i like the least is the inability for it to coach the clients for me lol.

Solid App

Reviewed 2 years ago

I've used other apps similar to this, but true coach really just made it a lot easier and a lot more streamlined. Essentially saving me time, and time is money.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use on my end as well as on my clients end, as well as a lot of the features like tracking measurements, photos, and being able to connect to my fitness pal. It's easy to write programs, as I don't need to type the exact exercise in the search bar. It uses more keywords, which is very convenient and very nice.

Cons

Sometimes I feel like it's kind of pricey, the initial price of 50 bucks isn't too bad from 0 to 20 clients, but then I pretty much doubles once you get 21 clients. This is fine, and I understand it, it's more that I personally usually flow around 25 clients and for those additional five clients I paid more than double what I initially paid. Although, I feel like there's enough in value and it really streamlines my work that the extra costs don't matter.

TrueCoach is the best programming software for coaches and trainers

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

TrueCoach is a medium for translating value to my clients, monitoring their success and progress, and creating a consistent service.

Cons

No contracts, no checking people into time slots in the gym, no scheduling system. The feature rollout has plateaued. It feels like TrueCoach is built and other companies will pass it in terms of the value prop. People are primarily on TrueCoach due to first mover advantage but will it stay that way?

If you're a coach, you need this software

Reviewed 4 years ago

I've been a customer for a LONG time and the TrueCoach team continues to innovate the app without packing it with a bunch of bloated features we really don't need.

Pros

TrueCoach helps streamline the coaching, programming, and communication required to provide a high quality experience to my athletes. It's easy to use and the value (cost) is incredible for what you get and what you can then provide to your clients.

Cons

Only downside is I wish I could create programs for people who don't want/require one-on-one coaching and interaction.

Online Trainer that Scaled

Reviewed 5 years ago

positive all the way!!! the negatives aren't really negatives because every coach is different. they thought of everything and I KNOW how expensive software is to build. Good job team

Pros

There's a LOT- the features like copy, paste and programming- I am able to load programs, tweak per client and save time. NO SPREADSHEETS!!!! no back and forth email communication. There's places to track lifts and the exercise history is awesome as well. money is - a GREAT DEAL for what you get!!!! I love how you can add coaches. honestly- I am VERY thankful for TC! thank you thank you!

Cons

you can attach your third party nutrition app- The diet side of things only allows you to put directions and macros- I use a software system so my clients have to log out of TC and go to my diet software which is ok. I wish they had a way to build % into workouts like, week 1 is 60% of their max- week 2 is 70% and it pre calculates based on what you have written down as their max. and one last - for progress pictures- if it could put them in a side by side and or tell you how much fat was lost or muscle gained per their body comp. I also add check in's- metrics allows me to do that but it's not very user friendly

A must for any personal trainer

Reviewed 7 years ago

I went from only having influence on my clients' training the 1-2 days/week I would see them, to being able to impact their entire week. My clients have seen this as a value bump, which has led to an increase in retention rate.

Pros

There's an extensive exercise library, but I can also easily add my own OR change the name of a video that's already included. It's super simple to build workouts, track progress, and they keep adding great features to improve efficiency.

Cons

They're constantly improving so this could very well be taken care of by the time I finish writing the review, but I think the Nutrition feature leaves something to be desired from the coaching side of things. I think it would be cool if they built in some sort of macro-calculator, rather than having to do it through a third-party app and transfer over. Not that the latter is too hard to do, but I think if FitBot wants to be a one-stop shop for online coaches, then a macro-calculator is the last missing piece.
