There are many issues that I feel should not exist within any platform and feel that they aren't elevated quick enough or tended to at all.

AP Specialist 

The AP team is unable to work simultaneously without "server not responding" messages that freeze multiple people.

It has been fantastic, webinars are great for refreshers or learning something new or training a new employee!

Customer service is A++++. If I ever have issues or questions, they are there to help and guide me through the problem.

Credit card transactions flow into the system, field time from WorkMax ties into payroll and job costs, and HRHQ helps keep employee information organized.

The flexibility of reporting and being able to create custom reports, and the variability in entering several types of transactions.

Foundation handles Multi-union and multi-state payroll processing very well and has the ability to do corrections which is huge.  

Accounting Coordinator

Foundation has several great features-one of my favorites includes the ability to generate very detailed reports with drill down features.

It’s incredibly powerful and truly built with contractors in mind, but you do have to commit to solid processes and proper user training to get the most out of it. When your team understands job-cost accounting and stays consistent with workflows, Foundation really shines. But if you’re looking for something ultra-modern, cloud-native, and “effortless” to use, it can sometimes feel a bit rigid or dated.

What I find challenging is that when we use custom formats, uploading them into the system and managing them is not as straightforward as using our standard lien releases or change order forms.

We also use other FOUNDATION products like Vendrix for credit cards, WorkMax for time tracking, and HRHQ.

Invoice entry is relatively user friendly if the system is working properly, and the check payments work pretty well, although I'd love to see some seamless integration with Deluxe eChecks to simplify our process.

The ease to enter invoices, pay invoices, documentation attachment for each entry - all just makes the job smoother to do.

Foundation Software has the technology to run various Financial Reports which aids in Bonding and Financing.

It handles job costing, payroll, and financial reporting in a way that fits construction-specific needs.

Do not like that i have to update all union pay rates in each company database - wish we could share this data between linked company's.

Office Manager-Controller, Payroll, HR, Asset Mangement

Back in 2012 I worked for a company that decided to come on board with Foundation and I got to be involved in that process.   When I saw an Office Manager position at my current company open up, I not only knew I would have the knowledge to do the job, but excel and really elevate the accounting side of the business.

There’s also a small variety of user instructions available for troubleshooting; most issues require calling support and waiting for a callback instead of finding clear guidance online.

We are still able to have control over timecards and job costing but have an outsourced payroll expert to help us along the way.

Human Resource Manager

Foundation Software appears to be a stable and reliable system with a solid foundation (no pun intended) for handling construction-specific accounting and job costing and payroll needs.

This makes it difficult to reverse transactions that are incorrect or if the controller reviews the coding later and wants to adjust it.

HR and IT

Seems their preferred method of updates is to buy another software and try to bolt it on but still doesn't fix the underlying problem that the accounting system could use some updates.

The interface is intuitive yet deep, enabling both high-level oversight and granular transaction control without overwhelming users.

The system integrates well with payroll and offers strong support for construction-specific accounting needs.

There was an issue with Payroll4Construction that took much longer than I felt necessary a couple of years ago but they have since sent out a more realistic timeline when it comes to correcting W2s.

It needs to be more streamlined; example, researching transactions needs more hyperlinks rather than having to open different reports manually.

Overall, it has strengthened our ability to track project performance and maintain accurate financial records.

Probably some of the reporting limitations and ability to connect with other software solutions that perform functions Foundation does not offer.

Payroll

It has many useful reports for job costing, payroll, and accounts payables/receivables.

The least thing I like about Foundation is that when you go into the invoices in each Vendor, look at another window, it goes back to the beginning of the invoice numbers.

Foundation need to prioritize this as it has been promised for some time but now appears to be a closed API release "coming soon" with only their select vendors.

We have been able to utilize custom reports to get the data out exactly how we want it and the set up wasn't too bad (since we had great help!)

Foundation has changed us we were using  "Mom and Pop" book keeping system and now we have a system that works with our commercial construction company from estimation to invoicing to change orders to payroll and more.

Although customizable reports are available, some data is difficult to export to a single report.

From job costing, preparing WIP schedules within the software to payroll reporting including certified payroll, Foundation is a great option to handle the uniqure reporting required from the construction community.  

This is easily maneuvered by merging multiple reports outside of the system, but it would be nicer if that step wasn't needed.

I've also found that there's a lot that I don't know is even in there, which is a bummer because unless you get a really strong customer service agent on the phone, you will likely never know about features, as not all of them dive as deep into support as I wish.

That it offers everything all in one software, I use it for dispatching and billing and like the ability to have everything I need to job cost.

They will resolve all questions quickly and efficiently, and if some problems require actual updates to their software, they will put those into development que and make updates to improve their product based on customer feedback!

We do have to manage a lot outside of our accounting system such as changes to employees' benefits.

I also like that I can put in a service call ticket and have someone call me in a reasonable amount of time.

The accounting software is difficult to use if you make mistakes and there are a lot of steps to undo and re-do transactions.

The platform is easy to use, reliable, and packed with powerful features that make managing construction accounting, payroll, and job costing simple and efficient.

Most electronic reporting needs are met as well so certified reports can be uploaded.

Credit card software (Foundation Pay) is not available as stand alone product with our existing credit card.

With significant inflation these past few years, especially since COVID, the average inventory price is misleading in the system as it is calculated from the beginning of time, which is typically not what is reflected in actual current costs.

Additionally, some reports and features lack the level of customization our team needs.

Foundation is a powerful system that has a lot of functions that cross making data accurate.

It’s reliable, industry-specific, and gives our team the information we need to manage projects more confidently.  

I wish there was a support chat feature or a way to schedule a support call at a specific time.

Also sometimes when applying the commitment to invoices it says I am exceeding the PO amount when I am not.

When using cloud-based software, internet connectivity can be frustrating at certain times.   But this would be true of any program.
