Not great. I am actively looking for a better POS. This company is too new and has a lot of kinks to workout. They claim to be designed by restaurant workers, and that just can't be the case.
What is there to like that other POS don't have? Nothing. At least one other POS has the "features" that UpServe claims to have.
There are many aspects of the system that need to be expanded upon. During the past few months there have been many challenges. There was a period that gift cards were not even redeemable while making online orders. Currently you can not pick and choose which online items you want to accept preorders for. Modifiers are a hot mess. It is not as advanced or user friendly as Focus or other POS systems....

I've had Breadcrumb for 3 years now at my restaurant. The first two years it was adequate, easy to use and more or less stable in spite of a few server outages here and there. However, the back-end was pretty cumbersome, full of dead ends and potholes that could easily be fixed with a tiny bit of coding. For instance, if you want to edit a menu item, but while editing you choose to add the item to...
Simple, easy to set up Clear POS layout
Bad server uptime Inconsiderate management of maintenance schedules such as software upgrades Limited front end and back end features

An overall well functioning POS system
Ease of use, fast data loading, export of data, product mix reports, sales reports, payroll functionality
Duplicate accounts created when importing daily sales ledger into QuickBooks, data loading sometimes defaults back to "All" when selecting items or roles, system sometimes crashes on rare occasions

It is great, particularly the Customer Service has been the best I have dealt with in 25 year in the business
I think that the integration of POS and Inventory is great and helps in a big way during monthly inventory.
Would like to see two way syncing between the Inventory and POS

Intuitive and user friendly design that is reliable.
We were hoping that the portable POS would not just be shrunken down versions of the normal POS. Some of the charging ports and charging ports have needed to be replace more frequently than we thought they would.

A positive experience and relationship with Upserve. Good customer service when aid is required and it enables constant access to my business.
Instant remote access to business transactions. Intuitive design and flow of POS. Transportable.
Poor internet connection can impede progress.
Hi there Brandon, Thank you for being a part of the Upserve family - we're happy to have ya! A poor internet connection can definitely be an issue to our customers, and we hope that our offline mode is helpful during those times. We also recently released our Android-based Upserve POS which you can now hardwire so your connection is as strong as possible. Don't hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager to learn more about the new hardware if you're interested. Cheers, The Upserve Team

The backend of the POS system is user friendly and has great accessibility.
Editing the time cards. Along with certain little quirks of adding certain categories to the correct account.

Just a very friendly POS system, but lack some accounting reports.
Very fast in the front of the house operation and really easy to use. Easy to manage and take reports.
Not so good in the accounting report, but they are work with us to improve all the points we have problem nowadays.

Overall, my experience with Upserve POS has been seamlessly a great one.
The PEARL is a bar. We don't sell food yet. The software makes it fairly easy to set up new menu items and categories. I love the useful reports that you can make, like find top 100 customers; which beer we sold the most on any one night. And customer support is excellent. By far, I'd say that the customer support is the best ever.
The only thing I can think of is that we have Happy Hour prices and then regular prices. When I want to try to keep tract of inventory of a beer, I might put in that we have 24 or 48 beers of a certain brand. When they are sold the two categories of say Bud Light and HH Bud Light do not merge as they count down. So, using it for inventory is not working for me.

Ease of Use. Classic POS setup, but best for a smaller operation. Modifying / Open Food Items / Adding menu items / updating menus can be quite tedious. A daily checkout report and the ability for my accountant to have direct access to the POS system is nice.
Business practices. Take it or leave it attitude. Practices that practically force you to use their credit card processing. Works out to a month extra hidden fees to use your own credit card processor. The outrageous monthly expense to add Grubhub/Seamless. The outrageous monthly expense for them to hold your data after you leave them. It's almost better for them to not have a customer and just collect fees a month.

This is one of the most user-friendly pos systems I’ve used in my 10 year experience.
The fact that it is ran off of WiFi is a double-edged sword. While you are able to run it quickly and efficiently, if your WiFi goes down, the system cannot speak to devices nor can it run a credit card until your internet is back up. I also do not like that it does not have a credit card cache system (where you can swipe the card and it holds the information until needing to be closed out).

Ease of use > unlike a lot of POS systems, it has everything you need, and nothing you don't.
For a while, you could not split single items on a check. And it is slightly cumbersome to remove tax from a check.
Hi there Daniel - Thank you for your feedback! We strive to make the use of our product as simple as possible, while still providing all the in-depth functionality you need to run a successful restaurant. Cheers!

One of the better systems on the market
Breadcrumb is very user friendly POS system with high level of functionality. A constantly evolving cloud based system.
Being stuck to the Ipad limits some costs involved with adopting the system. The features that are lacking still have a strong chance of being developed.

Overall good. I'd like to be able to assign inventory counts to multiple items within the POS. For example, if I have 4 steaks left, and it's used on two different menu items- there's no way to keep track of the count simultaneously. It's an issue that's most pronounced when you're doing things like offering specials or prix fixe. Networking issues are common both in house and communicating with Upserve servers. Fortunately their offline mode has improved.
Intuitive use interface Responsive Increasing number of third party integrated services Useful analytics tools
Network reliability is inconsistent Unable to share inventory counts between multiple menu items Extra POS ipads cost more money

Across the board the best pos on the market. Customer service, trouble shooting, programming, ease of use. Everything.
The only card swiper option available is quite cheaply made and typically only lasts us 3-6 months tops. When it won’t read a card and we have to manually enter, the manual entry screen is sluggish and has always been. This is my only complaint.
Hi there Zach - thank you for your review. We're happy to hear that your experience with Upserve has been a positive one. I'll relay this information to our Product team about the swipers. As you know, we have a 1-year warranty on all our hardware, so don't hesitate to reach out to our Support team for a replacement. Thanks again, Zach!

It's a very easy system to navigate, but if anything is found to be confusing customer service is helpful and prompt.
Hands down the most user friendly POS out there! The search bar is by far my most favorite feature.
The wireless connection. If the power goes out or if we simply lose signal, we are dead in the water.
Hi there Bradley! Thanks again for your feedback. We're happy to hear you're enjoying Upserve. We completely understand that losing signal for our customers is a big issue, so we built out offline mode to help combat this. We also recently released our Android-based Upesrve POS, which you now have the ability to hardwire so that losing connection isn't as frequent. Don't hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager to learn more about both features if you're interested. Cheers, The Upserve Team

Easy to use, almost zero training, and the reporting is great. The mobility options are fantastic, you can unplug them and use them in any spot in your establishment.
Like any other POS, there are certain things you wish it could do. The inability not to have sub items hurts.

The Upserve POS system serves our yoga studio in-house cafe and events department needs very well.
The formerly Breadcrumb, now Upserve POS is an easy to use system that has numerous settings lending to our multi-area/multi offerings for varied menu items and there are a number of very comprehensive reports available. The software's integration with our restaurant's iPads and kitchen printer works seamlessly.
Have experienced nothing negative with this system, to date.

Upserve pos is helping us to run an effective business with a system that implements both front fo the house as well as back of the house.
What I like most scout this software is the ease of use. Anyone can catch on rather quickly. It’s pretty self explanatory.
What I like least about upserve pos is how vague the reports are. The reports are also pretty slow when running them.

Upserve is a solid choice for restaurants. Lots of features and functionality. Unlike a lot of POS systems, I like the versatility and ability to manage the floor plan and some front of house features. They have some good online resources for teaching staff and overall I enjoyed using the product compared to other restaurant POS systems.
Initially setting up menus was a little tedious for me but overall I still really like the system. Lots of functionality. Seems like a good option for all sizes of restaurants.
Hi there Jeff! Thank you for your feedback, and we're happy to hear that your experience with Upserve so far has been positive. We try to make the functionality for building menus as easy as possible. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Support team or your Customer Success Manager to walk you through any of that menu building. We're always here to help! Cheers, The Upserve Team

Quick, efficient, generally reliable.
Offers most of the flexibility and capabilities of other pos with the addition of a far superior UI and in my opinion superior UX
Still catching up in some small respects like perfecting single item splits across multiple checks.

From back office functionality to ease of training to customer service my experience with Upserve is rivaled by no other POS system.
The fact that a new-hire can be fully versed in the software within 2 training shifts is impeccable.
I do no like that the table view shows all open tables and not tables assigned only to the person logged in.
