The best value all-round PM tool on the market

2018-01-29

Tight collaborative project control. Self-hosting means we can add a raft of reporting functionality onto it.

Pros

It does Kanban PM with interactive tasks (like Trello) It allows you to budget, track time and invoice (unlike Trello or Asana. You can buy a version that you host yourself.

Cons

Cannot easily upload photos on expenses Cannot create VAT on expenses Cannot handle multiple financial entities

Love

2018-01-22

Pros

This program makes it super easy to track and manage projects and clients and different tasks/files for those projects. Nice little boards that have tasks within and you can schedule them to recur/remind, etc. Love it!

Cons

Ended up switching to asana for a more affordable option.

I have been an advocate of Active Collab and I have been taking it with me with every new company

2018-02-09

It's a great contractor\agency tool. But you don't have to be an agency, its great for in-house too

Pros

Easy to use, affordable, logical, logical, really helps. The latest version has greate GUI and I have been using this tool for last 4 years. I first used it at Xivic, then took it with me to Get My Auto, Everything Online, Digital Advertier, and now my own consulting firm.

Cons

I wish it would connect to other project management tools such as basecamp, asana, etc. I work with many contractors and vendors and if I could do everything in active collab, then it would create a ticket in their platforms, it would be awsome.

ActivCollab has been invaluable for our global team.

2018-02-09

Pros

We tried Asana and Basecamp before settling on ActivCollab due to the fact that its not overcomplicated and meets our needs.

Cons

It would be nice to be able to use emojis! We've experienced the occasional glitch but they usually get fixed quickly once we report them.

Best Collab Tool Out There

2017-01-07

Over the past 10 years I worked with several online project management, collaboration and accounting tools, including Basecamp, Harvest/Forecast, Freshbooks, Trello, Asana, Teamwork, Podio, Wrike, etc.

Pros

Covers almost everything you need for team workflow and managing (digital) project, nice UX, rich features, moderate price

Cons

Lacks a dashboard/cockpit, reports should be more flexible and easier to use, design of estimates and documents should be more flexible, billing options should be more flexible

Recommendations to others considering ActiveCollab

Add a cockpit, a chat, and more ways to style the invoices/estimates and more/easier billing options, e.g. being able to invoice selected tasks with hours and expenses per task.

Amazing project management tool

2017-01-12

We've tried Asana, Trello & Active Collab and trial each of them for some time.

Pros

The way how everything is built and organised. It's simple, and if you need additional features, you just add them via add-ons.

Cons

none

After extensive research, our team settled on AC for its simple interface and robust structure.

2018-02-09

Pros

- Simple, clean UI - Easy to learn - Clear structure (teams, projects, categorized task lists) that works well for us - Ability to sort things in the My Work list, so I can arrange my priorities for the week and then easily reorder things as tasks are completed. - Integrates well with Dropbox - Powerful customizable reports (ex. can easily see what got done in the past week on project A, or can get a clear portrait of what employee B did for the last month) Also, when you're in the middle of writing something (ex. a comment or a note) and get interrupted, it *retains* what you wrote (even if you didn't submit it and no one else can see it). This has saved me so much effort, since it's hard to juggle doing things with documenting them.

Cons

- The Asana importer didn't work for me.

Great PM product from a progressive and adapting company.

2017-01-18

I had tried tons of PM softwares - Mavenlink, Wrike, Trello, Basecamp, 10,000ft, Podio, Asana, Paymo - you name it and I had spent a few weeks with it.
