Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

EchoComet overview
What is EchoComet?
EchoComet is a local macOS desktop application that aggregates selected files and directories from a local codebase into a single, structured prompt block, then routes that context to web-based large language model platforms. Designed for developers and software engineers who rely on AI coding assistance, it eliminates manual copy-pasting of code into AI chat interfaces and unlocks the large context windows (millions of tokens) offered by web-based LLMs, which IDE-integrated AI editors typically cannot access. The application runs on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and newer as a universal binary supporting both Intel and Apple Silicon hardware. Windows and Linux versions are in development.
EchoComet connects to external LLM providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and xAI, through user-supplied API keys. Users browse their local project structure, select individual files or entire directories, and the application compiles the selected code alongside a user question and additional context into one organized prompt block. An AI-powered prompt enhancement layer analyzes the assembled code context and rewrites the user's question to improve LLM comprehension and response quality. Real-time statistics, covering line count, character count, and estimated token usage, allow users to monitor prompt size and stay within model limits before submission.
All data processing occurs locally on the user's machine. No code, project data, or query content is stored or transmitted to vendor servers, keeping proprietary codebases private. EchoComet is available under a one-time purchase license with no subscriptions or recurring fees, making it a fixed-cost addition to a developer's AI-assisted workflow.
