I really enjoy the ease of use with the program.
My favorite feature about this software is the profitability worksheet. It clearly shows me what I set me goals to be and if we meet them.
The part I liked least is not being able to change the Invoice date. It is needed randomly and would be a useful feature.

It actually ruins parts of my day, every day , try having a customer standing in front of you waiting for 3 estimates. I go to O'Reilly's website and look up the parts faster and type them into the Napa Tracs estimate or I would be here all day....
This category is asking for 40 words on what I like. I don't have 40 words. I have been in the automotive repair business for many years. there is nothing about this software that works for this business. Why fix what wasn't broken.
Work orders not easy to access, parts look up is way too complicated !!! I worked for Napa for 10 years so how to, and part numbers are not a problem for me. Takes the fast pace out of a a fast paced shop, the parts availability is like looking for gold, time consuming. Go look at O Reilly's website, please Simple, informative. The old Tracs had its flaws, but was very workable( daily I deal with at least 10 invoices a day.). . click on an invoice and go. Now you spend literally 3 minutes trying to get the invoice to alphabetize. Just to open it.

I've been using Tracs for over 15 years, it's been great. The newest iteration, Enterprise, is great!
Simple, easy to use. Great integrated labor and parts ordering. Great reporting once you know how to use it.
System settings menus aren't organized very intuitive. Reporting is great but has a learning curve.

The ease of writing and updating work orders is fantastic. I like that you can do everything from writing purchase orders to checking history and updating recommended service from one screen. I also like being able to program it for a "check and balance" reminder so a ticket can't be invoiced without a PO being received or without a customer group and cause of failure being entered. It is nice to also limit access for different employee groups so that for example a technician in the shop looking up parts can't unlock or change an invoice. In our company with multiple locations, it will also allow us to link into or change shops for customer and vehicle information.
The system has a way of changing edited items back on its own. There isn't anything more frustrating than to quote a customer an estimate, only to find that when you originally had two parts on the estimate ( such as two rotors ), the system had changed it back to a quantity of one. The same thing occurs if you edit a price, it automatically changes back....frustrating if you don't realize before you invoice.
Carolyn, I am going to have support contact you. There is no reason for a saved Work Order to have a part or price changed.

i really like the system but will unfortunately have to change i feel that if i had a stationary shop location and wasnt on the road contantly that it would be a great system. i use the enterprise version and actually like i stated love it but will have to change so i can adapt and grow my business for the future i will probably return in the future once i have a shop location and am not going back and forth between devices as much
I love napa Tracs but as a mobile automotive repair business I have found certain limitations it has to be hooked to a laptop for invoicing estimates. unfortunately I will have to be looking for a more mobile option if possible . i like the ability to send and invoice work orders estimates and invoices on the fly with ease of access being able to access mitchell one for my diagnostics and being able...
i wish tracs would do a better job of integrating the parts into the work order but in order to do that you have to actually order the parts instead you spend a lot of time copying and pasting part numbers and information from the pro link screen to the work orders and also the way i use it is considering i dont always make the sales cause some customers buy and dont buy i use an item i have made...

Overall I’m really happy with Napa Tracs
Overall I feel that tracks is a easy system to learn and operate. A lot of the new features in Enterprise make things easy. But there are some areas that could use some improvement.
Hard to reconcile invoices, would be nice if you could use the escape button like you used to be able to to exit out of something. Would love to be able to customize the color system used to flag things like customers waiting etc.. I really like the new scheduler except when I make appointments for existing customers I am not able to change their information like telephone number or if they’ve gotten a new vehicle I can’t add or delete a vehicle from the scheduler page would be nice to be able to do that all in one step

We have used TRACS since it was DOS based. We have seen a lot of bad features come and go, as well as the good. It is easy to use for the most part but can be a little daunting for a service writer in a hurry.
Inventory management is very useful and easy to use. We love that Repair Link and ProDemand links are now part of the screen. Being able to undo an invoice is a great add as well. Calling TRACS Support is always a great experience. Some of them even call back to make sure you're getting along ok!
Repair orders and invoicing needs a lot of work. If you have more than five items in your repair order, good luck maneuvering around. Switching over to the profitability screen or technician screen gives you a much easier view. However, they have taken away the ability to drag items around in these screens. There are also way too many columns in each of these two screens. Please bring back spell check!

It does basic functions well. Advanced features are difficult to find and hard to implement. I honestly believe the program could do just about anything you wanted to, but you would never find out because it's not user friendly. So, we just use it for invoicing and recordkeeping
It does what it NEEDS to do for us. Generates invoices and tracks customer history. That's why we have it, that's what it does
I know the system has many features we do access. This program is "report generating machine"!!! However, I don't want or need 98% of them. And initial training will NEVER cover all the features Tracs has. One must learn by trial and error (with a lot of error sometimes)

Tracs has been a great assett to our business, allowing us to easily quote and sell jobs, as well as order parts and track inventory.
Tracs is very helpful when it comes to recommending and selling products and services in the automotive industry. I feel one of its best features is the ability to write several estimates under one ticket using the sub estimate feature. This makes it very flexable to show the customer multiple options with several different repairs and options.
While not a major issue, the thing I like least about using Tracs is having to back up the system every day. Not requiring all users to be logged out before backing up is a major improvement.
Hi John, glad you liked the upgrade to the back up process. In our Enterprise platform, NO ONE has to log out during a back up, and back ups can be set to automatically happen multiple times a day.

So far its pretty good I would recommend it. It has a few glitches as does everything but overall It does what I need it to do and I keep finding new stuff the more I investigate so by next year I will know even more about it.
Tracs is generally a easy program to use for beginners and does everything you need in a business to keep customers and production in the office moving along.
I liked the old way to look up parts, before we switched to enterprise. It was a better system for me and it had a little more information I felt. I also don't like how every time I order something it erases anything I have wrote in my work order where the part listing is. I like to label my parts and it erases any labels I add.

This software allows me to communicate with my customers easier, and allows me to keep track of how profitable and effective I am with using this tool. It also allows me to send emails to customers for authorization as well. Just getting up to speed on the current function but intrigued for the new upgrades.
The ease that allows me to order parts from my primary vendors quickly without making a call which would delay my day. Upgrading from what was in Legacy version to the newer Enterprise version is one of the best things to occur. No longer lip service actual live information.
Currently working to update the calendar to work smoother. A cleaner interaction when ordering parts and having to adjust the PO is a concern. If there isn't a data import taking place then there will be an adjustment process on getting used to adding in customers, unless you have office assistant to help.

The "Windows" format is very nice. Has most of the features we need. Integration was simple as we were not using a shop management program prior to purchase.
Spell check is dismal at best. No way of adding "industry" related words to the dictionary. IE: Hyd. for hydraulic oil. The older version allowed this but the Legacy version does not. The most frustrating MISSING feature is a "predictive" search feature for searching parts (Items). It should auto populate as you start to search. Same thing applies to the customer look up. If you don't type in the customer name EXACTLY as it is in the system it will not pull up.

easy to use
Ease of use. Access to reports and Ease of export for accounting purposes. Support is quick to help and repair problems, easy to contact with minimum wait times.
access to connect to other suppliers easily - Can't wait for the update, and love that Worldpac is already accessible in my system, now need O'reilly's and some other small independents if possible. Final Invoice printing options - I like the Look of the new system with their add-on's for job printing and breaking the Invoice up to be easier to read for the customer. Color break outs, Personalized Logos, and Jobs printed together would complete an already awesome system.

Overall experience has been very good. We have used TRACS since the early 2000's.
We like the ease of use with Napa TRACS and the reporting features and reports are helpful in looking at numbers.
There are a few little things I would like changed but understand that the company has to go with what the majority use. I would like to see easier payment entry when entering fleet payments and full options for payments on the invoice screen.

over all I do like tracs and plan to continue using it however I do feel that the program could be improved if some of the bugs were worked out of it
I do like that tracs lets me move in and out of Mitchel as well as prolink for parts ordering we also integrate it with autovitals
tracs uses A LOT of power to run this makes the program slow and glitchy esp. when intergrading it with autovitals witch also uses a lot of power the software is prone to locking up and sometimes is very sensitive where you click at on the screen

For the most part, the program isn't too bad. It is relatively user friendly. In the "Cons" block is a list of issues that were noticed and some ideas that could make the system more user friendly.
The Schedule is easy to use. Ordering parts is very easy. ROs are clean and easy to read.
Shows another workstation in WO when they are not Unable to edit Part number Shows zero communication to order (1 on RO, 0 on PO; none in stock) If unsaved "New" RO is Open, will Default to that one when trying to start another New RO Anytime a RO is started, it should generate an appointment block Under "Appointments" tab, allow limiting to a single day. Receive all open PO’s at once Can’t drag...

We are a growing company and Tracs has helped us with our growing pains. We've been using Tracs for just over 3 years and there are many features we haven't utilized yet, but are looking forward to using. One of my favorite features is the subestimate. You can create as many as you need under one work order and using ProDemand estimating makes it easy for even office staff to create estimates.
When you accept partial payment on an invoice, it prints the payment type and amount on the invoice, but it also prints PAID in bold letters next to the total. There is no balance printed. There is no ability to apply bulk payments to individual invoices without going into each invoice and accepting payment. Also, I wish there was something in the Customer Account Summary that indicated which invoices were paid and which are outstanding. The statement seems to only apply it to the oldest invoice, even if you apply it within the invoice instead a bulk payment. RepairLink doesn't support Heavy Duty through Tracs.

The base program is great-lots of changes from legacy to enterprise-some good some not-many useful features from legacy not in enterprise-NAPA doesn't seem to be interested in suggestions from users-would recommend test driving before buying
works pretty good to do daily repair orders-has some very nice features to run my business-help desk has some of the best people ever-they know the product-usually get things done properly and quickly so you can carry on
For over 8 years I have been promised that "soon Tracs will allow industry wide ordering that works well" Not true! Unless you order 99% of your parts from NAPA you will not be happy. Every time I contact Tracs to find out when there will be a fix I'm given another excuse-in their defense I am using the software at no charge right now but I would much rather pay them and have the product they promised to deliver.

Still plugging along with this hoping things will improve. The platform has the potential to be the best in the industry but needs a ton of cleanup in the code, improvement with the integrations and frankly, the price point is exorbitant for something with as many issues.
Overall a great shop management tool. Full featured and handles most all aspects of your shop from estimate through invoice along with history and accounting reports.
The code that drives the software is very klunky. It's so heavy to run that the best computer you can buy off the shelf at your local electronics supplier will struggle to keep up. Be prepared to invest in a computer that is WAY above average in both processor power and ram. Otherwise you'll be restarting your Napa Tracs several times a day to release the memory the software has bogged everything...

The things we like are the ability to make estimates that are complete and ready to turn into repair orders that are already finished when the car arrives. All aspects of the work order are modifiable at any time. Notes are easy to apply and sub estimates stay in history. It is easy to export to Quick Books. The support team has been able to keep us up and running. Our rep. is great! he is there for us when we want to take Tracs to the next step, or if we have a crisis. (such as a computer crash Friday night and a new set up on Sunday)
It would be nice if you could open multiple windows or history RO's over top of each other for clip board pasting or searching history. would be nice to look at history RO's and be able to open the parts items and see where they were purchased. Would be nice if Pro link would not close until you closed it while working on a repair order. Would be nice if the labor estimator had a more detailed menu (more choices)
Hi Rick, We are currently working on a version that will allow you to have multiple windows open at once. This upgrade will be made avaialbe to all current users by end of Q3 2018. The Labor guide in NAPA TRACS is a direct interface to Mitchell PRODemand Labor. HINT! Use a Wild Card to narrow your search. Type WAT* for Water Pump and you will see where that labor is. You are one click away from there! M1 is working on type ahead functionality in the labor section. Will make it easier for the customer to get where they wan to go.
