Huemint is a web-based, machine learning-powered color palette generator that produces unique color schemes for brands, websites, illustrations, and graphic designs. Unlike flat palette generators that output generic swatches requiring manual application, Huemint generates colors contextually based on each color's intended role in the final design. The tool runs entirely in the browser and requires WebGL support for its data visualization features.

Palette generation spans multiple use cases: brand palettes (1, 2, or 3 colors), website palettes (monochrome through 4-color/magazine configurations), illustration palettes, gradient palettes (up to 5 colors), and Bootstrap theme palettes including utility class colors and additional accent shades. Users can upload existing graphic designs for machine learning-based re-colorization. A color contrast graph input lets users define relationships between generated colors, and an adjustable temperature setting controls output diversity. Color space data visualization provides additional insight into generated results.

The machine learning system was trained on graphic design thumbnails to learn real designer color preferences, producing aesthetically preferred combinations without requiring design experience or color intuition from the user. Three generation approaches are available: a non-ML random sampling baseline, an encoder-decoder transformer model that takes a quantized color contrast graph as input and generates palette colors auto-regressively, and a Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (DDPM) with early stopping for diversity control. Color contrast relationships are encoded as a contrast matrix representing Euclidean distances between colors in Lab or RGB color space.
