Free eCommerce engine

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Tried to implement for clients twice and all went right! As I expected its very good open engine to devevlop eCommerce platform. We have categories, products, attributes and attr groups, manufacturers - all works well and simple. We can manage the layout theme, language, adv banners. Its ready for SEO. Sales reports and orders have everything we need. And most important - its free for use!!!

Cons

One thing is annoying - products in backend are not listed in categories - just plain list with all of htem in one place. Not good.

OpenCart Delivers Great E-Commerce Solutions

Reviewed 2 years ago

My overall experience has been that OpenCart provides game-changing e-commerce tools, many of which are free to use.

Pros

The best aspects of OpenCart include the ability to integrate payment gateways and e-commerce tools easily into websites. Many are free to use and the variety of tools are fantastic. The categories make sense!

Cons

So far, I did not find any features that I have disliked about OpenCart other than possibly the cost of the commercial features.

Decent online store for beginners

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

The tools were pretty easy to figure out, and as the title says, it's a pretty good starting point for those just getting started. The system is stable, and it has good technical support when you find bugs of have a question. There are a lot of learning resources as well, so that's a plus.

Cons

While templates are nice, some do require additional work to get looking and functioning correctly. Without coding experience, you may need to buy additional add-ons to get extra features you need.

My experience with Open Cart

Reviewed a year ago

Hmmmm, It is suitable for those very small businesses who does not growth significantly

Pros

- Free - You can find developers around the world, it is just PHP ;) - Wide Community - Many Extensions and themes

Cons

- Free version is just for small businesses - Free Version needs many extensions, a lot of heavy work and one or two developers to make it fit business - Wide community but support is weak and always late, not clear and not free too - Many extensions but the good one is not free. - lucking in setup instructions (they put it in read-me file, stooped ) - Security is the big issue here (you must to take care about this issue) - it comes with nothing, you need to go adding extensions one by one; and note that all of these is not free; free extensions are poor

OpenCart: Easy setup

Reviewed 3 years ago

Opencart has made it easy for me to setup multiple eCommerce stores in a very short time.

Pros

Opencart is very easy to setup and configure, setting up a shop has never been easier and the newer version doesn't break, less bugs to worry about and no need to have coding experience.

Cons

Building themes and plugins are very technical. In-depth knowledge of twig and MVC is required which is very technical.

One of the best free shopping carts

Reviewed 4 years ago

Installation in few minutes, easy to configure.

Pros

Installation is very simple. Easy to set up, you'll have your own shopping cart set up with little work. Best of all, it's free.

Cons

I did not find much help to develop my own modules for this software. Also the general support of OpenCart is not very abundant. I tried installing third-party applications but many times the versions were not compatible and had to be reinstalled from the start. It probably was not necessary, but due to the lack of documentation I did not find a better way to do it.

Easy to use but that comes at a price

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Super easy to set up, you can get a store online in just a few hours. Very beginner friendly, of course, you need some web knowledge, but other than that, nothing much to know.

Cons

While you can do a lot of things with OpenCart, they are pretty basic. Updates tend to break it, and it is pretty difficult to custom theme correctly. Overall, not worth the hassle.

Cookie-Cutter Option for Simplistic Ecommerce

Reviewed 2 years ago

We were excited with the prospects of having a free, opensource cart system... but OpenCart was not the solution for us.

Pros

OpenCart is opensource, so it has lots of possibility. It's also free.

Cons

Really nice UI and lovely to use.

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

One of the best things about OpenCart is how much the UI is since their update. It's a good setup that you can self host to keep costs down.

Cons

I've found much nicer platforms out there. But that aside there isn't anything bad to say about Opencart. It's a good setup that most users can get up and running.
