Stop memorizing passwords!

2018-08-06

Great way to improve security and once you get used to using it, it's easier to use than to remember passwords.

Pros

Audit makes it easy to track down old bad passwords so you can fix them.

Cons

Sometimes parses websites badly and can't figure out what data to put where, Android client is somewhat buggy in terms of trying to fill in websites multiple times.

It makes it easy to manage passwords

2018-10-28

I would recommend it as a password storage platform (it also generates secure passwords for you).

Pros

If you're like me and work in a team with shared access to software and a shared password, it can be time-consuming keeping a track of the password (especially if somebody changes).

Cons

It requires two-factor authentication (with your phone) to log in.

Feature rich software, allows you to secure your enterprise passwords.

2018-07-05

It helps me to be GDPR compliant by creating a secure environment for our passwords.

Pros

You can link your enterprise account with a personal account for easy access to your private passwords.

Cons

Some preferences are saved in the extension, but not in your account preferences, like logout when idle, Other settings are done via the Vault. The mobile apps are not bug free, sometimes the autofill pop-up comes up on Android, sometimes it doesn't.

My favorite Password Storage app

2018-08-17

I use LastPass both professionally and personally. It's such a great tool.

Pros

Also it saves the trouble of having to remember passwords, and it allows you to see the password you saved in case a password is no longer saved by the browser or if you're trying to sign on on a different advice like a phone.

Cons

I really dislike the fact that it requires two factor authentication to log in.

Cons

The mobile app can be a little cumbersome to use and means that I have to jump in/ out of it when using on my phone.

The first and last password manager my company will ever use

2019-04-13

I administer LastPass for my company, and LastPass’s Admin features allows me to integrate with MS active directory and seamlessly onboard new employees and control/revoke access to network resources. Password hygiene is a huge concern for enterprises and LastPass is indispensable to our company.

Pros

Their real-time reporting is amazing, from viewing password strength of employees to access to shared accounts with detailed auditing.

Cons

It’s the first and last password manager my company will ever use — as long as I am in charge of user accounts.

Very straight forward, simple and effective password management software

2018-09-14

It has met all of my needs and expectations as a password manager, it is also accessible via an API so it can be used with Jenkis builds and automation software for secure key storage.

Pros

It supports two factor authentication even on it's free tier.

Cons

There isn't much not to like, I have looked into it but the one small thing I liked about keypassX before moving over than I think is different is I haven't seen a way to pull an encrypted version of my password database local with the free version but to be honest I haven't looked that hard so it may actually be there.

I recommend to anyone who will listen

2020-10-14

There are a few sites/apps where it won't let you search notes (like an SSID password on iOS), forcing you to populate the clipboard before moving forward, but these minor annoyances are worth the general utility.

Pros

Password management is a must, but LastPass includes a 2-factor authenticator app that happens to back up to the cloud for simple recovery on new phones.

Cons

The native macOS app has been broken for me since it merged with the Safari extension. It crashes frequently and won't run without being in my dock. I primarily use Chrome, however.
