I have since stopped using other design programs, as autodesk make it really easy to contain all of my needs in one program, from creating circuits to have manufactured, to 3d printing designs.

I really liked this software, here I made many project designs such as my robo soccer bot design.

There is a handy timeline feature which allows you to go back and edit dimensions without having to redo the whole CAD.

There are not generally any problems but sometimes it lags while using some complex commands.

There were few drawbacks, although I can imagine from an educators perspective, a teacher having to get all of their pupils to sign up to fusion may be an issue.

I would say one thing, for assembly designing, Fusion 360 could be improved especially while applying constraints (joints in Fusion) and motion analysis.

While Fusion 360 is a beginner software, it is not industry standard like AutoCAD, and does lack some more advanced tools.

One thing that bothers me a lot is version control, because there are days when I use Fusion on the PC and days when I use the online version, and when I go to use it on the PC I end up having to update Fusion, because my project doesn't open.

D printing function is also great, the software gives you the G-code (necessary for 3D printers to print) for you to import it into your printer dedicated software and voila!

For my time-to-time simple usage of the product, I found it very fulfilling from the aspects that you need as a mechanical engineer, I was able to share my drawing with my team in a simple manner, and I was able to save and go back to previous work without any issue.

Fusion360 is simple and great specially to get started or simple projects since the software allows the user to undergo the whole process from your 3D model to the simulation of the manufacturing process.

Impact Measurement

The main drawback maybe be the price, if you don't have access to a student or enterprise account, it could be pretty expensive.

At first, I really despised the lack of ability to incorporate weld symbols into the drawings.

Fusion 360 is all great, couldnt think of any feature that I don't like.

The feature generation and documentation (drilled and/or tapped holes, fasteners, etc.) is mostly an imported functionality set from the old Draftpak suite they imported into CADkey years ago.

We have found that using a non-parametric 3D CAD modeling software in our custom tool & die work is preferable in most instances to using a parametric modeler like Solidworks.

Inputting bend allowances and corner reliefs is simple and allows easy exportation of flat DXF files to use for manufacturing.

There have been a number of times we have received Solidworks or geometry in other parametric formats from our customers, and when they made a minor change to something it screwed up other aspects of the geometry because they didn't have their constraints set correctly.

It allows us to design in 3D and quickly produce prints for fabrication.

I do wish that the KeyCreator development team were more approachable with bug fixes and functionality improvements, and that some of the issues I have reported through the years would actually see improvements rather than being completely disregarded.

I am probably using about 30% of it’s capabilities, but that’s OK because I can get things that I need done, done quickly while only occasionally utilizing many of the available features.

The fact that it's non-parametric removes the worry that by changing one feature I risk screwing up other aspects of my geometry unintentionally.

The online support, examples and tutorials are great, they need to be expanded into the fringes of the software where reside some very powerful tools.

Designing in 3D and being able to see my projects from all aspects is critical to my business.

Like most software these days, the documentation and help system are terrible, and often haven't even been updated to match the current version of the software.

We cannot make continuing section views except from a main view (you cannot section a section view).  

It works well for mold design with XMD (Expert Mold Designer)
