BoringSec overview

What is BoringSec?

BoringSec is a cloud-based, self-serve security audit tool for deployed websites and AI-built apps. Users initiate a scan by pasting a URL, with lightweight findings and coverage visible in about one minute, no account, sales call, demo, or onboarding required. The platform produces a Security Score (0–100, graded A++ to F) with per-category breakdown, coverage ratio, and caps for critical findings, alongside a Boring Score whose weights are shifted toward failure modes characteristic of AI-generated code. Target users include indie developers, founders, and small teams shipping apps with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Lovable, v0, Bolt, and Windsurf, as well as any team seeking a self-serve website security audit without enterprise onboarding.

BoringSec runs 17 pre-verification URL scan modules covering security headers (15 checks), SSL/TLS, exposed secrets, and dependency analysis, plus six verified-owner heavy scanners: Injection, XSS, Ports, Nuclei, ZAP, and Medusa. An evidence-first rule automatically downgrades any critical or high finding lacking captured proof to medium severity. Every finding includes a concrete fix path: per-finding prompts optimized for seven AI coding tools (Cursor, Lovable, Bolt, Claude Code, Replit, v0, and Windsurf), 42+ deterministic autofix templates with estimated fix times, and workspace rules generation to prevent recurrence of a class of bug in new AI-generated code. Findings cite recognized standards including OWASP Top 10, CWE, GDPR, SOC 2, and PCI DSS, and passed checks serve as evidence for compliance questionnaires.

Deployment options extend beyond URL paste to include CI/CD and IDE integrations, a REST API, MCP integration (including Claude Code MCP), Connected Scans, and repository ZIP scans. Paid plans add scan history and diffs, automatic weekly rescans (Care plan), monitoring and alerts, and team support. Reports export to PDF, support email delivery, and include an embeddable public security badge. All reports are available in 10 languages. Pricing is self-serve and affordable, with no enterprise sales process required.
