Pros

Great solution to build landing pages / small & big websites with low budget - but if you got the money the results will be amazing.
If you are a person who has many thoughts that you would like to publish or perhaps you like fashion and want to show that interest, then WorldPress is your best friend.
WordPress is really an amazing content management system, that allows you to build stunning and amazing websites within few hours.

Pros

If you are a Microsoft fan or heavy user, then Share Point it is a good software for integration and share data and information between your people and clients.
I love how you can integrate Microsoft office. The large file support is great along with the ability to keep everything on your phone.
This software is great for the world of remote working and is a great solution to collaborating online. The program is user friendly and requires minimal training to understand.

Cons

We've found ourselves stalled out badly with problems at times because a theme or plugin had terrible support.
The biggest problem with WordPress is the lack of understanding that it is a blog software.
As a result, I'm forced to disapprove and delete spam comments individually, and when you get hundreds of these kind of spam comments each week, you can imagine that it can be frustrating.

Cons

Occassionally I will have errors when creating Sharepoint pages– such as the inability to change the column count, insert pictures, etc.
I would describe my overall expense as very poor and frustrating.
If there are too many documents that are not organized it can be hard to find what you need. I think that's mostly user error.

WordPress- Amazing Web Page Technology

Reviewed 3 years ago

We have deployed WordPress and it works side by side with our SharePoint implementation to provide information and links/support/documents/news to our users. Unlike SharePoint, this can be made to look very professional/attractive and I trained a few of our content creators on how to use it and they have really taken to it and made some amazing pages since we went live.

Pros

There are so many great and fun ways to create a compelling WordPress page, and many of the options are free and those that are paid for tend to be inexpensive. With so many powerful extensions, tools, themes, and ways to create anyone with some creativity and a willingness to learn how to use the user-friendly interface will be pleased with the results.

Cons

The only issue with this, and why I lowered my score a bit, is there isn't any single place to get support from. Many of the themes you purchase will come with support, thankfully, and there is nothing I've run into that can't be found online in terms of answers. But there are a lot of SKUs out there for different flavors of WordPress from Turnkey Linux to an installation on a Windows server. When it works, it's great, but when you need help it can be frustrating.

Good way to collect thoughts

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall I would recommend Word Press because of its similarities with Microsoft Word. Just make it easier to navigate.

Pros

I like Wordpress because much like Microsoft Word, Word press allows you to organize thoughts in a way that is coherent and makes sense.

Cons

Word Press isn’t as easy to navigae as word is. I find I’m having to do more just to manage the product than I do with Word.

WordPress is Awesome, but don't forget to maintain it!

Reviewed 3 years ago

It's great when it's used for what it's meant for, or small ecommerce deployments. It's far too flexible so it can really crash and burn for larger scale deployments. I was at a company where the CEO decided to "white label and customize" Woocommerce and it was a nightmare.

Pros

It's like Microsoft Word for the web. It's pretty straightforward to administer and that makes it an easy sell.

Cons

The hacking. This is the platform I've had hacked the most in my career. Make sure you maintain it and take every possible security protocol known to man. Have daily server backups just in case!

Easiest PHP CMS to publish and maintain content long term

Reviewed 2 years ago

I recommend this and have implemented Wordpress for many clients. It just works. If you can deal with Microsoft Word you can publish content with Wordpress.

Pros

One of the best things about Wordpress is that it has never really required a migration. Updates are self contained and simple. I've never really encountered an issue that broke backwards compatibility with Wordpress core or core themes. 3rd party themes and plugins i have experienced issues with, but that I see as a different issue from core wordpress. This software is free, is used by some of the...

Cons

For websites with multiple contributors, I do wish there was a bit more granularity in access control. Locking down access to certain functionality leaves a bit to be desired. But for a larger website with a need for granular access control, Drupal or PHP is probably a better solution. For a focused website with trusted contributors this is not really an issue.

The only way I prefer to manage web content

Reviewed 4 years ago

It's really low maintenance. If you can figure out any Microsoft Office product, you can probably figure out how to make Word Press give you the result you want.

Pros

I love that I VERY rarely ever have to go into the code to do anything. You can basically format everything as you go.

Cons

Navigating your plugins isn't always intuitive. Sometimes they're on the side bar, some times you have to go to your plugins tab and it's in a drop down from there, and the list under "plugins" is more for managing (deleting and whatnot) than navigating to a specific one.

Wordpress Appreciation

Reviewed 2 years ago

Steep learning curve at the beginning as you need to learn a lot about web hosting and other technicalities but from there everything gets easier. It has changed my life and increased my earning ability. I've created four ecommerce businesses using WordPress and learning how to use it is the most important skill I've acquired over the past 4 years.

Pros

Versatile, flexible with limitless options to create a website of your choice. WordPress is to the internet what Microsoft was to Personal Computing. You can create any type of website with ease.

Cons

WordPress sites are vulnerable to hacking, attacks and spamming and often you only learn this once you've been attacked. More should be done for security.

Wordpress Has Revolutionized Websites

I like Wordpress overall. It's an easy way to have a complete website up and running in minutes, literally. It's also very easy to teach people to use since its user interface is similar to software like Microsoft Word, etc.

Pros

Cons

Wordpress - Powerful, Easy-to-Use, Website Software for Any Industry

Reviewed 2 years ago

I love the look and feel of WordPress websites. Our members and students love accessing the content on our site as well as reading the articles and attending our programs - all hosted on the WordPress platform.

Pros

I have been using WordPress in my business for over ten year. The platform is easy to use and offers a gorgeous website. It's as easy to create content on WordPress as it is to write an article in Microsoft Word.

Cons

It's important that users use a secure hosting company to secure and protect their site. After having difficulties with security with with several hosts, we moved to WP Engine and are delighted and grateful with the security and support.

Pros

If you want to set up your own website and don't have the technical skills to code one from scratch WordPress is your best choice.

Cons

Because WordPress is a open source project it dosent have a dedicated customer service team like a Microsoft or a Apple does. So if you have any questions you have to answer them on your own usually by searching online forums.

I am huge fan of Wordpress and I consider it to be the world's most integrated and fast evolving Content Management system. I use it regularly for all my sites, blogs and WooCommerce shops. I would definitely recommend it to any administrator and end-user.

Pros

I enjoy the fact that Wordpress is very frequently updated and enriched with new cutting edge features. I also enjoy the fact that it supports a multitude of plugins (both free and paid) covering a wide range of applications and thus making Wordpress a very flexible and extensible framework. It is based on open technologies (PHP) and supported by all major web hosting providers as well as by Wordpress.com as an additional hosting option.

Cons

I think more work can be done to improve the ease of use of Wordpress built-in editor. I would like to see it being as close to a standard document editor experience, such as Microsoft Word or Libre/Open Office.

Nice tool, but you should consider whether you really need such a complex tool.

Reviewed 10 months ago

Before migration to WordPress VIP, we were using this tool for our external and internal web needs. I was responsible for the content validation and checking.

Pros

Integration with our exchange server is great because without remembering any other credentials, we can enter its management dashboard. Using the same dashboard for the external and internal (our intranet) is another good feature.

Cons

Development is expensive and hard (according to our developer). So adding or improving a feature or changing its theme takes so long time. Creating a new page template is not easy and sometimes not possible without software developer support. Also because it consumes a lot of system resources, sometimes the dashboard was so slow, to do create a content after I push the create page, I need to grab a coffee from the kitchen.

It is just more complex than it needs to be. With so many web-based sites going toward ease of use (SquareSpace, WordPress, etc.), SharePoint remains more difficult than it needs to be.

SharePoint modern allows quick and easy intranet development, but boy is it CLUNKY!

Reviewed 4 years ago

I'm happy that my team was able to rapidly build an intranet that has been very valuable to our company, but I really wish SharePoint's modern features would catch up to the flexibility and quality of a platform like WordPress.

Pros

The new SharePoint modern allows you to build a simple intranet rapidly.

Cons

The development team has a LONG way to go before SharePoint modern is where it needs to be. Whenever I train new members of my team on how to manage our intranet, I actually have to work in training on all of the random, eccentricities of SharePoint that they may run into. It's not full responsive, you can't resize image widgets, you'll run into publishing errors, two people can't edit simultaneously. I could go on and on.

From the Ground Up

Reviewed 10 months ago

Overall, I am very pleased with what I have been able to learn from and create with SharePoint. There are ups and downs, but many of the cons are more preference than necessity.

Pros

Being someone who has not gone to school or had much formal training in web design, Sharepoint started as a learning experience. We switched from using a WordPress-made site and attempted to recreate the content within SharePoint. At first, this seemed daunting, but I found that I quickly found answers to almost every question I had through the amazing support articles and forums. Through trial and error, I have set up a functioning and organized site for our company that has consolidated our internal content. I am very pleased with the ease of use from both a user and admin perspective. The consistent communication and updates from Microsoft are great.

Cons

With a current emphasis on branding initiatives, our company sees a growing need to have consistency across all of the platforms we use. Though there are many customization options within SharePoint, there is room for more. Being able to add our own fonts natively on the site or adding more advanced web parts would bring the program up another level. With the out-of-the-box web parts, we can accomplish what is needed to set up the site, but having more options would allow for a much better user experience and a more modern look to the site.

Not as simple to used as alternatives but very good for internal sites

Reviewed 4 years ago

I needed to create an internal site and this was the program provided to me, my experience has previously been with wordpress and other easy to use interfaces. So when i came across SharePoint I was a little disappointed with it. It took a little getting used to and after a few hours of youtube videos and some resources from microsoft themselves I got the hang of it. In short if you want to do the job this is a good software, if you want a pretty looking site with ease of use expect to put some work into getting it like that or use an alternative.

Pros

For creating internal sites with associated workflows and forms this is best way to go about it

Cons

It can be a little complex for non IT Savvy people so be prepared to do some training and expect setbacks when trying to work with this program
