Best Products

Magento is hefty, but for good reason: it provides a lot of functionality out of the box.The architecture consists of four layers, namely Presentation, Domain, Service, and Persistence. Magento is comprised of many components fifteen, to be exact. And developers must understand all the dependencies among these components to develop custom modules. Magento has a dedicated marketplace with free and paid extensions. With hundreds plugins to take care of basic functionalities, you can entirely focus on developing unique features for your store. The only issue with this PHP-based platform is fragmentation.

It's the Only Game in Town

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Magento is extremely powerful. For many self-hosted eCommerce applications, it's literally the only option you have.

Cons

If your eCommerce site doesn't need to be self-hosted, and doesn't have complex multi-store requirements, I would strongly recommend considering a cloud solution like Shopify or BigCommerce. In the long term, Magento is a source of constant pain and a constant need for developer attention.

Not as easy as it should be for begginers

Reviewed 4 years ago

Managed a dropshiping website for a couple of years at the Magento platform. Basically we had to do all kinds of tasks, from managing orders to import products. Life could have been easier with a more intuitive interface and less expensive add ons. Overall i dont think it was a good experience and i would not use it again at as my own choice.

Pros

It's a very complete and versatile tool with a wide range of tools and features.

Cons

Not easy to start with. Many addons are expensive.

Magento review

Reviewed 6 years ago

There are plenty of hosted services, such as Editors' Choice award-winners for shopping cart software, Pinnacle Cart$29.95 at Pinnacle Cart and Shopify$29.00 at Shopify. But i'm looking for something i can install on my own server, i consider Magento (free), an open-source ecommerce platform owned by retail behemoth eBay. This feature-rich service offers you a tremendous amount of flexibility, provided you are willing to put in the extra effort. If you sell via eBay (which owns Magento), the service is definitely worth a look, thanks to its deep integration with the online-auction behemoth.

Magento : a good e-commerce CRM

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

It's quite easy to use even if you're not a tech-savvy and it does its a job to manage an e-commerce website. Also, it's possible to make it your own if you have a good tech team with you

Cons

You depend a lot on your tech team to tailor it and the back office is very slow (comparing to Prestashop, for instance)

Great product until recently

Reviewed 3 years ago

I used to develope with Magento until they changed their model.

Pros

Magento was a great product until their recent changes in pricing models and forced alot of users to switch

Cons

The Magento store has caused a lot of software developers to leave the platform. Their pricing model is unfair.

An excellent e-commerce store platform that's a little tricky to use.

Reviewed 5 years ago

It allows us to build e-commerce sites that look and feel entirely bespoke, great for clients that have pre-existing sites and need to keep the storefront on brand.

Pros

It is without a doubt the most comprehensive e-commerce site builder available with features other tools simply don't have or require 3rd party add-ons.

Cons

It isn't anywhere near as easy to use as some of its competition, limiting the number of times we use it to only those sites that need its extra complexity

Want full customized E commerce portal? Magento is the answer!

Reviewed 3 years ago

I have some developer background, so I love using Magento for e-commerce projects.

Pros

I like the power of customization and flexibility capability Magento gives for any developer and clients as well. There are lots of functions already present in the Magento that a person can use and speed up the process for creating an e-commerce portal.

Cons

Magento is not easy to use; it's not for a non-technical person to use to create an e-commerce portal. It's also that user-friendly. A person has to learn a lot before he/she starts to utilize this CMS fully.

Magento is a Leader in its Field

Reviewed 4 years ago

For small businesses, helping solve their needs with Magento is key. It h as custom design tools, SEO management, and product management to really streamline your business. If you have the products and sales, and want a semi-easy way to manage it, I highly recommend using this software if you have the budget.

Pros

I like that it has such an extensive list of things you can do with it. From SEO marketing, to product management, to helping checkout, it's pretty awesome. It's all in one section.

Cons

For a beginner, it's really hard to understand. You need a lot of walk-throughs and guidance.

Magento Review

Reviewed 6 years ago

With over 250,000 merchants on board, Magento is one of the eCommerce industry's most popular self-hosted platforms, and it's not hard to see why. Magento's expansive features set and complete customizability make it an excellent platform for merchants who have the resources to best implement advanced technology. Magento was founded by Roy Rubin and Yoav Kutner in 2007. Over the next four years, Magento caught the eye of big name players in eCommerce, and in 2011, eBay/X.commerce purchased the platform.

Well, it helped me a lot to make an online store for a client and sell on the internet

Reviewed 4 years ago

It is the most powerful for its product possibilities and configuration options. There are references of connectors between Magentos and ERPs of high level type Navition or Open ERP. You have many templates created for this CMS, which sometimes facilitates the choice of structures of the online store project. It is easier to make customizations of themes oriented to responsive projects.

Pros

Seems to be trusted by large ecommerce companies. Has been around for a long time. Seems to be secure

Cons

Magento costs loads of money, and has no advantage over other ecommerce software, which has a very active development community

Magento Ecommerce SEO and Marketing

Reviewed 6 years ago

The cool thing about Magento is that you don't really have to use other marketing tools to get everything you want, from email marketing to ads on the site. SEO is automatically configured, unless you want to go in and change things yourself. Marketing benefits include the ability to upsell products, offer promotional pricing and give out coupons. I particularly enjoy the email marketing platform and multi-tier pricing for quantity discounts, pushing people to buy a little more to reach those discounts.
