BuildInterview overview

What is BuildInterview?

Hiring a Forward-Deployed AI Engineer is hard to judge from a resume or a coding puzzle. The job is to take a messy client problem, build something that works, keep an AI model in check and explain the result. BuildInterview tests exactly that.

Each candidate takes an Audition, a timed work sample built around a realistic client problem:

- Plan. They read the client's brief and write a plan with AI switched off. The plan locks when they start building, so you see their own judgment first.

- Build. They build a working app in a cloud workspace, in Python, SQL, JavaScript or TypeScript, with an AI assistant that works like a pair programmer and never writes the whole solution.

- Catch the model's mistakes. The app calls an AI model, and a scripted copy of it gets some answers wrong on purpose. The candidate's code has to catch them.

- Handle the change. Partway through, the client changes a rule, just as a real client would.

- Write it up. A note for the client and a handoff for the engineer who takes over.

After they submit, their code runs again on new data, so answers that only fit the example fail. Automatic checks decide what is correct. An AI reviewer rates what code cannot measure, such as the plan and the notes. You get one report with every finding linked to the plan, code, output or note behind it, plus a replay of the screen, camera and microphone. There is no hire or reject recommendation: your team decides.

You can add SQL and multiple-choice questions to the same interview, choose which AI model candidates get and set the token budget for the task.

Bring your own business problems and data, and we will turn them into a custom Audition for your role. Start with a free pilot of 5 to 10 interviews with your own employees or a group of candidates, then decide. After that, you pay per candidate, with no subscription.
