WinBook is a library automation software that records media, manages loans, and allows managers to define their own media types. Cataloging is aided by Internet ISBN media searches and the software supports scanners and webcams for reading media covers.

Media with ISB numbering is recorded using online support, which means no further data entry is required. The number of media the system can handle is unlimited for all licenses. Apart from books, WinBook also supports CDs, DVDs, Blueray discs, magazines, and cassettes. The software supports online cover searches at the German National Library. Borrowers can be described as required, using definable fields. The software has a report designer for designing forms and printing ID cards, which are also equipped with barcodes. These barcodes can be used to track the borrowing and return of items, and the program also has the capacity to print receipts for these activities. WinBook can output these receipts on A4 paper, label printers, or receipt printers. During the issue or return, the software can post fees on the system. Thus, a separate billing system is not necessary.

Reminders and warning letters are issued via an assistant. The software itself indicates overdue loans and outstanding fines. If desired, the catalogs of several locations can be combined. Registered users can also reserve media via the online catalog and collect them from the library after receiving confirmation.
