Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Cline overview
What is Cline?
Cline is an open-source (Apache 2.0) AI coding agent that operates inside popular editors (VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and others) and terminals, supporting any LLM provider including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and local models. It handles multi-step development tasks autonomously: reading and writing files, executing CLI commands, controlling a browser, and managing the full software development lifecycle from planning through deployment. Model-agnostic by design, Cline connects to any API-compatible provider or custom endpoint, giving teams full control over cost, latency, and data residency.
Cline extends its core capabilities through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server ecosystem, allowing teams to integrate external tools, internal APIs, and custom workflows directly into the agent's task execution pipeline. A built-in Plan/Act mode separates reasoning from execution, letting developers review proposed changes before they are applied. All file edits are presented as diffs with explicit approval steps, and a checkpoint system enables rollback to any prior state. These controls make the agent suitable for production codebases where auditability and reversibility are requirements.
Targeted at individual developers, engineering teams, and enterprises, Cline supports both interactive and automated usage patterns. It runs in agentic loops for long-horizon tasks and exposes a programmatic interface for CI/CD and scripted workflows. Deployment is local by default, with no vendor lock-in on model or infrastructure, making it a fit for organizations with strict data governance or air-gapped environments.
