Pros and cons

Commercetools has been an invaluable asset in enhancing our digital commerce capabilities. In addition to its robust features, Commercetools excels in ease of implementation and customer support.
The experience is very nice, and the customer sucess team is here to help you.
The development is very satisfying thanks to a well structured APIs (we use both graphql and rest). The documentation is great.
Sales figures should be restricted to specific group not everyone.
In the Merchant Center reporting and merchandising cover the basic requirements but it is limited.
Both the search in the Commercetools backend and the product search for the frontend don't work really well.

Easy headless ecommerce

Reviewed 8 months ago

We used commercetools as a tactical solution while we waited for the global solution from our matrix. It has been very helpful as we put in place the solution fast and have worked pretty well.

Pros

It was pretty fast to configure and deploy. It has many API to integrate or retrieve data. It very stable and we didn't have any performance issues.

Cons

Sometimes it is difficult to extend the core funcionalitiy

Fast and flexible: Stable and scalable.

Reviewed 9 months ago

Overall, our experience with commercetools is great. They provide the support we need and have great API documentation. Their services are fast and robust and provide the flexibility needed to integrate with third-party platforms. We trust their platform and they are best in the headless ecommerce space.

Pros

We love the stability and flexibility of the commercetools' platform. There are rarely business needs that the platform cannot meet. The APIs are stable and fast allowing us to build world-class shopping experiences for our customers. There is a robust messaging system that integrates with standard event buses which allow our team to integrate with the best third-party products we have. The customer success team is easily reachable and thoroughly answers our questions. A team of four developers can manage a single headless ecommerce site using commercetools. It is a great platform for a growing company.

Cons

We have issues with running some types of promotions and discounts within commercetools. We've also had trouble looking to migrate to a different identification platform. The Merchant Center dashboard is slow and buggy which makes the administrative experience difficult and the company does not view open source as the future of software, which makes it difficult to report bugs and makes our team wary of the company's future.

Great product

Reviewed 10 months ago
Pros

As a customer of Commercetools, I've been thoroughly impressed with its powerful and flexible e-commerce platform. Its API-first approach seamlessly integrates with our existing systems, making our online operations more efficient and scalable. The platform's ability to support omnichannel strategies has enhanced our customer experience, providing seamless interaction across all touchpoints. Moreover,...

Cons

Given its API-first and microservices-based approach, businesses often need skilled developers to fully leverage the platform's capabilities, which can be a challenge for organizations with limited technical staff (fortunately not the case at us).

Good tooling

Reviewed 10 months ago

So far, we are happy with commerce tools but keep in mind we're just walking by the beach, not started swimming :)

Pros

The flexibilty to define different products, and detail of documentation from a developer's perspective is I liked most. The limitations of the platform causes some headaches already but also help us to think outside of the box.

Cons

Nothing so far but once we start with the implementation I'm sure I'll bring more bullets under this question. From a PM perspective that's aditional, normal training, cost extra.

Good engine for headless ecommerce

Reviewed 10 months ago

The SAAS solution as main engine for shop is for sure much different approach than self hosted monolith. In general switching to MACH helped us to organize teams responsibilities. Selecting CommerceTools as main engine was good decision, and we still discover new ways of using it.

Pros

We don't need to care anymore for hosting, performance, database or upscaling.

Cons

Lot of customizations we had to prepare on our own.

Excellent partner

Reviewed 10 months ago

I have been personally using commercetools for the last 4 years and I am very pleased with it overall. The intuitive APIs and well-structured data make it a breeze to integrate. The capability of extending both the platform and the data structures facilitates effortless customization. The comprehensive documentation is always there to guide, and the rock-solid reliability ensures consistent performance.

Pros

Robust APIs. Facilitates seamless integrations, sync processes, and data exchange with other systems. De-Coupled. It allows us to have the freedom to manage our storefronts and POS separately from the backend. Versatile Data Handling. Easily extendable the data structure to fit specific needs and includes pre and post-processing of data on updates or creation, streamlining data workflows.

Cons

In the Merchant Center reporting and merchandising cover the basic requirements but it is limited

Overall experience with CT has been excellent. It was highly performant, stable and reliable for the iconic iPhone release.

Pros

Had a very productive engagement with CT. The product is extensible, scalable, highly performing and provides customers the flexibility to enhance the services as well as the authoring interface. Excellent resources to collaborate with.

Cons

Request for additional PIM enhancements to the authoring interface (Merchant Center).

Reliable partner, stable, high-performance engine

Reviewed 10 months ago

The software is very stable and performant and we have not had any failures or any bugs in the past few years. The platform development process is therefore very good and Commercetools is a reliable partner. The platform is constantly being developed with new features, which are presented in a quarterly meeting.

Pros

Provides the most important e-commerce features headless and gets extended with more practical features every quarter. In addition to the standard e-commerce functions, the discount engine or rule engine offers many options to support various campaigns.

Cons

Both the search in the Commercetools backend and the product search for the frontend don't work really well. According to the roadmap, the search should be significantly improved and future.

Commerce Engine

Reviewed 10 months ago

Fantastic tool that I have been using since 2019. It has been very reliable and has only experienced 2 to 3 major incidents in the past four years. These incidents were short-lived and did not significantly disrupt operations. As an operations manager, I value uptime, availability, and performance, and CommerceTools delivers on all of these fronts.

Pros

Overall Uptime is 99.9%. No Major incidents in the last year. API based and portal based configuration updates which helps different teams to manage configuration seamlessly.

Cons

Portal Access needs a bit more fine tuning. For example. Sales figures should be restricted to specific group not everyone.

An Commerce tool engine

Reviewed 10 months ago

Like that its possible to communicate with API - so that we can use different more user friendly custom built tools in the back end to update product, prices and campign in the future.

Pros

Its very flexible to create and store the information we need

Cons

We have so many double fields - to be able to support the different brand site. So the new fields for market per store - is crusual for us to be able to ad new stores that are in the roadmap for 2024.
