vSphere - 2025 Pricing, Features, Reviews & Alternatives

What is vSphere?

vSphere is a server virtualization software designed to help businesses manage applications and modernize workflows using virtual machines, Kubernetes, and containers. Enterprises can protect their hybrid cloud infrastructure against malware, ransomware, and other threats using built-in security capabilities.

vSphere allows organizations to manage the entire application lifecycle including maintenance of software, firmware, and patching upgrades from within a unified interface. Businesses can incorporate graphics processing units (GPUs) to deliver artificial intelligence and machine learning infrastructures, and deploy Kubernetes clusters according to requirements. The system captures host-level configuration settings and automatically sends alerts to supervisors about compliance issues.

Using vSphere, teams can handle virtual machine templates, optical disc images, scripts, and virtual appliances. Other features include access management, cloning, virtual machine encryption, data migration, power management, content library, and versioning.

Pros
I love being able to view and manage all of our virtual machines in one place. So many management options it will make you feel like a super hero.
If you have a active support, they help with any issue really quickly and with a good solution. I can sleep well knowing that the business services are support by VMware vSphere platform.
It is really good to use it without a specific course, the interface is very user friendly, feels like you are changing or using your own machine and not a group of servers/VMs.
Cons
Its a hell of certification processes and you need to absolutely stay tuned or otherwise it will become unusable fast due to ongoing optimizations in the software.
Have seem some weird issues with another virtualization technologies but vsphere always had a lot of redundancy to prevent the production going down once you have configured it correctly.
The VSphere website, however, seems to have compatibility issues and the constant time-outs can be infuriating.
