Pros

Twitter is a great platform to use for its simplistic use and its availability to integrate into other platforms and softwares because of its popularity.
Any social media site is good for business - really helps you promote your product. Love that there are so many people - all walks of life on twitter - from celebrities to grandfathers.
Overall, it is a great software and I would recommend it to anyone who might be interested in trying it out.

Pros

The best features of Slack are its innovative interface and easy to use features. Slack makes it simple, and even kind of fun, to communicate with your coworkers quickly.
I like the different slack channels for various departments, tech-support, team, individual messaging, and celebrating my teams successes or helping each other out with account challenges.
Slack has been a winner for me no matter which role I am filling. Teams adopt it quickly it's easy to use, easy to set up, and has abundant opportunities for integrations.

Cons

The only thing I don't like about the app is that the don't filter the post properly. Sometimes I just see inappropriate tweets and it is sometimes irritating.
The people on the app are harsher because most of the time, you are "anonymous. And it could be a bit confusing to use at first because it is a bit different from others.
Only there are lots of fake accounts in the app and when you send complaints to Twitter, it is not easy to receive feedback.

Cons

While they are only visible to me, I am always worried that I accidentally posted something wrong.
I disliked the inability to make a public group "private" after it's creation. Would occasionally lag and my.
I hate hate hate how often I struggle with using the video share and audio when someone calls me on slack. It almost never works for me.

To track competitor marketing campaigns.

Pros

in my employment, I mostly use it to track marketing campaigns by competitors, all of whom are very active with new offers and suchlike on Twitter. It's really to get notified when our competitors tweet, and it provides an invaluable insight into their marketing campaigns for us. I really like how easy it is to track the activity of a given account, and getting immediate notificaiton when they tweet.

Cons

I'd really like to be able to link Twitter to my slack application - ie notify me when a competitor tweets, through slack, so I can quickly share it with my department and take action from there, rather than opening twitter, clicking share and going from there.

Great group collaboration tool

After getting over the learning curve it was very intuitive and surprisingly robust. It was easy to divide my group chats.

Pros

It’s like twitter for group collaboration and most people know how to use twitter.

Cons

Not intuitive initially but once you learn how to use hashtags and subgroups, it’s a wonderful tool.

Greater and faster interaction with people from my workgroup

Pros

It allows me to have channels, it's easy to search in the conversation history, and the integration it has with DevOps tools is both easy to use and feature packed.

Cons

I learn about service outages or issues first by reading twitter complaints than by the official channels.

Can't Imagine Work Without It

Reviewed 3 years ago

With having to work remotely for the past month now, I've really come to rely on slack for messaging. It's a great platform for messaging and tracking work place flow. I can't imagine work without it now. Especially as I just started using it less than 6 months ago for the first time.

Pros

What i like most about slack is its interface and channel views. I think it's very fluid and more organized than Microsoft teams.

Cons

I hate how you have to install features such as sharing a twitter link or a link to a google doc. Just simply preview the link. There's no need to have a slackbot message tell me to download the twitter or google doc installation.

Amazing workspace

Reviewed 4 years ago

My overall experience is good while using slack because I feel that I can manage my all works meetings and chats with clients at one platform. I can show all the things directly by clubbing the other apps like Google drive, webex app.

Pros

I really like the channel concept of the slack.. i think for beginners the name channel is confusing but it's OK after using the slack I really like it and I am personally using while freelancing work.

Cons

As per my suggestion, Direct option of Facebook, Twitter and other social media should be there while inviting people.

Could be oriented more towards business-tasks

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall, Slack has saved us considerable time communicating within our remote workforce in Guadalajara. Passing files back and forth could be improved with version control to enable comparison of uploaded files. Slack is how work gets done at Propelics!

Pros

Saves countless back and forth emails! Enables uploading of media, integrates well with Trello, Dropbox, Google Drive, Twitter.

Cons

Lacks real business production features like bug/task assignment and tracking. I could see pulling more Trello-like features into Slack. Also, image markup functionality would be great! Native integration of videoconferencing would also be nice vs triggering of Zoom. Could use better notification when people leave or new people join a team. File versioning, like the kind Box uses, would also be great.

Cons

The things I like the least are: - it posts all of our twitter feed to the chat so you get notifications about it

Using slack has helped employee/team communication and organization tremendously.

Pros

Slack is very easy to use and Millennial friendly. It takes elements from popular apps like IG, FB and twitter. With slack you are able to post status's , take photos, upload documents and video chat in various rooms. Very similar to twitter , and vey different at the same time. However very effective , fun and easy to use.

Cons

There is no back feature. If you use back feature on phone it will exit out of the app. Have to keep pressing slack icon to return back to channels or chats.

I used Slack a lot in college, and I know that a lot of people really like Slack, but it is not my favorite.

Pros

I like the #feature where you can find relevant things on your topic. If someone were to really like Twitter, I can see them liking Slack.

Cons

I think that it can be confusing at times to find exactly what you are searching for. Things could be buried away in #'s and other linked tags that are hard to find.

Slackers

Reviewed 4 years ago

My initial problem with Slack has been finding others willing to engage with me in using this "almost-always-on" service. If you run with the "I'll check my email once an hour or so crowd but otherwise leave me alone" crowd, Slack may not work in your organization. It is unique enough that there is a definite learning curve that is best climbed by constant use with multiple people.

Pros

Slack is very capable and can be enhanced and energized by a stunning array of bots, apps and extensions. Heavy users are sure to find lots of ways to use their Slack "channels."

Cons

Slack offers a very unique user experience—imagine using Twitter or SMS for all of your communications in your organization. If that sounds like a nightmare—well, it can be.

Pros

The app is simple to use. It is feature rich. You can integrate other apps like google drive, twitter, etc. You can share files. Create channels for different topics.

Cons

Slack is a great tool for team communication

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

Slack is a great messaging tool for teams. Channel creation is a great feature because you can discuss relevant topics only with people who have an interest in that topic. The free version of Slack is great and highly recommended. Slack also allowed me to synchronize with the Android app of Slack on my phone when I'm out of the office, I can receive and send messages from the phone without problems. There are also some great bots that you can integrate, for example a twitter bot that sends a message to a channel, every time a twitter account sends a twitter. There are also reminder bots, meeting bots and much more.

Cons

What I like least about Slack is the integrated call application. The calls are not of very good quality and it is preferable to use other options such as Skype or Hangouts.

Great collaboration tool

Reviewed 4 years ago

Compared to other communication tools, it has a lot to offer. Depending on your feelings about integrations, it may feel overwhelming to maximize the tool.

Pros

Quickly create collaboration spaces between team members, clients, vendors, partner teams. Plus the channels across interests makes keeping up with the latest in those areas easier than platforms like Twitter, LinkIn, etc.

Cons

To get the most from Slack, you need to take advantage of the integrations, and that means having to manage updates. If you have the free version, you'll run out of space quickly.
