Pros

On-line reporting, not difficult to figure out

Cons

Fine. Cake continues to upgrade. Has many capabilities I currently I am not using but plan on trying out.

Great product! Great support!

Good inventory control for ordering etc.

Pros

If you call and ask for a certain report or configuration they will either help you get it or file a change notice to update the software at the next upgrade if possible.

Cons

Only one option for credit card processing. reports are not available on the pos system. Only on the back office system.

Poor Customer Support and Upgrades

They say they are all about customer service and this could not be further from the truth especially with upper levels of management. The engineering and customer service communications is horrible.

Pros

Easy to use for the most part.

Cons

They do not offer any loyalty programs through their system and only punch card type of discounts.

Updates keep getting better, making this system better each time. Able to access data directly through a terminal or on-line.

Cons

For example, inability to re-activate a seasonal employee; inability to pull sales reports by day-part.

Do Not Consider this Software

Customer Service staff is friendly, but, they do not follow up, they like to debate, management is horrible - Again full of promises - No follow up - Please look elsewhere for your POS needs.

Pros

Easy to add or remove items from the server screens.

Cons

Many options that should be available are not, such as easy check splitting or putting checks back together, they have a horrible guest loyalty. Servers cannot see just their tips, gift cards are very difficult to track, font size for the customer is hard to read, cash drawers are something you could buy from a toy store with better quality and the list goes on.

We have been using CAKE for over a year and a half and we love it.

By having CAKE we are able to use 7shifts for a discounted price.

Pros

I would say that the best thing about CAKE is that we have the ability to edit our POS system, pricing, item names, you name it from in house.

Cons

I do wish that I had more ability with the online ordering where I could edit an order when it comes to the POS. Sometimes customers request things and the proper up charges arent added.

Best POS software on the market

For allocating costs, to tracking labor and other cost percentages, to tracking payroll, inventory, and sales by item, this tool is a restaurant managers dream.

Pros

It allows to me edit my menu, check my labor costs at any part of the day, calculate food cost, percentages, track my best selling dishes, it is an all and 1 absolute game changer for the restaurant industry.

Cons

The only thing that stops this from being a five star product is that you can only get it being attached to Sysco, which comes with price gouging, inconsistent deliveries, and poor customer service/

We are very happy with CAKE, it saves me time bookkeeping, helps with inventory and is easy for our employees.

Pros

The thing that I like the most is being able to connect to the POS with my computer or phone.

Cons

There are only a few features that we would change such as, if you set hours for happy hour, after it is over, items cannot be cashed out if they are already on an open order so you would have to have everyone pay as you go or cash out before a certain time.

Hands down this is the best POS system we have used in our restaurant.

The biggest accomplishment was to be able to remotely handle employee issues.

That when an employee is terminated from the system, there is no way to get their information back.

A promising work in progress

Cake is a perfectly adequate system that has served our needs but as we grow we feel like we need to search for a more robust system with all of the features that we need. Customer service has always been responsive, even if to tell us that the features we requested aren't available.

Pros

Online ordering has been fairly easy to implement and has all of the BASIC functions you need.

Cons

You don't realize how important this is until you don't have it on a POS system. There is still no way to offer discounts or accept gift cards online either.

It is really easy to navigate through and even servers who have never used cake before need very little or no training to use.

Pros

The POS System is very easily navigated by the employees and the search bar to find items.

Cons

The reports are difficult to navigate through. The sales numbers would be more helpful if you can eliminate certain items and you can get a years worth of sales to look at.

Not ready for Prime Time. Crashes when you need it most.

I can't think of anything this POS does better than the one we replaced.

Pros

Order Pads should allow servers to spend more time on the floor Inexpensive POS System.

Cons

Orders get lost during entry causing double work to recover the in flight order, after printing in the kitchen causing them not to be charged on the customer's bill, and customer credit cards have been double billed as a result of Order Pad disconnects.

CAKE has saved me so much time!

CAKE allows me to tie all of my business aspects together. My inventory, ordering, and sales and being tied into one program which saves me time and money.

Pros

I have an open line with my rep and any need we come across CAKE does their best to change the programming to fit my needs!

Cons

Cons are minimal. Glitches seem to be very rare and when they do happen they are fixed promptly.

Great system that "decomplicates" the POS process
