HighScores overview

What is HighScores?

HighScores is a cloud-based, web-accessible adaptive test preparation platform serving students in grades 6 through 12 preparing for US college and specialized high school admissions exams, including the SAT, ACT, PSAT, SHSAT, SSAT, ISEE, TACHS, and HSPT. Students begin with a free full-length diagnostic for any supported exam, no credit card required, and receive a personalized Score Improvement Plan tied to a target score and test date. The plan names specific topics, expected point gains, and estimated study hours, and is reissued weekly based on actual student activity. Practice tests replicate the real exam interface for each supported test, including tools such as the Desmos calculator, text annotation, line reader, answer eliminator, mark-for-review, and reference sheets. An adaptive testing engine adjusts question difficulty in real time based on student performance, using Item Response Theory methodology for score estimation. No question is repeated between tests across a question bank of over 17,000 items spanning all eight exam programs.

Performance is tracked across 15 analytical dimensions per assessment, rolling up from individual student to classroom to district level. An error log collects every incorrect answer across all sessions, and targeted practice is automatically generated from each student's wrong answers without manual tutor input. Per-question timing analysis identifies where time is lost in every section. Predicted scaled scores and score trends are available after every full-length test, and downloadable PDF reports can be shared with parents. Additional tools include integrated Khan Academy and YouTube video content linked in context to relevant questions, one-to-one and group virtual classrooms with live quizzes and a shared digital scratchpad, proctored assessment mode with live teacher monitoring, leaderboards, and a free Bluebook score report analysis tool that breaks down a College Board practice test PDF across 24 skill areas with no account required.

HighScores is used by individual students, parents, private tutors, tutoring businesses, and schools. School licenses cover unlimited students at a fixed annual price with no per-seat, per-teacher, or per-program charges, and include teacher training and support for the life of the license. Tutors and institutes can apply custom branding through a white-label option. Bulk student roster import via CSV and unlimited teacher, counselor, and administrator accounts are included at no additional cost. The platform is hosted on AWS in a US data center and requires no app download, running on desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers. Pricing starts at $59, and a score guarantee with full refund is available on select plans.
