In order to get the Location ID of my AR data, I have to run an "Invoice Analysis" report, which has multiple lines per invoice (to show the individual line items on every invoice), export that detail, then create a pivot table by location.

Additionally, when Sage opens things in a separate "popup" window, it only allows me to have 1 "popup" window open at a time. If I'm looking at a transaction in a popup then I click on something else that requires a popup, the first popup is overridden by the second one.

The dimensional structure is a game changer — I can slice and filter data by program, department, or fund without creating hundreds of GL accounts.

It gets very frustrating when I know the information is in the system but I can't customize the columns in reports to show the date in the most useful way, I have to jump through hoops to get what I need.

From there I could click on the balance and drill down into the GL data and filter by dates and date ranges to quickly see what data I was looking at.

That being said, Intacct does a good job with the core accounting functions of housing the ledger, offering all the modules you might need (even if you have to just import data into them or sync 3rd party applications with them), and providing extensive reporting capabilities and internal controls.

Sage Intacct has a wide range of capabilities and scalability, both in terms of the accounting functions it offers as well as the custom reporting, custom dimensions, etc.

The multi-dimensional general ledger is a standout feature—it allows us to track financials across departments, locations, and projects with ease.

For example, I previously worked with Business Central and my main starting point for finding GL data was the Chart of Accounts where I could see balances as of "right now".

Intacct houses our ledger, reporting, AR, project/contract, purchase order, and other accounting processes, but for many of our transaction-bulkier processes (AP & payroll primarily) we use 3rd party applications, some of which (Stampli for AP & bill payment, for example) integrate with Intacct seamlessly, and some of which we import data from via Excel exports (Paylocity for payroll, Center for credit cards).

The main downside is the cost for additional features, such as individual licensures or integrations like the BILL/Divy credit card.

Automation for things like allocations, recurring entries, and approvals saves a huge amount of time each month.

Sage has some limitations one is closing a project but can still see it in a dashboard and some features we didn't have previously which is nice like federal invoicing.

The dashboards are clean and customizable, which makes it simple to share real-time numbers with leadership or the board.

We previously used Sage 50, so moving to a cloud-based system gave us real-time visibility and much better reporting capabilities.

While the reporting is quite robust, it is a steep learning curve on building reports. If there was one thing I could change, it would be making a few report builds more accessible to those with limited knowledge and limited needs - while still maintaining the current structure for more complex needs.

For example, if I'm trying to understand the value of invoices sent out in a certain date range by location, I can't just run the "AR ledger" report.

Quite frankly, a basic subscription to QBO (15x less expensive) will add more value to your company than Sage Intacct. When we expressed our concerns about the utility of the product the response was basically, "sorry, you bought it, so deal with it."

What we like most about Sage is the ability to automate a portion of the closing process that used to be very manual.

AP approval rules are very limited, and the system allows approvals to be done in any order, instead of requiring a specific order.

Sage doesn't have some things and you can't just sync it to a database to get information out of it without another subscription so value for the money is not great.

For very small businesses or those with simple, single-entity operations, the price tag may be hard to justify as they wouldn't be leveraging its powerful features.

The combination of a more modern platform plus automated workflows really streamlined our financial processes.

While those add-ons mentioned above can get expensive, the overall performance and usability of the system makes it a solid choice for a small financial department such as us.

Sage Intacct has a pretty robust system for all the day to day needs of managing a company's financial information with invoicing, billing, and financial statement reporting.  

It offers powerful financial management, real-time reporting, and scalability. While there’s a learning curve and the cost can be high, its automation and flexibility make it valuable for streamlining accounting processes and improving efficiency.

For example:  If there's a deposit that contains multiple payments and the total deposit amount is not  reflected in the Cash GL but it is posted by individual invoice line items.   If a deposit of $20,000 contains 20 checks ( or credit card payments) from vendors that are paying multiple invoices (for this example, 5 invoices for each payment) the deposit total of $20K doesn't appear as a single debit to the Cash, GL account but 100 lines appear on the Cash GL.  

Sage Intacct doesn’t connect directly to our bank, and syncing with Concur came with added fees.

The import function for journal entries has been heavily used in our month end close process which has sped up reconciliations.

The reporting module is very difficult and we can never get reporting support, always told we need to contact professional services for non-complex reporting that should be basic reports. And don't like having to log in to a site to submit cases, would rather email and be able to see the email history versus signing in to review the full case.

Due to the amount of line items that we are using, and different manufacturers of materials it has become more of a headache to use the Sage inventory system than to use Excel.

Reporting does not allow inclusion of unposted entries to allow users to see effects of entries before posting.  

I wish there were a world that I could just pick what accounts I want listed on a report and not "groups".

So although you can get Intacct modules for some of these functions added into your Intacct program, they are not as good as 3rd party applications.
