Overall it was one of the best POSS systems I used.
Easy to teach and edit POS that is specific to the restaurant industry.
I would have liked to seen it have an employee schedule system integrated into the POS. Not just a simple time clock.

Toast POS work fine with my restaurant and the price is reasonable, I think it easy to use when you use it a lot
there is no continuous support, and the user interface is old, and it requires training at the beginning. i think they can do a lot more on user interface and user experience design

Toast hits home runs on almost all aspects of a restaurant POS but the issues with being able to process payments with any reliability is unacceptable.
Integrations, ease of use, flexibility of what parts you wish to use, interest in feedback, hardware is amazing.
Support is outsourced and often unknowledgeable about problems.

Toast is a full-service POS that works for our three very different restaurant concepts, including a high volume bar, a deli counter and market, and a fine dining, multi-course dining establishment.
Toast seems to be the most put-together of the next wave restaurant POS. They offer a few styles of terminals for greater flexibility in the unique spaces that are restaurants. Toast also will take feature-requests, something the older generation of products seems to have stopped doing.
The ability to pull up custom reports and analyses are their weakest feature. Toast can also have very occasional connectivity issues which is scary in a restaurant setting.

Toast is a great POS for our restaurant. I have found it to be much more easy to use than our previous system. It's great that we can make changes to our menu from outside computers and have access to the entire system from out of the restaurant. It's great that I can update my menu and make adds and changes without being at work.
I find that at times, the system can lag and can occasionally shut itself down. This causes trouble when it happens in the middle of a guest order. Other than that, the system is great.

We recently opened a BBQ restaurant and Toast made it easier for our waitresses learn how to use the POS system. They helped us by coming and being there when we did a soft and our hard opening. If there was a problem or question they were right there to answer it. Tech support has responded quickly as well. Great POS system to look into

We use this software in A fast-paced restaurant environment. It is great to be able to take the tablets to the tables and get orders on the go no more running back-and-forth no more paper . It is easy to program and reprogram on the go with the quick edit feature. Every restaurant should have the ability to provide the high service standard thus pos provides.
Ease of use, quick editing.
When the network goes down between tablets.

We use Toast as our jazz club and every single employee absolutely adores the system if they have any experience with another point of sale systems. It is much more professional than a system such as square in my opinions and seems like a wonderful middle-ground between an industry standard like Aloha and a more intuitive and user-oriented solution like clover.
User Interface is absolutely gorgeous So much more intuitive than other systems (seems like it was designed by me) Very fast transaction and screen speed easy to add things to menu/change prices Works very well so any sized restaurant makes splitting checks way easier that most POS systems
Receipt printer that we got from Toast could have been a little nicer. Was very light and moves around a lot.

For simple issues, their customer service answers immediately. For major issues, they have to escalate it and it can take days to solve problems. This isn’t our first major issue, and every time it takes a while to get it fixed. If you have a restaurant that does decent volume, I would suggest getting a more dependable POS with a customer service that can actually help and not just provide lip service.
The software is great when it works. But it isn’t dependable.
The customer service is terrible. Our POS stopped working and the tech support is terrible. Our restaurant was done, and so the customer service escalated it. It took a while to get a call back, and overall, it took a week to get it fixed. For some reason, they needed us to buy a whole new POS computer. This company is terrible to work with and we’ll be switching to Square in the future.

Toast is a super easy POS system to navigate. The restaurant I work at just all of a sudden switched over from Micros to Toast, and everyone seems to love Toast. There have been a few glitches here and there, but each issue was resolved. Customer service was always more than willing to help. My coworkers and I quickly caught on to this POS system, and no one misses Micros at all.
Toast offers training through their website, which is something I took advantage of for sure. We all had to quickly learn Toast, and the online training through Toast University was amazing. It made learning the system very easy and quick to pick up.
Honestly there hasn't been anything negative so far that I have experienced. However I'm just a user, not the administrators. Their answers might not be the same, but I think for the most part everyone appreciates how simple Toast is.

Peace of mind, modern and easy to use especially with staff who is accustomed to cloud based software.
I enjoy the easy access without fussiness, it allows for customizable features that work for our restaurant, it makes updating menu items/labor simple instead of a headache that it was on other POS systems. I think the ease of functionality lies in their cloud based system that allows you to run credit cards even when offline.
There are some sluggish features within the software, however Toast happily accepts feature requests and has fulfilled a few of mine!

My restaurant had a Micros POS system for over 12 years. When we expanded and renovated, we had to expand our system. Micros was too expensive and we began to look for alternatives. We chose Toast after looking at many options and it was a great choice. Restaurant specific so they understand what restaurants need. Very intuitive and with all information in the cloud, easy to change items, prices anytime and get real time reports. Great support, too. Highly recommended.
Easy to add, change or delete items. Great for getting real time sales reports as well as items sold in real time. Always updating as more users offer feedback.

Overall Toast is the future of the POS game. As evidenced by its recent fundraises, Toast is anticipated to take over the market. It may take a bit of time for larger, older organizations to adopt the technology given the amount of time they have input into older systems, but it's only a matter of time before the switches happen.
Toast is a phenomenal POS system that blows the legacy players such as Aloha and Micros out of the water. Toast is very easy to set up, manipulate on the fly, and track relevant data. The handheld devices allow for a more streamlined ordering system, shaving precious seconds off the time to perform a transaction--something that is essential in a restaurant environment in which throughput is core to success. Toast is much more intuitive than other POS tools and the day to day users have found it to be excellent.
Toast does not allow for the same level of customization that legacy players do, so you can't change every aspect like you can on those tools. Further, the handheld devices rely on excellent Wifi connection, so you may struggle if there is a lag or an outage on the internet. Further, some changes take a little longer than you would hope to update on the handheld devices.

When I took over as manager of the restaurant we had a PoS system called Breadcrumb, and it was absolutely awful. Since bringing Toast in, my life has been so much easier! It's so user friendly and on the management side, its a dream. I highly recommend this system for anyone looking to switch

We have used several POS systems in my restaurant. After trying Toast, I was convinced it was the best. We have had multiple issues with credit card readers not working with promises of new ones (which we have never received) so that’s my only complaint. The ease of use is great and when the cc works, there isn’t a better system.
Credit card readers don’t connect properly and sometimes they don’t work at all. Punching in numbers costs my restaurant a lot of time and money with higher fees.

Overall my experience is indifferent. While I am occasionally irritated with this system other days it functions fine but overall it is still mediocre. I would recommend it to someone with a strong encouragement of researching the program to see if it is the best system for your business.
Toast POS system has a VERY short list of pros from my time using it in my restaurant. One of the only pros is the easy-to-read menu set up. While There are not many features or anything about the system that I found unique or helpful, there are not to many bad elements that stand out either. It is a simple and mediocre system.
The biggest con of this program to me is the ridiculous amount of time it takes the systems to download and log on, not just first thing in the morning but periodically throughout the day. There are also issues with set times and online orders being updated because all systems must sync variously throughout the day as well. The system is not user friendly or easy to use right away and takes more time getting use to than past systems I have used.

Made daily operations at the restaurant much quicker and smoother.
What we like the most about the software is the constant upgrade, how easy it is to use, the back office is fantastic!! We had Micros before we switched to Toast and it's like we came out of the dark age and into the modern world!
Honestly not much we don't like.....maybe that SOMETIMES it lags. We don't experience that too often but it does happen from time to time.

This was the best decision we made in 2022. The customer service and offerings of the platform are next to none. This is our 3rd POS system since opening 7 years ago, and I can say with confidence, it is the best of what's around.
I love how robust it is! The search bar feature at the top makes it easy to find what you are looking for in a platform that is really encompassing of any of our retail and restaurant POS needs. I also love Quick Edit and that people on the floor can make quick changes without relying on management to go into the back office.
I wish there were a mobile app that would allow me to quickly check sales instead of having to login through a browser.

After over a year the restaurant is still super happy with the switch
I was hired to help customize, train, and implement this new software at a friends restaurant. I have worked with a few different POS systems and this was by far the most user friendly. Easy to customize their menus and check preferences. Easy to update if we figured out how we originally entered in an item needed to be changed. Cloud based so when not on sight I was able to fix remotely when not at the restaurant. Also the handheld option is great for taking orders and splitting checks on the fly. Also were able to implement gift cards with the new system.
No real cons. The only downside was the initial few days after switching for the staff to get used to it.

Overall, I really enjoy the system. It's simple to program and they have a great support system. It's worth the investment to pay for extended support until you or a manager has the ins and outs of the backend in hand. The reporting is awesome and when used the right way, you have your answers to questions you didn't even know you needed to ask.
I have been using restaurant POS for over 20 years and Toast has shown itself to be one of the best on the market. It is so user-friendly and easy to work in, including the handhelds, that it's amazing. In training new teams they offer a great program and support team. The layout is ideal for high-volume. Reporting is excellent. I refer Toast to most of our clients.
As with any new system you install, there will be issues and "clunks." Toast is no exception. The worst was the display screen and the use of it on the line. If you do not set aside enough time to train, prior to opening or first use, it will be challenging to understand, especially if you are not used to systems other than tickets and calling out. It just takes time getting used to and working out the kinks upon install.

Overall the Toast program is on the best that I have used. I would recommend it. Not a big fan of the tech side due to lengthy wait times for repairs.
It is very easy to use the POS and train employees on. I love the ipad functionality of it. There is training online for the POS.
It has many features that I need to learn more about. We have one system down and it has been 2 weeks now due to waiting on the tech team.

Benefits - very few, its a processing and pos basic. Issues - many, but do get resolved. Features - literally almost nothing. you get basic reporting. We switched to Toast.
Its useful that this POS offers 3 party features to install, to bad you gotta pay of them. Reports are easy to understand, what comes in and what your taxes are. Easy point of sale to use for your staff.
Alright after 2+ years of using Cake here it is for you guys. 1. On the phone with customer service probably 4 - 6 times a month. This is from reporting / dashboard issues, POS issues. Reporting issues: about 2 times a month we have to call about some kind of labor reporting issue and takes the engineers around 1 to 4 days to fix. Note - same issue occurs, another day or so for engineers to fix....

Very solid, they have earned my respect and trust. I have appreciated the help getting everything going and the simplicity that the software provides.
Cake is an easy software to understand and use. Compared to Toast or Square the setup is straightforward, the interface is clean and the POS equipment is very high quality. Reports are instantly available, customer service is top-notch, and transactions are smooth and hassle free.
Customizing the online ordering screen as well as the second screen for the POS. Both are very limited and don't allow me to alter font, or layout/style. I'd like to represent my image better and I can't do that if I can't alter the fonts and add graphics.

A very smooth transition from previous POS.
The tech support is great! The software is easy to use both for the management and service staff.
It isn't as flexible as I'd like for custom historical reporting. I'd like to see the "Smart tax" features I've had on other POS systems.

It kept track of everything and generated pretty much any report that you could have wanted. I also liked the rate for CC purchases and customer support was outstanding.
I can't really think of anything. It was a pretty awesome POS System.

The addition of the online ordering incorporated directly to our POS system is definitely a great tool for our industry. Very easy to set up and result in sales showed vast improvements and removing third party company another plus for this system.
