Excellent. There are a few things that make it harder to sell to clients, but overall, it is an amazing platform and they are constantly trying to make it better.
Ease of use, customization and reliability. We develop custom Big Commerce e-commerce websites on a regular basis and this is our preferred platform.
Monthly price is based on trailing 12 months of sales. I understand why it is this way, but for clients with higher priced products, they quickly exceed the maximums. Big Commerce competitors do not have the same business / pricing model which makes it a little harder to sell to potential clients because of this pricing strategy.

I run an e-commerce shoe store and absolutely love BigCommerce. Their team is responsive, the apps are numerous, and Big Commerce is constantly pushing updates. My only complaint is that our product catalog is extensive and features many complex products. Big Commerce support of complex products is not the best.
Customer service, apps, speed, uptime, interface, integrations
Complex product support is weak

Was a good overall trial of using an E-commerce store.
Overall was fairly easy to use with lots of features to help with getting an online store setup. Easy to use integration with there add one for shopping cart, payment etc...
Bit too pricy for a small mom and pop operation.

This is the leading e-commerce platform for a good reason. It is easy to use and very intuitive, also with built in apps and a cart it makes for a complete e-commerce package.

Big commerce has the appeal of most e-commerce platforms, mainly being that you can setup an online store with relative ease and security. This obviously saves a lot of time and money rather than building a store from scratch with a team of developers.
I must say I was not very impressed with big commerce every time I've used them. Having used Shopify for several years, I got very spoiled with their ease of use and powerful coding languages (mainly Liquid). Big commerce was not very developer friendly, I found it's interface and documentation to be rather lacking and a bit difficult to navigate through. Sometimes making an "easy" change felt like it took far too long on this platform.

It's a pleasant and delightful experience. It is a robust e-commerce solution for B2B, B2C and Wholesalers.
At our agency, we were used to working with WooCommerce, Shopify and we had never really worked with BigCommerce. Until we decided that it was time to step things up for one of our clients. We had a delightful surprise to see that BigCommerce is one of the most complete platforms out there, that is extremely user friendly whilst being robust and complete. You have every type of solution you can imagine within your platform. From Wholesale B2B to a simple one page shop, you can build it all. BigCommerce offers amazing templates you can choose from, and also the Cornerstone which is a blank canvas. As an agency, we've gone through the partnership process and we are officially a part of BigCommerce marketplace!
What I don't like is how the development can be a bit different than what we're accustomed to, and not as user friendly as Wordpress. For instance, on Wordpress our team can set up the background in a friendly way for our customers to use and manipulate sections without the need of a developer 24hs helping them. Now as far as BigCommerce goes, the way some pages are set up require you to have an intermediate understanding of HTML if you want to manipulate some text and imagery. I find this quite difficult since our clients are the ones changing content on the website once we hand it off to them.

Our overall experience with BigCommerce was excellent. The customer service team was always available. The site features were easy to navigate and the theme options were professionally designed.
Big Commerce features and website themes are perfect for small business owners who are looking to start a retail business.
The platform is not set up for multi-vendor marketplace stores.

Its a good platform if you are just starting out or just want to get up and running quickly. Most other e-commerce platforms you have to buy, install and manage plugins or add-ons to get your store fully functional. BigCommerce includes majority of your important e-commerce needs already.
If you have complex products or product options there will be somewhat limited flexibility, customization and support without a developer on your team. At the current time, the app marketplace is rather lacking when it comes to adding additional functionality or integrations to your store, majority of the apps are marketing and inventory based and come with additional monthly fees. Definitely use the trial period to make sure it will suit all your needs before committing.

The software has been solid for our customers and the administration UI is very easy to use. We have outstanding technical issues that have been open for more than a year and are still not resolved (HTTP status 500 errors that intermittently are returned from their backend APIs) - they say they cannot see the errors in their backend logs and we must send them examples even though we have this happen...
It is highly customizable, has most of the features you'd expect in an e-commerce solution, and the APIs are well-documented.
* Seemingly easy solutions to known issues get stuck in their support bureaucracy and disappear * Their logging does not allow software engineers nor CSRs to see the specifics of errors - customers must provide client-side stack traces to help them find errors on their backend (for example, API calls that return HTTP status 500)

Seamless. Minimal effort. When I need service, its there. Most times I can figure out everything I need using their online documentation and forums.
Simple and easy to use, but its Big Commerce's customer service that earns them the crown of King of E-Commerce platforms.
Not really a BAD thing, but they are always adding features that usually are of no use to me..... but hey, they work well for SOMEONE.

Big Commerce is certainly easier for the amateur to use than Shopify (a huge plus for aome of my clients) and its out of the box options are excellent.
I don't DO e-commerce myself as a retailer but I have worked for plenty who do and have created more than a few retail sites from scratch. I first encountered Big Commerce when a new client was stymied by the fact that Shopify made it nearly impossible for him to sell digital downloads. A huge problem for a 21st-century comic book author. Redoing his site with Big Commerce allowed for that functionality and in working with it I found it more intuitive than Shopify as well.
It is perhaps a little expensive when compared to other options BUT for the project I used it for it got my client exactly what he needed and the jump in revenue for him has meant that the software more than pays for itself.

BigCommerce is one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the industry. It is super easy to use and get started, and we loved that it also has a 15 day free trial. Very easy to install and set up as well. BigCommerce also does not charge transaction fees, like some e-commerce platforms!
The monthly pricing structure can be costly. Also, since we are a smaller company, it sometimes has more functionality/options and add-ons then we really need.

We use Bigcommerce to run our E-commerce business. Overall, we are satisfied with the platform and it gets the job done.
The layout is fairly easy to navigate and the support team is helpful when we have issues. We went with Bigcommerce because we were having issues with Shopify with the timing and capturing of payments.
Bigcommerce is very limited in design options when compared to platforms such as Shopify, Wordpress and Magento. I would recommend going with one of them depending on your business needs.

The company I worked for had a B2B e-commerce website, but wanted to start a second e-commerce site that was more B2C focused since the clientele had different needs, and the B2B site was not set up to accommodate all the new B2C business. We were able to set it up quickly and provide accurate shipping costs and product option costs.
I loved the versatility available for building product pages, being able to set it up so pricing adjusts automatically for different product options, and the import/export functions to update large inventories via Excel documents instead of manually editing within the web app.
Initial setup can be confusing, especially when new to e-commerce and knowing how to tell it to calculate tax, shipping, etc. Their customer service is great though, so if you're confused about a setting you can call and talk to someone very quickly. I rarely ever waited more than 5 minutes to talk to a rep.

Bigcommerce made it extremely easy to enter the field of online commerce. It was a breeze to set up items online for purchase and to interact with customer orders.
It was difficult to sell recurring items like subscriptions and lesson packages in a way that captured more than a one-time sell.

The ease and themes were beautiful
The ease of Big Commerce and the fact I can drag and drop customer service is always helpful and the team makes sure you have what you need in apps
Cons not a lot of suppliers but some work for you and some of them don't depends on what you are selling online.

At first it was great, but as they got bigger they didn't seem to value my business the same way and forced me to pay almost 3 times what I had agreed to. I was happy to switch to a competitor when I did.
I liked that it was very easy to figure out. It was updated regularly and laid out nicely. I built my first e-commerce store on my own using this software.
I kept hitting walls with what I wanted to do. Some of the features were limiting like "Options" and I kept hoping they would improved them. They also made a change to their pricing structure and took away Customer Groups on the plan I was on. It was $29/mo and then all of a sudden it was $79/mo. I wish they grandfathered me in. When I called to complain or work something out, they had a take it or leave it attitude... so I left it.

It's fine for what it is, but I'm excited we switched over to WordPress for the website part. We're still using BigCommerce for e-commerce purposes so that will be great.
Keeps track of sales just fine, easy to make coupon codes, and create orders/cancel orders
If you're running your entire website through BigCommerce it's not great. WordPress is much better. BigCommerce is limited in certain things you can/can't do. Doesn't have all the plugin capabilities & a lot of times shuts down on us.

I love using bigcommerce, it is fast, user friendly and very easy to learn and get comfortable with in no time! I have already started working on other commerce sites with ease and comfort.
Very fast and easy, step by step with the ability to make it your own unique store online. I was able to put together a good ecommerce website within 24 hours from scratch.
It has a lot of menus and sub menus for site preferences that can be tedious on a first time user,
