Far too many data points is overloading the system, instability of the system, instability of reports- missing data, slow reaction time to correct mistakes, very US centric on market reports.

I also appreciate the Python API launched a few months ago, which allows for the automation of many tasks (fund selection, risk monitoring, etc.).

The need to you different tools to do different analysis, all fund analysis is not available in PS, performance reporting, worklist an so on.

Its analytics are solid, its data is reliable, and once templates are set up, reporting becomes far more efficient. But at the same time, the platform can feel clunky and slow, and the interface sometimes gets in the way of otherwise straightforward tasks.

I often deal with bespoke mandates, composite structures, or client-specific benchmarks, and adapting the platform to reflect these accurately can be time-consuming.

I have a normal performance report which gives me returns for 1M, 3M, 6M 1Y.    If i run this report today, I will get the latest numbers. But I cannot run the report to give me the numbers as on 31 Dec 2024.

It's also possible to create new (similar) reports quickly after you e.g. create a template aligned with your firm's colour palette

I love the ability to access it in a very visual format through the Presentation Studio module, as well as the ease of downloading data into Excel.

What I like least about Morningstar Direct is the lack of flexibility when handling highly customized or non-standard portfolios.
