After 2 years and more and more errors and costs, we had to completely rethink our business and eliminate this software from our concept.

The software is extensive and offers many features to start a store or marketplace in e-commerce. But... it sound good.

These are all things that pop up gradually and always require additional plugins (for money) or adjustments.

All other storefronts are kicked out of the index.

Expensive licenses that turn out to be annual licenses.

We tried to work with several storefronts.

At the beginning we were convinced by the experience and the features.

I updated the cs cart and was expected to get support as the update was big and expensive, but I did not get any support even though the transition to the new website did not go smoothly.

It therefore is difficult to restrict users from carrying out functions that you may want restricted.

This program gives me access to an entire world and all the tools to reach it.    Since I've been building my site and learning about the CS-Cart community, I am impressed by the constant work of CS-Cart and the world of developers who are constantly updating the software to be at the top of the technological advances in ecommerce online sales and marketing.

Using blocks to arrange what goes where on the website can be challenging on its own and you have to do this for tablet, desktop, and mobile layout so webpage fits perfectly on different devices is very time-consuming.

The new website is a nightmare and I can not get ANY support.

It might work outside EU but there are special regulations in the EU that are not addressed by the built in solution (now there is PayPal for marketplaces but PayPal doesn't offer it in Germany) - Could be solved in the future if PayPal offers this in every country but so we had to program a add-on for Mangopay on our own expenses (since the existing addons didn't work stable).

We had a client make a vendor account from the front end. After the client made the account it erased all our other vendor accounts and gave the client admin access.

To balance that CS-Cart doesn't use GMV % to calculate an ongoing licence fee which means it might be cheaper in the long-term but it doesn't really help small businesses that are trying to validate their business model or bootstrap a project on the smell of an oily rag.

I would also say that there is so much functionality, and whilst CS Cart have a user guide for market places, I would recommend creating an option to receive a user guide that has the marketplaces own branding and name in it that can be handed off to vendors who are invited to sell on the marketplace.

Now that I have control of how the software works I have real confidence in how I can get my products to the greatest number of people, and to help others get their  products online for a fraction of the cost of doing it all themselves.

It allowed us to get started with our Global Multi vendor market place within 2 months and got very good feedback on our website.

CS Cart is also very "light": eventhough our CS cart site contains 10 times the products we have in our Magento store, the size of the database is many times smaller.

The fact that the software is installed on our own server and there are no limits or extra fees based on users, etc like other online markets makes it easy to justify the upfront costs.

No built in image compression/resize features, can result in poor performance when vendor imports huge image files

Also, extension updates are typically free only for a certain period of time after which you have to subscribe to the upgrades which can become quite costly.  

CS-cart has lots of features and options already built in and many addons to further customize it to your needs.

CS-Cart Multi-Vendor allows for relatively quick deployment with the ability to adapt to changing needs.

However, compared to Magento the number of readily available functionality extensions is more limited and the community of freelancers / developers is smaller too.

Refund functionality does not substract the amount from accounting. Though I created a work around for it but its a major problem.

It is a system that adapts to any business model, integrates with any system, we are really happy with the investment

What I've loved is that is a marketplace platform ready-to-go, with all requirements to offer a complete multi vendor ecommerce.

The many available add-ons allow you to expand the solution in almost any domain.

So much functionality has been built in and they have great videos on youtube to walk you through some of the set up processes.

It takes time to get to know the platform in depth (but that's normal considering the feature-richness and customization options.

Missing Features or Wrong Functionality: if a brand joins the marketplace, you cannot add their staff.

It’s not evident how to delete from delivery or payment processors lists ones we don’t need to be available to vendors.

Since I was new to ecommerce, it took some time to understand how to manipulate the blocks to organize the information on the page.

We did PAY for their hosting and installation of the software but even after they took that money support was nonexistent.

There is some technical upskilling required and the manual is sometimes vague when describing requirements and steps.

The Platform seems to be more adapted to B2C than B2B. Some features are not flexible enough to be changed.

There are multiple add-ons and integration available to fit my specific need so its easy to customize.

The main issue is whenever a problem small or big occurred the support response time was so slow.

This is because we have had to take a lot of vendor calls and make our own documentation to resolve this.
