What is OpenBiblio?
Based on PHP, OpenBiblio is a platform-independent software for private and public libraries. It can be used to manage media content and loans and also handles user and employee data. This program is used by many smaller libraries and archives around the world.
The software is written in PHP, which means it can run on a web server. WebOPAC can be used to make all library holdings available on an online platform. Besides PHP, the program software also uses MySQL and XAMP. OpenBiblio software handles all basic library functions. It includes the administration of user and loan data, reservations and reminders for missed returns as well as inventory cataloging.
The program also generates statistics on library usage, creates membership cards, warns users about expiring deadlines, and issues written reminders for overdue items.
